Horror Games.
>Horror games slowly start removing their ambiance
>Worlds are dull and bland, yet so lively you can't even tell it's a horror game anymore.
>Horror games remove tension and the fear that at an enemy you can't deal with could be around the corner -- Then replace it with enemies constantly threatening you.or stalking you so you can't have a moments peace to even build any tension.
And my personal favorite.
>Replace dread with JUMPSCARES ABOOGA BOOGA BOOGA BOOGA
And then there's individual games.
Demons Souls.
>Could build your character anyway you wish. Negative gains didn't appear until NewGame+6
>Could run around with two Tower Shields like a doofus or two Dragon Bone Smashers.
>Lore was explained
>Enemies used their natural advantages.
Then came Dark Souls, 2 and 3, Bloodborne
>Each content patch nerfed how you could build a character. Can't even be an Archer anymore.
>Combat "upgrades" make fun builds more work than they're worth.
>Enemies with wings could be pushed off a cliff to their death. When in Demons Souls, enemies with wings, when pushed off a cliff would simply fly back up to continue beating your ass.
>Lore is absolutely convoluted and hidden. In some cases, they have to patch in NPCs (DS2/BB) to explain what's happening because there's absolutely nothing or no one in the game to tell you.
