My 3DS XL is failing on me, and since it's the system that I play the most, I'm gonna need it to place it soon. Since I don't play N3DS enhanced games like Monster Hunter, I was thinking about the regular 2DS, because I heard some people saying it's comfier to hold and the DS games look better on it, due to the smaller screen. Is worth getting one of those or should I get the New 2DS/3DS anyway?

Owned a 2DS for a year and I can safely say that the 2DS is comfier to hold. Shoulder buttons on it are leagues better than any of the other 3DS models and there is a better balance so it you don't feel the weight while playing. The only issue I had with the 2DS is that the home button feels crappy, mono audio, and it uses the old 3DS hardware.

It's alright, nothing special, not really better or worse in terms of comfort. Screen is really small though, smaller than all other 3DS systems.
You sure about the new 3DS though? there are a lot of little things about it that help to make some games nicer. Hyrule Warriors, for example, while being for both systems, is pretty much only playable on New 3DS due to framerate issues.

3DS have gotten really cheap recently. I wouldn't pay that much for a 2DS unless it was either NIB or maybe only used for a month. I've seen regular 3DS regularly going as low as $40.

The one problem is that 3DS games of course use two screens, like the original DS, and this has always bothered me when emulating both because you can never truly get full screen.

It's fine if you mainly want to play GBA injects and DS games via flashcart, it's great. I got one for my brother because he wanted to play the GBA and DS Castlevanias, plus some stuff like Metroid Samus Returns and Bravely Default. If you want to use it more extensively and play some emulators (SNES games with special chips, SegaCD games) Homebrew (Quake I & II, Hexen 2) and games like Hyrule Warriors or Xenoblade Chronicles, I'd suggest going for a New 2DS XL instead, when they're on sale.

Wrong. DS games look bad on 3DS no matter what the screen size is because the 3DS resolution is higher but not the double, so they have to apply a blurry filter because they can't just double every pixel's size. If you hold Start while starting a DS game on 3DS, you'll get a smaller unscaled image that will look as sharp as on the original DS. I would recommend getting an XL because the unscaled image is way too small on the regular 2DS screen, while on an XL, it ends up being the size of the original DS's screens.

No, my O3DS broke recently and i went to a pawnshop to buy one yesterday, i tried every single model and the regular sized N3DS was the only one that felt right.
>2DS
Awkward to hold, too light, i could see it working as a dedicated pokemon machine, but i needed the extra power of the N model.
>3DSXL
Looks and feels just like my O3DS, but there's no point on buying one when it's the exact same, just with a bigger screen, monhun fags swear by it because of the CPP.
>N3DSXL
Too big and heavy, for some reason DS and even 3DS games look pixelated as fuck on it, yes i actually brought two games to test: pokemon black and monster hunter 3U.

All you need is an microsd to sd adapter, which many microsd cards come with anyhow.

Why wouldn't it? Has the same software as the other old 3ds handhelds. Anything that can be put on an old 3ds can be put on an old 2ds. I have a 2ds with boot9strap on it, no issues.

Any 3DS models require a hardmod to do that, and you can only do screenshots with homebrew and those take a few seconds to actually do. Shockingly, you can stream Vita with just a taiHEN plug-in, but it doesn't work with certain system apps.

The 3G models are top-tier for jailbreaking because you can swap out the worthless 3G module for an SD card adapter (PSVSD) which means you don't need official memory cards. The only other option is the SD2Vita which ties up the cartridge slot. Seriously though, if you are running a stock Vita, you are doing oh so very wrong.

No real point on getting a 3G Vita and a PSVSD when the SD2Vita is easier to use, what if you need to hotswap SD cards? What if it corrupts? What if you just want to upgrade? Even a 256GB isn't enough for this thing if you also hoard PSP/PS1 games. You don't need the game slot free if you're pirating like you should.
a8e4b9 No.16488359

It's not that much work to disassemble, or something you need to do often. PSVSD are also possibly more reliable, at least I've seen enough complaints about dodgy SD2Vitas and also had my own issues with them. Also used cartridges aren't such an issue, only PSN is unless you're dumping games for NPS.

I've seen reports of people using 256GB without problems. just make sure you format it FAT32. 64KB cluster size or higher. You should test your SD card with H2testw to make sure it's not fake. You'll probably need a 3rd party tool because Winshit's formatter insists on using exFAT.

not the same. pixel size is bigger in XL models.

a stupid, shoehorned, battery-draining gimmick is not a cool feature. still N3DSXL is better because better build quality and easier access to internals, though SD access is a pain.

Now I'm worried. Have you at least jailbroken your Vita? You lose so much if you haven't, and any SD adapters require it. Most critically, 3.69 and 3.70 only had an exploit released recently, but they are very likely to be locked out soon. If you are on those versions, jailbreak it IMMEDIATELY. Just do the mandatory bits for now…
https://vita.hacks.guide
…but there is a recurring Vitagen here that has other info, like you can "overclock", game modding, and video streaming. It's really ridiculous. Also you don't immediately have to switch away from the official memory card if you do that, but seriously, you can buy any SD adapter and a 256GB SD for the same price as a 64GB official card. If that. I also had my 64GB memory card start to die only a few months later, so thank god alternatives came around quickly.
