Artificer. Zapping and exploding dudes is a lot of fun.

The robo dude. He's movement isn't that fun, his weapons are a chore to use, his secondary is barely useful and his gimmick is another chore. I get the concept, I just don't have as much fun with it as with anyone else.
Notable mention to Mercenary due to flying enemies. It's fun to slash through them and stay airborne all the time but it forces you to focus on flying enemies all the time.

I had a run with Artificer where I ended up stacking a lot of speed items, Hoppo Feathers and Wax Quails. I used to think WQ were shit but then I saw the light. Beyond the usefull dodge that lets you escape a lot of attacks with good timing, once you have a few WQ and dodge into a slight slope, you'll catapulted into the sky.
So this run was mostly dashing and raining down spells while floating around. I'm telling you, it was fucking magical, I only wish arena shooters had movement this fun.

Some skills shouldn't stop you sprinting like the Commando Dodge or the Huntress Teleport. You'll just press the sprint key again and barely break speed, it's just a chore having to do it all the time.
Teleport charging should be done by killing enemies, not time and they'd spawn immediately if there's none around instead of there being an extra delay. Would make it harder to cheese but would help to end it faster if you're a killing machine.

No, it's not a linear progression despite what the logbook says. In practice it has diminishing returns. I think the formula people have come up with is something like (1-1 / (0.15 * n + 1))% so you have around 60% with 10 of them need like 20 just to have 75% block chance. I don't know how accurate that is since it seems much higher to me but it's definitely not linear.

That's the best part. Pseudo-Flight on command for ranged characters to stay both mobile and airborne is amazing and really fun.
Only issue I have with Wax Quail and Hoppo's Feather is the loss of momentum. If you go at a very high speed due to Hoofs\Red Whip for instance, jumping won't carry that speed at all, which is a lot more noticeable with WQ and a real shame.

Their laser having perfect tracking is bad enough, being able to blow your cover while they do it is just cheese. This release roadmap stuff stinks of marketing, especially when there's this much space between updates, and likely a result of gearbox's involvement. Looking at shit like Deep Rock Galactic, which also has a roadmap like this, they dump fairly hefty content patches every month or so. The spacing on this one looks excessive.
Also do we even know if Bandito is up to bat next or is it Sniper? I've heard there's plenty of evidence for both. I've even heard there's some scraps of data on enforcer though I kinda doubt he'll ever make the cut considering how unpopular he was in the first game and as bad as he was in 2D, adding the third dimension would probably make his life even worse.
Still holding out my distant hope they eventually bring back Miner though.

Behemoth is pretty good but not great. It has a proc coefficient of 0, so it mostly only boosts your regular attack damage. Good in loop 1, not very helpful later. Backup mags don't reduce cooldown, so they are really weak unless you have items like Alien Head, Brainstalks, or bandoleer. Rose bucklers are trash even for Huntress, and Infusion isn't very good either unless you stack Transendence.

Engineer>Huntress=Mercenary>MUL-T>Artificer>Commando.
Engineer obviously has insanely high scaling, but his severe lack of mobility hurts. Slower clear times, fewer items, a much harder time dealing with more dangerous enemies, and he can't access most of the newt altars, which means he won't reliably get the GOTD.
Huntress and Mercenary both have great mobility, which makes the runs overall easier and gives them access to GOTD and Transcendence in most runs. They both have excellent damage and AOE ability. In spite of being melee, Mercenary is actually one of the easiest characters to survive with. Simply being up in the air and on top of enemies makes you not get hit by most attacks, and he has a decent amount of HP to survive what does hit him, especially once you get Transcendence.
MUL-T is a fat, immobile target. He has pretty good damage but nothing actually useful in his kit. At least his damage is way higher than Commando (with or without items) and way more reliable than Artificer.
Artificer is fun, but ultimately shit. Her range is SEVERELY handicapped by slow projectile speeds, and her close-in ability is handicapped by a complete lack of mobility or defense. She also does not proc items very well, even after the "fix", so her scaling into loop 2+ is awful.
Commando does nothing well and even the fat MUL-T is a better choice for literally anything.

