It was still shiny so the retards still liked it, the morons in charge of the project had a classic god complex as they seriously though the audience was validating their "choices" (as if it actually works that way) and decided to bankrupt the production making cool scenes (that are visually impressive) and make entire episodes, if not entire seasons, around said scene… but this isn't how narration works and since this isn't a "movie" you can't just make an action scene and expect people will forget the rest season…
So what started as a gritty lord of the rings became a major level retardation train wreck that even the dumbest moron could finally see past the shine to see how shitty it was.
And the last season which is only 6 episodes and took 2 years (!) to film is the apotheosis of that process. You have gigantic artsy lit battles (with live figuration)… but said action is completely retarded; scenes one after the other without any internal cohesion, characters doing complete 180° on their own well, character, etc…

OLM upped their game where it most matters in the character animation department. Even non-fighting scenes are great in the SunMoon anime because all the characters are animated well and show quite a bit of personality.
