The only ones I can think of right now was Revelation 21:6 in Fallout 3 which served as the father's inspiration to make a water purifier. There's also Matthew 16:26 which was quoted by Dracula in Symphony of the Night.

I'm no christian but bible themes are usually pretty nice. Ye shall be as gods, a line in Genesis, is used in the intro of Xenogears and in nier automata, and probably in other games as well, it's one of those iconic phrases nippon loves. In automata it's kinda just there to serve as the motto of a dying faction, but it's more relevant to Xenogears since manking connecting with divinity is kind of the central theme to the entire xeno series, though in a gnosticist sense more than a christian one.

The Japanese don't really have an exclusive term for God with a capital G as it's used in the English language. The term kami-sama is probably the closest without getting into specific metaphysical vocabulary but that term can cover everything from "respectful title for a lesser spirit" to "god" to "God" to "logos" and beyond. I don't know the specific phrasing used in the Jap version but I'd be willing to bet that the English is not a direct translation. The original line was probably something about bearing hardship (maybe spiritual, maybe not) and the translators replaced it with something more intelligible and meaningful to their English-speaking audience.

When Aquinas spoke of the city on the hill he was referencing Matthew 5:14, Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. The reference doesn't make to much sense in the context of the opening scene of Deus Ex. That's a problem in general whenever games or movies reference old literature. It becomes a lot less cool when you actually read what it's referencing in context. That's especially true with SMT.

Can we discuss if there was ever any actual clues that you were supposed to remember that number for the end of fallout 3. Granted I first beat the thing like ten years ago so I don't exactly remember a whole lot. But I do remember being extremely confused the first time I walked in there and being like "ah…wut". Then after about ten minutes of running about the place just looking up a guide. Which kind of killed the whole climax. Did they expect you to stand here and go through old logs or something?