His roll is horizontal only. Both Merc and Huntress have much better movement because dash/blink are actually omnidirectional (they can go up). They also move much further in a single use and are actually able to dodge things.
Simply by being able to hit AOE, the Huntress and Mercenary both pull off far more procs. Commando's M2 is a joke, it's the same aoe as MUL-T's fucking rebar for half the damage and incredibly slow projectile speed (meaning it misses at long range).

Active items ARE meta. Gesture of the Drowned + Royal Capacitor or Portal Missile Launcher. Once you get 4+ GotD you basically never touch any of your non-movement attack buttons again. However, having 2 active items you can switch between doesn't really add very much benefit. How much better is autofireing missiles OR lightning that you can switch between, compared to just one or the other? Either way gets the job done.

He's bigger, so he feels slower. He also seems to have a lower jump/fly speed (with milky chrysalis). Because he's bigger and doesn't move as much relative to his own frame, he gets hit a lot more, which is why he has the most starting HP of any character. Lower turning agility and a rather poor movement ability (compared to moving near instantly like huntress/merc and with 0 verticality) don't help either.
In fact, before the first patch MUL-T was actually FASTER than any other character (base move 9), and he still FELT slow.

Engie may be good in this game but back in ROR1 I spent 15 minutes on the first level, took 15 minutes to beat the next level, by 50 minutes i made it to the 4th level, maybe around 80 minutes to get to the last level, and I beat the game after 100 grueling minutes.
Engies problem in ror1 was that he did JACK SHIT it terms of damage. The only reason how i managed to surive so long and win was because I had 2 goats hoofs, a hopoo feather, 5 jetpacks and an autistic determination to win.
The fact that engies items also go to him and that hes got a damage blocking shield is his saving grace in this game.
Imagine how just 2 changes could turn a character from shit into seemingly the best character in the damn game.

I've never tried with the vagrant, but you can probably LOS behind other enemies too. I know Titans and Golems can't laser through other enemies. Besides, you only need the tiniest bit of cover, a thin tree or fallen branch that doesn't even cover half your body usually works. I expect that the arches of the teleporter should work too.

I don't know what country you are from but over where I am you don't see very many women in the street doing backflips on their way to work. I think what you are referring to is the fact that Sniper's movements don't have a lot of weight, but that can easily be justified by the possibility that Sniper simply doesn't carry a lot of heavy equipment. If you compare Sniper with Commando and Mercenary in the character selection, you can see that they both have bulkier armour. When you compare with Huntress in the character selection, you can see that the lower body for Sniper is completely different and instead resembles the male classes.

Since Lunar items are basically re-designed Artifacts as is, I had an idea for how they could implement Command as a Lunar Item. Basically with the item, every chest you open gives you a multishop-terminal-like choice of 3 possible items. The downside is that the rarity is now fixed, only whites from small chests, only greens from large chests. That means Reds are only possible from legend chests, chance shrines, and the lunar shop, and greens become much rarer as well.

Acrid's melee, spit, and plague can all work just fine as-is. His slime trail would best be reworked into a poison cloud. Affect a large area (maybe self-targetted) with poison gas that damages enemies and increases ally movespeed.
I'd very much like to see as many characters as possible, for me that's the single most important feature for them to add. Maps are basically interchangable once you've played them a couple times. New items and enemies are nice, but characters are more fundamentally game-changing.

Hellfire Tincture is actually really powerful early on. It outdamages the Preon per-use, and it's only got like a 30 second cooldown after the effect ends. I was using it the other day to run Prismatics and kill the boss (clay dunestrider) at level 1 in <15 seconds. I think it procs on-hit items on self damage though, which means that later in the game using it is pretty much instant suicide. Plus having it on GOTD basically means you never get a chance to heal.

