Just noticed this existed, It's essentially Burnout minus some OTT bells and whistles but will give any old treesiddy owner with half decent taste a little twitch in their balls, it could do with a soundtrack, not seen a Crash Mode yet (which is a fucking pisser) and maybe could use more garage shit to fiddle with but it's not bad overall.

Burnout paradise is a sandbox game. The actual objectives the game gives you are pretty shallow but are ok distractions. The real fun comes from seeing how fast you can maneuver around difficult roads and find stunt paths and then just at the end of your run smacking your car into a railing at a 90 degree angle and watching your car's crumple zone crumple so hard it turns perfectly flat. And then the car explodes in a paint scraping blood curdling metallic screaming hunk of unusable totalled junk as you sit there laughing at the world's least survivable car accident.
The accident you caused. And you laugh. Because it was no accident.
Don't buy the game. Pirate it.

I hated it. It's billed as being a sandbox racer where any race can have any route in the city. The reality is, any race is won the second you get on the straight line leading to the finish line and get boost. The AI just can't catch up to you.
Meanwhile crashes feel scripted and not as satisfying as they did. I'm not sure how to accurately describe it, but gravity feels unnatural during your crash animations and you can crash for not even touching something, or giving an opponent a light tap. It just doesn't feel as exhilarating as Takedown did.

Burnout Dominator is a great entry in the series that's really underrated and overlooked, probably because it was released only for the PSP and PS2 when the Xbox 360 and PS3 were already around and Burnout Paradise had already been announced. I actually like Dominator more than 3 and Revenge, especially because it completely scrapped the crash mode which I've never been a fan of, and only focuses on high speed events. I also think the tracks from Dominator are better than Revenge, and while all of them have trash songs, on the whole the soundtrack is much better than in 3 and Revenge.
If you're going to play or emulate Burnout Dominator get the PS2 version, it has much better graphics than the PSP version and runs at 60 fps.

This, but also your burnout chain dictated your score multiplier for driving oncoming, drifting, and air time. My only qualm with it is that you only get two laps per run, instead of something like getting to extend your time indefinitely.

That's be bad though. You'd have to either quit or crash in order to end the event. That'd kill the fun of finishing it going fast.
0b8687 No.16367159

Ideally the time constraint would become hard enough that only perfect driving would get you to the next checkpoint/lap to extend your time. Also if we're making wishes, import in the Heatwave mechanic from Dangerous Driving that increases your top speed by 2 MPH for every successful burnout chain to ensure it gets infinitely harder.
