It was okay, and there isn't much furry gay shit than kemono buddies to beastmen in-game, there wasn't anything suspect or terrible with the translation, but you might not like it, seems pretty studio ghibli-tier localization

Go for it, game's pretty serviceable for the PC, go check find those latest torrents with the DLCs.

I wouldn't call it pozzed, but you'll spend most of the game feeling like you're playing a kid's game. This is a combined problem of both the plot/characters and the notoriously patronizing difficulty of the game, in which you can ```literally``` win every single fight in the game by simply mashing the attack button. There's no reason to even bother to learn any of the combat mechanics. The latter issue is allegedly mitigated slightly by the difficulty patch, which I'd say is absolutely mandatory if you plan on playing it.

Can confirm. I always start a game on Normal because it's the vanilla difficulty and let's me replay it later with greater challenge, but I had to increase it substantially later on because of how easy it is.

It's mostly that damage became a lot more punitive so you have to actually dodge and use tactics to end fights faster or keep in mind who you're attacking and their level. Better experience overall, though it's a bit annoying traveling the overworld and seeing a bunch of murderous freaks I have to let go for now.

It was alright. Way too easy, but I hear they released a "hard mode" patch, but I've never played it.

It gets boring after a while because the combat is so repetitive and you need so many people to upgrade your kingdom to the maximum level, I just gave up and beat the game at that point.

Yea DQ11 was the superior game by far, but both had similar issues of being way too easy without using the special difficulty modifiers.

I'm probably reading too much into it because of all the stories of actual Silicon Valley executives, but that was just weird. The other, similar case, was someone saying "we need some time apart so we can prepare the wedding."

I was severely disappointed in the lack of /ss/, and the closest thing that came to it was strange. A big part of that is because it came from one of the feminists of the silicon valley area.

It is kiddy in the sense of condescending. You could do some interesting stuff with most of the premise without making it not for kids, but they don't. Every time I thought they might, I was disappointed..They don't tie the quests to the kingdom and kingdom expansion very well, making it feel more like busywork and Evan less like a king and more like an errand boy. I also didn't think Evan did that much growing, despite the game telling you that he was. He starts off as a stupidly idealistic person who takes on too much himself and ends up like that as well.

Plus, it has the usual message of "we can just set aside our differences and live in peace!" Fuck no, you can't. The game indirectly acknowledges that the only reason things are working is because of Evan and the party with the ending. His son is the one that finishes uniting the world. You really think that the descendants of the people who got higher positions in the founding days of the kingdom wouldn't leverage their position for more power, and abuse that? You don't think that there won't be a bad egg at some point in the family line?

Combat was also way too easy and even worse if you bothered to do the big monsters to power level past where you should be.

The first 5 minutes of the game are fucking incredible. It never lives up to those 5 minutes again. Beyond that crushing disappointment, building your kingdom is kinda comfy, if somewhat shallow.

The most disappointing thing about the unite-the-world plot was that none of the nations actually had any beef with each other. All of their conflicts were internal. You didn't have Hydropolis's traditions conflicting with Broadleaf's runaway development or Ding Dong Dell taking issue with Goldpaw's predatory gambling. There were no wars between the major powers, despite the gameplay being easily able to support it. None of them seemed to care about each other.

True, the most they did was make snide comments to each other. The game tells you it was a land rife in war, but it is superficial in that regard too. Most of the war comes from the monsters and bandits/barbarians which form armies to fuck up civilizations. Which, when you combine that, makes some of the civilizations make no fucking sense. Broadleaf is new, and we see that they displaced the barbarians and monsters there to have their place, but where did the humans come from, and who were they selling stuff to? We only see their technology in Broadleaf, and in that stupid fucking tablet thing. Access to Broadleaf requires either an airship, or a ship that can jump, something that no one is really familiar with outside of Hydropolis; which was incredibly isolationist at the start of the game. Their big hit was a catalyst that allowed non-magic users to use magic, yet Roland is given magic by another magic user through a spell, and being a non-native to the world, he should be the least magically inclined person on the planet. Who are they selling this item to? We don't see it used outside of Broadleaf, and I believe only the CEO is shown using it.

I would have enjoyed the "unite the world" plot if it weren't actually the entire planet, and if it was conquer by proxy. The Kingmakers are supposed to be kingdom destroyers, so simultaneously saving the kingdom from destruction, and essentially attacking the ruler's divine right to rule would have been an interesting way to go about it.

Just played Ni no Kuni 2 for the first time this week. It's shit, not even worth pirating. It's unironically and literally, the most linear JRPG I have ever played.

It fools you in the beginning by presenting a huge, vast overworld map that makes you think otherwise, but remote areas are empty and have nothing but standard monsters and shit loot that isn't worth the effort to look for them.

I kept playing for a bit longer in hopes that maybe the game would open up later and become more open ended, with exploration and sidequests given by NPCs. But it never did. I've played up to reaching Golden Paw, and after sorting the objectives in that location and the game still being the JRPG equivalent of a modern CoD SP campaign, that's when I dropped it and uninstalled.

There are literally zero sidequests. Talking to any NPC in any location is a complete waste of time, even if you just talk to NPCs for lore or reading the occasional funny / witty line, almost none of them say anything worth reading. In towns you can't enter any of the buildings, except those with events related to the main quest and even then, they will be locked until the event triggers.

It's the kind of game that starts out very good and fools you into thinking that will become great later on, but instead it only grows more and more mediocre.

It doesn't even look that good. Looks amazing in some cherry-picked screenshots, but in many locations it shows PS2 tier graphics. The only good thing I'd have to say about the game is that there are lots of cute NPC girls, especially the kemono girls in Golden Paw.

I have heard often that the first game is better in every way, including visuals. Might try it out if it ever gets supported in RPCS3, but this one was a disappointment.

At least it was better than the first game. A simpleton's rpg with rotten mechanics and grindtastic progression, it was one of the few games I dropped midway in disgust (and I usually endure anything).
