Name a game you like that you genuinely feel can benefit from a remake and explain why.

I think 999 could use a remake with rewrites to most (if not all) of its alternate endings because a lot of the endings contradict the true ending in ways that should not be changed by actions in the plot. It's nonsense that you choosing different rooms to go through results in the setting changing from the real ending ofa facility in Nevada to an actual duplicate of the titanic with a yellow submarine by it

It's really the only major problem with the story of the trilogy as a whole, so I would really like that to be patched up via a remake.

Spy Fiction, mentioned in the spy games thread. It was the first game Swery directed (he did work on The Last Blade prior).

Basically it is a MGS knockoff with a large focus on high-tech disguises. As in, you take photos of any NPC and you can assume their appearance. Story wise it's a definite love letter to espionage movies with a tone that's best described as goofily serious. There's also a files system with autistic pop-culture based lore, shit like coming up with a spy TV show with agents that have fish-based codenames. Forrest Kaizen also makes his first appearance as a crooked scientist you have to seduce if you play as the girl.

Oh yeah, and there is a shameless reenactment of that Mission Impossible scene.

However, you know swery, and can imagine how rough the game he made before Deadly Premonition can be. Too rough to be widely talked about even as swery's first game. It's not completely shit by any means, and it's worth emulating, but there is no question it could become a nice, corny cult classic with better gameplay and polish.

Crash Twinsanity, the developers were given a year to make said game and they only managed to implement about 40% of their ideas, hopefully they give them another chance now that the remake of the first three games and nitro kart proved to be successful. Funny how twinsanity still managed to be a good game on par with the PS1 games despite all that.

I thought the submarine and flooding was because the facility had to be an exact replica of the ship and they had enough money and autism at hand to include those details. I don't think you ever actually 100% confirm you're not in the desert. But it's been too long, maybe I'm not remembering right.

You are always in the Q building in Nevada. There is a submarine room because the original ship had one built in. Also, the director said the sub was functional but it just connects to a little cave with no exit to surface.

The game already had a remaster and I think it's just fine except that for some reason they changed the fucking final puzzle.

>Devs forced to wrap it up and ship it while only partway into development because the publisher went bankrupt and wanted to squeeze some last few shekels out

>Buggy as hell

>Assloads of cut content

>Gameplay can easily be cheesed due to the bind/rebind trick and power bar swapping, eliminating any need for strategy, and making the orders system near-useless

>Gold Plasm (the upgrade currency) is in ridiculously small supply

>Many types of powers are heavily outclassed by other powers, despite similar power level

>Art style deviated heavily from concept art style

Ghost Master would heavily, heavily benefit from a remake with the bugs fixed, cut content restored, and gameplay made more restrictive so you actually need to use the orders system instead of just being able to cheese everything.

Because it did things no other shooter did, but suffered from broken AI, unforgiving difficulty, money being not that useful, and well…some of its advantages, like the open world aspect, could be now fleshed out more.

A lot of the game's flaws can be attributed to a guest dev team. Give it some better modeling and animations, a combat system that didn't feel two steps back from the direction the series had been moving at the time (keep throws and counters though), on field encounters that Tales was then starting to dabble in for console entries starting with Symphonia, bring back the four player couch co-op console Tales had offered before and since, and have the character quests actually properly voiced in the western release this time. The rest could be more or less left as is (even the decidedly weird character designs, as they're rather iconic within the series), especially the music. I wouldn't even want it to be given the obligatory remake musical arrangement treatment (or at least allow the player a choice in which to use), because the OST was always Legendia's highest point.

Probably the only main series Tales left at this point that could be said to out and out benefit from a full remake. Even Eternia holds up better than it does without having been given one.

Skies of Arcadia deserves a remake/remaster in my opinion. There is everything in this game : big world to dicover, hunting pirates, find crew members, treasure hunting, great and impressive story… With better graphics, morality choices or things like that it would be amazing

You're always in Nevada. One of the few things the author confirmed was that the hatch in the submarine bay leads to a dead end. You don't get any mention of the killer going inside the submarine, mainly because you're dying and all that, but there would be no reason to do that. Not that Junpei would ever know.

Thief 1-3

I love these games to death and I think they could benefit from a new coat of paint but in the current market they'd probably dumb down the mechanics and add markers everywhere. Games where you're dropped in an environment and have to navigate it using your head aren't made anymore, either the level designs railroads you (dishonored) or they're always pointing you where you need to go (also dishonored).

Another franchise I'd like to see get remade is Rainbow Six up to 3.

However the issue with both series is that these are games for people with brains and the industry doesn't make those games anymore.
