didn't see anything in the catalog about GPUs, so here it goes.
my 1050 ti is pretty obsolete now, so I'm thinking about buying the rx 590 that just came out as I hear the 1660 gtx is a waste. My budget is strictly a mid-range card, I can't bring myself to spend more.
Thing is, the new "Navi" cards are supposed to come out in July. Plus the playstation 5 is coming for console fags and that has ramifications on card tech.
Should I wait on Navi? What is /v/ doing?

Hell, most the good games don't even require hardware from nearly 10 years ago. A Phenom II / HD6850 will still allow you to play some of the best games just not current AAA console port trash at high resolutions. People need to realize video games are slaves to the GPU manufactures and are made to perform like shit just so you'll give them $500 every 2 years to get 30% better performance in the next heavily marketed multiplayer shooter.

I have a 380 4GB, it is paired fine enough with the 8350fx but I will have to upgrade both to play newer titles. I still have a lot of backlog of PC games to go thru which current specs can handle easily. So the longer I wait, the better my next setup is. The 580 has been tempting with low prices but that will not do me good for the long run. I won't be buying the censorstation 5 but I will be looking for the specs of it to determine the value of GPUs in general which will respond in kind. I recommend you wait, OP. A good rule of thumb is to not buy a PS5, but whatever it would have cost, put that savings to the GPU.

Upgraded from a 1080 Ti to a 2080 Ti (unboxed on /v/ 2 weeks ago but nobody guessed what it was).
My 1080 Ti was on water, but this 2080 Ti is on air and it's distracting as fuck. I was going to play Metro, but can't get into the game because of the fan noise even with closed headphones. GPU temp peaked at 77C under load, so I could tune the fan down a bit and run it in the 80s, but fuck that. I'll just put off playing Metro for now. I'll order a waterblock for the 2080 Ti next week and add it to my open loop so I don't have to hear such obnoxious fan noise.
Should add another radiator as well since the new CPU (i9-9900K) is dumping a lot of heat into the loop already. I have a separate return channel on the pump head so I could split the loop and the heat, but the GPU portion won't go through the reservoir so it would supposedly be a bit less effective. I don't want to dump GPU heat onto the CPU by chaining the loop, but I've heard that having your CPU after your GPU in the loop only adds a few degrees to CPU temp. I dunno, I kinda want to run a split loop because if I can avoid feeding heat to the CPU then why not.

<added cost of NVlink bridge
<SLI has been pretty much abandoned
I've had multi GPU. The support for it was only getting worse and worse. With a single 2080 Ti I can max anything at 1440p 165Hz and get some proper longevity out of it. The only thing more I could ask for is a quieter system and maybe a monitor upgrade later on.

Considering it bottlenecks anything above a 1060, it will. Also 4c 8t cpus have been dying off since ryzen launched and with intel moving to a new architecture that will undoubtedly have more cores and threads, they will soon become the new 2c 4t, obsolete. Unless you're going for a place holder I'd get at least a 1600 or wait for ryzen 3000

RX 480 is no joke the best card for the current market. It has the power to run everything worth playing and can handle less taxing VR stuff for if you want to dip your toes into that.

Did Moore's law in the 200-400$ GPU range die in 2016?

Best you'll get right now is a 1050ti LP just search for that and you'll find something

Oh boy mining blower Vega 56s going for cheap.
Might pick one up to upgrade from 1060 3GB.
Or wait for Navi. It'll probably be nothing special though.

Seems they're starting to patch in the first bits of Navi code in the amdgpu loonix driver.
I just want the sub-500$ GPU market to be the prime profit generator again, Nvidia's 1200$ single GPU cancer train needs to end already.

Factor in the cost of a total recap plus water system

Recap should run $10 though I won't be doing that. They're still in warranty anyway.
For cooling I'll just get a AIO for $30.

Vega 56 miner GPUs going for extremely cheap right now - I got mine as a direct upgrade from my 390, and flashed in the 64 bios to get that perfect undervolt. Has given me absolutely no issues, which by itself is commentary on miners, I suppose.

Still got my xfx rx480 that I bought a little bit after it came out, still plays everything fines at 1080p, I have still no reason to replace it.

Grabbed a used 1070ti for 300 on eBay on Black Friday to replace my 970. The only game I’ve actually used the extra power for is Nioh.

>Radeons cost way too much
Did you even read your own chart you dumb fuck. It says the RX 570 is the best value out there (at $140) and the RX 580 is pretty close too (at $200).
I just checked and the prices on both of those are actually lower while the Nvidia ones are right at that, so dont say stupid shit and give anons the idea they HAVE to spend the 220+ dollars if they want a decent value graphics card.
This anon has a chart with the same conclusion.

can you motherfuckers tell me if a 1300x Ryzen is too weak for a Vega 56? How high would I need to go with a CPU?

With the number of RMA being done on 20XX series cards excluding the 2060 they're both badly priced and bad cards.

At 1080/144 you're going to get limited by the CPU in more recent titles and a few very demanding older ones, nothing too terrible, just go for it.

>performance wise it was almost no upgrade from 780ti
What. I got 1070ti while I used to have a 780ti and the performance is a clear big upgrade. Games I had to run on the lowest settings and still not reach 60fps I can now run on max and 60fps.
d5f4d4 No.16410779
>>16410773
Actually I can most of the time run them well above 60fps, but I just decide to not torture the card needlessly. Though It never gets above 65C no matter. The old one runs like a hot potato.