Also, I just softlocked against Aurelionite because I got to him several hours into a run and enemies stopped spawning, so I couldn't activate the Halcyon Beacons. I had to let him kill me.
Fun fact: Brilliant Behemoths stacking mechanic doesn't affect their damage, but does affect their AoE. I got a red cauldron in the Bazaar and dumped 20 items into it while playing as Engie. My turrets became highly effective at crowd control because each individual shot exploded larger than anything else in the game.
Other fun things I realized:
Engie grenades set off a Behemoth explosion every time they touch the ground, whether or not they actually detonated. Reflecting your grenades at a low angle will cause a cascade of explosions in front of you.
If you've got a Behemoth and a Ceremonial Dagger, the daggers will set off the BB's blast every time they pass through level geometry, which can be frequent if you're in certain levels and killing things fast enough that the daggers are often switching targets mid-flight.

Was doing a Monsoon run with Huntress and to my surprise, it's going surprisingly well. Got a few Berserker Pauldrons that give me a nice damage spike. Also got an Unstable Tesla Coil on the first level, a Praeon Annihilator, 3 Fuel Cells to lower their cooldown.
Then I get to the Bazaar and get me a Gesture of the Drowned. Game didn't go crazy. So far so good. I get a Soulbound Catalyst from there before continuing.
Next level, I see a Lunar chest and open it. Meteor. I skipped it.
… But the tentation was too big. I came back to get it. 45s CD meteor that lower its cooldown every time an enemy dies. I have two Ceremonial Daggers. And a 57 Leaf Clover.
Also, like 5 Brittle Crown because why not.
My gameplay consists on Running circles around the stage, opening every chest (and getting their contents if I can), try not to die to the enemies or my own meteors (They fucking stun now. I regret everything). Activate the teleporter, duke it out with the boss and see if I survive to fight another day.
The Brittle Crowns are funny. I can amass 30k at the start of the level but as soon as the teleporter is charged, I barely have 2k on me.
I'm afraid I'm not gonna last much longer.

So apparently theres a random bug that makes enemies invincible. I got a Overloading Worm down to 1/3rd HP and then all my attacks stopped doing damage to it. Numbers still showed up but the healthbar wasnt ticking down at all.

Paladin - A blue and modified Beetle Guard. Has the circular shockwave pound, can spit an explosive fireball, and project a wall that blocks all projectiles
Assassin - Extremely unfinished. Insanely high attack stat and wields two daggers. No model, only one ability that works.

Elder Wisp - The big purple motherfuckers from RoR1 that produce massive columns of plasma to attack entire areas.

I didn't make the mods, I only use them. Give this a try, though. Go into Steam/steamapps/common/Risk of Rain 2/Risk of Rain 2_Data/Managed . In there, you'll find a file called Assembly-CSharp.dll. Make a backup of it, then name it something else, and drop this file into the folder.

Personal favorite, but also pretty useless over time. Only the center orb of the center segment of the body counts as where you are, so you have to nose-down into the dirt in order to reach chests and items to open. His damage is alright and his HP is insane, but you're completely dependent on cooldown reduction and backup magazines. His one massive advantage is that his HP pool does fucky things with Blood Shrines. They remove HP on a percentage, but the gold they give is at an exchange rate. So you can get a fuckload of money as him really, really quick. Bustling Fungus is also percentage based, and projects on the ground below you. So if you grab some and then fly up high, you can leave a circle of healing that will put teammates up to full health as soon as they pass through it. I've never had a group coordinated enough to use it like this, though.

