I already have a Wii, It's great as a way to emulate on a CRT. The Wii U can output 480i and I mostly just want to use it on my CRT as another emulation machine but with the neat feature of DS emulation, splitting the DS touch screen apart from the gamepad and playing Gamecube games on the gamepad. The fact that it can play some decent Wii U titles is just a bonus.

It can do online but IIRC you need a legit NNID with encrypted account-specific files from an actual WiiU for it to work. The devs are floating the idea of private servers though

You get a wii U because you want a relatively cheap emulation box with hdmi output, or to play gamecube games on your bed, not for its exclusives. About the only games it has that haven't been ported to another console are W101, XCX and project zero 5.

How much faster is a wii u than a regular wii for emulators

If i can emulate wii u games on my pc is there any point in a wii u instead of a wii besides using the gamepad to play emulators

There's good games for sure on it, but it depends if you care about switch versions. I don't becuase I got this thing long ago. I use it largely for softmodding to play emulators(limited non-emulator homebrew), with Nintendon't and VC injects being the biggest single uses.

In terms of games I play that are still exclusive to the console, there's Fatal Frame, and the 2 JRPGs on it being SMTxFE and Xenoblade X. If you're in it to use as an emulation device it works perfectly, as Nintendo's emulators work pretty good minus Super FX, which you can just use retroarch injectors for. Not work paying more than 100 dollars used, however. Also, for softmodding you need to buy a game from nintendo's stores or use a browser exploit, but buying the game is a much simpler process.

It has a dwindling one. I imagine the few games left exclusive to it won't be left that way for long (TW101 and 3DWorld).

The caveat is that video output for these systems on wii u is seriously diminished and extremely dark for some reason. It looks really ugly, making it a system that's far from ideal for these consoles. It's a lot of sacrifices for a "convenience" that ends up looking worse than even composite on their respective consoles.
