Where did they get up to with updating No Man's Sky? I liked the idea of visiting different planets, but there were no other hooks to the gameplay and the resource grind just to be able to explore eventually put me off completely. The first major update I saw was about base building which didn't interest me at all either. What other things have they added aside from that?

3adfc8  No.16558406

Nothing new happened.

Pretty much all they added was Reskins and features that should've been there since launch.

Still not worth purchasing.

every patch added a little bit of shit, but they would double the grind required to get any shit at all.

it's a cross of a "sci-fi wage-slave walking-sim"

not worth a pirate.

That picture of the development team is reason enough to never give money to anything with any of them involved, no matter what they do.

People still buy on hype. The corporations must be loling it up.

You can't "fix" no man's sky without some major reworking of it, the likes of which nobody has ever done post-release. It would require the developer to admit that their game is fundamentally shit, and if they couldn't figure that out during N years of development then that development team is incapable of figuring it out.

bc43a8  No.16558762

This is now a Spore thread.

Spore is shit, and Will Wright is a kike that sold out to appeal to a larger audience.

8226d6  No.16558764

It's been almost 3 years and it still doesn't have all the features promised at launch, or even with the first trailer. How embarrassing.

1a8756  No.16558780

>>16558396

They stuck their guns and fixed the game after a couple of years of just shutting up and working on it, respect on that, but fuck no, this studio and Sean Murray are the poster-boys of fucking shilling, marketing, and straight-up lies to your fucking face without a hint of remorse, so fuck them. You can pirate it and try it yourself, just your typical exploration bullshit and crafting game, there's use for ships, base building, and minute combat, that's it.

014300  No.16558803

>>16558396

Not worth buying but at least worth a bit of respect, most devs run away and hide when they get a literal shit ton of hate. They actually updated the game and made it fun. Still, it's not that great. It's alright but it's got issues. At the end of the day either they lied or that flooding that happened actually did fuck up their development. If that happened then good shit to them, if not then they're faggots who deserve to get shat on even if they did improve the game immensely.

475762  No.16559525

I played it for a bit at launch and then gave it a try again recently, after the 1.77 update.

Some stuff changed but not much, however I suppose I didn't play it long enough to see most changes. The problem is, launch version ran smoothly on my PC, but new versions run like shit with stuttering and fps drops everywhere, and I have upgraded my PC since I played the launch.

By adding features and fixing bugs those hack devs completely fucked up the game's performance.

>What other things have they added aside from that?

Lots of quests, things to find, multiplayer, really fucking strange alien planets and creaturs. Dunno what you wanted from this game, but it delivered everything I ever wanted from a space exploration game.

The only thing it doesn't have is a character driven storyline, it's not Mass Effect, and for good reason, that just wouldn't work with the mechanics of NMS.

>The only thing it doesn't have is a character driven storyline, it's not Mass Effect, and for good reason, that just wouldn't work with the mechanics of NMS.

It also doesn't have real planets or real solar systems, meaning when you look at the sky, or go into space the scenery is just a background jpeg. You can't just accelerate time and fly close to the sun or any celestial bodies you see. For a so hyped-up game about space exploration I've always found this unforgivable since lots of other games old and new have it.

b3396b  No.16559829

No mans sky did nothing wrong.

It was everyone else.

You can visit them, dunno why you want autistic time dilution shenanigans. I thought that was the worst part about the X games, and they didn't have "real" solar systems either.

>meaning when you look at the sky, or go into space the scenery is just a background jpeg

Not really, but whatever. Like if you see a moon above a planet you can go an visit and and i won't switch places or anything once you leave the atmosphere.

Last I checked, there was more of a story, although that story is that the game is a game simulation and nothing matters because it's all fake. There's more alien language bullshit, you can customize your character to be different species, but I don't think it changes anything, and now you can build or repair a giant freighter ship to act as your mobile base of operations. They still haven't unfucked the inventory management busywork, last I heard, so the game is still an obnoxious chore to play.

011e5c  No.16559987

>Where did they get up to with updating No Man's Sky?

added most if not all the features they said would be in the game originally. co-op, freighters, base building, underwater building, adjustment to fauna, flora, and biomes. i think next month theyre doing some no mans sky online thing that enhances multiplayer and social interactions.

Yeah, who the fuck would want interesting mechanics or good gameplay.

Autist detected. You were wrong.

>Like if you see a moon above a planet you can go an visit and and i won't switch places or anything once you leave the atmosphere.

Right. So not real solar systems.

I think we'll see more info about the Beyond Update for NMS this E3, perhaps it'll finally add enough to the game to make it worth it.

It's going to suck ass if it's even a thing, but we all know they just started that shit to get copyright gibs from Stardock. There will be no game, they've had many decades now to make one and never even entertained the thought.

>>16564093

It's already more than worth it.

5299c7  No.16565591

There has been a lot of updates, but it's all been bad. They've more or less turned it into generic Minecraft survival crap instead of fleshing out the stuff people were actually interested in.

The game was barebones as fuck when it came out but it sold on hype and it made Hello Games millions of dollars, everything they added was supposed to be there from the start.

Is just a bunch of pointless shit, the core of the game is still boring as fuck. Once you do your first couple of take offs and landings you'll have seen it all, base building and crafting are there to suck away your time and make you think you're doing something meaningful.

The only positive I can say about the game is that it can be comfy.

Apologize to /ourdev/. Meanwhile scam artist Chris Roberts has still not even released his "game". Braben still haven't made Elite Dangerous into what it should be. The new X game looks like total shit. And here you have the perfect space game, just for you, for cheap, without devilish DRM, it's not locked to Ebin's game store nor does it have microtransactions. And Sean did it all for you. He wasn't obliged to, he had gotten the sales and Sony money. He had it all. And yet he persisted, in delivering gamers the game they had always wanted to play. A game in which you can pick a planet, go into orbit, land on it and with the fidelity and content of that is to be expected of a game made today.

Polishing shit wont turn it into gold because it's still a piece of shit but polished.

The game was flawed from the start.

>the game is big

<but empty

>lots of planets to explore

<randomly generated

>a lot of thing to collect

<cant do anything with it except making exploration a little less tedious

>spacebattles

<no normal in-ground battles

>co-op

<years after release when nobody wants to play

And the list goes on.

Even if the game became good it's too late since people moved on from the genre and have found other games they like.

In a game about linear exploration. Good going.

hahalol

In other words what should have been available in the base game.

Keep posting faggot.
