then they got bought out by korean rat publisher who tried to put into the game the same cancer korean MMO monetisation systems and eventually ran the whole game into the ground

it started out pretty well, it was a simple mech game, kind of a CoD of mech vidya, nowhere near complex enough to compare to Battletech or fast enough to compare to Armored Core.
But then current year hit it harder than a freight train and it just plain died.
I don't know to feel about this if it's true. I just hope it turns out for the best.

MechWarrior isn't really a generic game. It's a fake vehicle simulator that plays closer to a tactical tank combat game.
Hawken is a fast-paced game that plays a lot like a mech-themed Quake. It's a decent game, but not at all like Mechwarrior.

Graphically speaking, HAWKEN looked like an Unreal 4 game to me - years ahead of its time, somehow running in Unreal 3. Shame about the F2P cancer though, I think they should have just sold the game at a flat price and called it good.

I can't comment on the controls per se, but the CoD comparisons look more at the fact that it's not meant to be a highly customization-oriented game. It's not like other mech games where you're dealing with a lot of fine-tuned parts and statistics. Hawken was pretty simple in application, not that that made it bad.
