Nah, he's right. YTMND was pretty cancer, and there's a reason any of us who used to go there (at least on any regular basis) moved on. I honestly feel embarrassed that I enjoyed half the shit I did, but that's because I was 13-14. I guarantee that the people who didn't end up on cuckchan went to reddit instead after YTMND's peak around 2006-2007. Incidentally, that's when internet cancer really began.
Especially cancer were the circlejerking faggots who tried to make "art". As insufferable as pencil necked faggots "ironically" sporting mullets trying to make walking simulators to "make video games art".

I think the issue is that the "creative outlets" available don't allow for much experimentation and that the "creative outlets" of today are highly derivative. My earliest days on the Internet involved making shitty Pokemon sprite comics on Serebiiforums. Sure, I may have been using pre-made sprite artwork but it still required some editing and freehand work to make anything that I felt was worthwhile. Meanwhile what kids would consider a "creative outlet" today would be making Fortnite let's plays and streams or something else that requires no creative talent to do.

The content, and the pride one felt knowing that once upon a time it was not full of newfags and redditors and it was truly like a second home to many of us before we even realized it. In truth this gives me some peace after all the place is finally done with its decline and infestation of faggots. It's a lack of snowclone-ism, mostly. Shit like Cockmongler and Desu, can't be "mildly tweaked" like Pepe and Wojak. You can't just open, color it pink with bleeding eyes or edit the eyebrows to look autistic, and pass it off as your NEW ORIGINAL MAYMAY. You post them in their original form without perversion or failed wit, or you make something out of whole cloth and put REAL effort into it.
Easily editable snowclone memes are the worst kind, because they're so easy even a Nigger can do it and thus get spammed to the point where you don't find it funny. Why else do you think image macros like Y U NO and Lolcats fell out of style?
There are some exceptions though; Baneposting manages to wring a lot of originality out of a 4 minute long scene to a mediocre movie, and cat pictures are just adorable and made just as much to fawn over them as to laugh at their antics. In other words, they're honest.

Which is to say, They were made for the sake of just finding something funny, and people made them just to make them. There was no ulterior motive or message behind them, and people didn't make them for profit. The same cannot be said for modern memes.
Mind you, for as much as I miss the spirit of older internet memes, I think it's pointless, and at-worst somewhat dangerous, to lament over them. It's fun to post on >>>/y2k/ once in a while, but to pretend it's still 2006 is just LARPing, and there is some good in meme culture of today.

Yeah larping like it's the early 00's is unhealthy, I think it's just our desire to see people that our the age we were in the early days of the internet have the same fun as we did, but instead they are cattle driven by 2 or 3 websites. I disagree. A tactical blockade like this (at least until we can be certain that they wouldn't be spammed) would do more good than harm I think in making people look at other options and simultaneously deal with the Cuckchan problem in as painless a way as possible without going full hotpocket.
I want to akin it to how the writers dealt with the Joker in the DCAU. With the "no on-screen death" rule and PG rating preventing them from using the easy button of having him shoot people or pull a knife or pour gasoline on people and set them on fire or other things that are commonplace nowadays for him, the writers were forced to find workarounds and ended up helping his humor a lot (having to pick up a ham shank as a weapon in a fight, for example).
That and I have to agree with >>16470416 in that we've been bullying them for the past 3 years and they still won't fuck off. If nothing else, we have nothing to lose by trying since nobody high-quality really bothers with the White & Green Duo.

Not once iterative memetics kicked in. A bunch of people doing their take on the same thing develops a name real quick. We went through several names before landing on memes. Again, first fads, then cliches, and then memes. You can actually see a remnant of 'cliche' being in use from the old Sageman trailer.

i dont really care what the cancer community called their cancer. they were just stupid cancerous internet jokes. most of ytmnd was just a gif spread over a page like a tileset and never used in an exploitable fashion. it would often be a bastardization of a joke from somewhere else like consumption junction or newgrounds.
a joke would pop up somewhere originally. then someone would make a ytmnd version of it.

Now that I start to think about it, if it wasn't because I didn't find out about porn with friends at the age of 12, my first interaction with porn would have been shadman's futanari art. I know kids shouldn't be watching porn at all, but that's definitely a dodged bullet.
