Duke Nukem 3D was one of the earliest example of games being hated by leftists, but there definitely were earlier games that were hated by leftist journalists long before Duke Nukem, I'm not American so I don't really know specific examples.

Another famous example is how they also bitched about GTA and of course their whining included racism or misogyny too. I don't remember if I read something about the first or second GTA related to that aside from the fact that leftists were against violence in video games, but they definitely whined about Vice City Haitian gangs and "racism" related to them, to the point the game was censored by R✡. I used to play the fuck out of this game online with my old P4. This shit would give you paranoia and make you jumpy as hell. You never knew when there was some fuck out there in the hills with a sniper or SAW who might start taking potshots at you. You moved quickly and peeked around every fucking corner. You were constantly scanning the rooftops looking for some cunt trying to ambush you or drop a grenade on your ass. The controllable vehicles in Joint Ops was fun, but I'll always remember my time with BHD more than JO. JO just felt like the Delta Force version of BF1942, BHD was Delta Force at it's best with the occasional fucker sneaking into the helicopter and manning the mounted gun when you least expect it.

Sadly the only people who really play it anymore are a bunch of tryhards using some uber-realism mod that demand you join squads and show up for regular practice and blah blah blah. Last time I tried to play years ago, the only vanilla server I could find was running really shitty custom maps that were boring as fuck to play on. Two giant open wall tents next to each other(so both sides are getting spawncamped the entire game), a massive trail of cargo containers both sides need to jump and climb through just to reach each other, and other assorted retarded ideas.

Haunting Ground was recommended to me years after it was released so I missed reviews and coverage of it, but isn't the fact that the lead is a young, attractive, supple girl the whole fucking driving force of all of the game's horror? The game is scary because everyone wants to take advantage of her body in different ways– the game simply wouldn't work nearly as well if the lead were male or an ugly/older woman. There is absolutely nothing wrong about this review itself, in fact it is a great demonstration why controllers are shit compared to keyboards with mouse. It worked well only when FPS had no free look or proper vertical aiming, but during those times FPS games also had auto-aim to address this problem. But still, you could just play those games using keyboard just file, like you can play any other game unless the keyboard with mouse control is fucked up on purpose by retarded developer.

Who pushed this "controllers are superior input device" bullshit anyway, console companies?