I don't care about cheevos, I care about game mechanics. In this case, they happen to be linked, but if they were separate I'd leave all achievements incomplete because I just can't be assed about things that don't give me more gameplay. Don't award me a gold star if I can't shoot it at somebody.
What more is there to accomplish? Prismatic Trials are just normal gameplay, watered down and made into piss-easy 1 or 2 level segments. I was thinking they'd be some awesome challenge mode like "reach level 20 teleporter starting on HAHAHAHAHA difficulty" or "reach level 10, taking any damage instantly kills you". That'd be pretty rad…like once or twice.
The thing is, once you've done a thing, there's no point in doing it again. I've already played several 4+hour marathon games where I only ended up dying because I was too bored to continue.
Shrines of order are neat, but they're way too overpowered. One I got last week turned every single item I had into 55 bomb items. Every enemy I hit turned into a christmas tree of AoE death.
Game needs to be much MUCH harder, at the very least, and monthly updates to keep adding new items and survivors wouldn't hurt. If the final game had ten times the number of items and survivors, and every few weeks the devs wiped everyone's game so you had to unlock everything all over again, I'd be down for that. That'd be replayable.
As it stands, RoR2 is just Slay the Spire reimagined as a third-person combat arena. Unlock everything and then what? Why play? Daily missions don't award you with anything new, so why do them? Are they going to mail me money? No? I'll play something else then until there's new content.

Retired, so basically, yes.
A good game for comparison is Dungeon of the Endless (which I initially thought was made by the same people since it has a similarly abstract art style). Lots to unlock, lots of secrets, challenge runs that are actually hard as balls to complete, but a fully complete run can be finished in an hour - or if you're taking your time, you can pause and continue later.
Maybe just a suspend option, to save a multi-hour game midway and finish it later, would be a good move to alleviate at least part of that shit.

Arti has pretty much the highest DPS second to engineer.
Her fire ability literally always procs due to the speed of ticks and her lack of mobility can be fixed by either doing tons of damage or finding 1 green mobility item.
Also later in the game you can stay more mobile than huntriess, since her R ability makes her an insta kill target if the timing is unluckily synced with some ranged bullshit shooting at you.
If you're not shit at the game you can pretty much use your R on anything in the game, even overloading worm after the change on its movement pattern.
Huntress on the other hand, i think she's pretty shit compared to other characters, early game damage is shit, late game she's too squishy and has that problem with her R ability.

Depends if you have friends, because playing with random people is shit. For example the game's difficulty scales with the number of players so if a random faggot quits in the middle of a stage, the game will be twice as hard for you. If you pirate the game, you wouldn't be missing out on any content since multiplayer is the exact same game except in co-op and scaled difficulty. That said, the game is really fun with friends.

There a recommended down-and-dirty guide on gameplay recording? I've been using OBS and today I decided to record a run and upload it to YouTube, but it kind of looks like ass. I understand resolution and framerate, but I have no benchmarks for what's a good/acceptable bitrate or sampling interval or any of that bullshit.

Multiplayer is fun with friends.
Not so much with randoms. If the host leaves then everybody is kicked out of the game, which occurs frequently with random matchmaking.
You might think you can just avoid not being a host, but there's the kicker; you can't. You can only click the matchmaking button and pray you become one, and leave and restart it if you're not.
This would be a clever solution, was it not for fucking everybody doing this. Every lobby gets spammed with people joining and leaving. And the more people doing it, the harder it is for matchmaking making you a host.
Even when you're host, people are shit and leave when they die. (Just like they do when they're the host.) Or they get bored because the game is on casual mode and they leave instead.
On the note of difficulty; you don't actually get to choose it. Everyone can select a difficulty, and then the game randomly selects one from all the chosen difficulties. So even if you go through the effort of becoming a host, a random shitter can join your game and force it into mindnumbingly boring casual mode. Only for them to leave 2-3 stages later out of boredom, of course.
You can always play with /v/ instead though. But then you should be prepared to dodge meteors.

I recorded some shit myself and I found basic tutorials online to be satisfactory, I just gimped them down to fit in webms. Just be sure to search for recording tutorials and not streaming ones. Also the devs seem to see fit to change their settings UI over time for some reason, so that may be a hurdle.
