>What is it?
The product of Richard Garriott's and NCSoft's efforts back in 2003. Base game was locked behind a subscription and contained only a limited amount of content, but as time went on, this was remedied through expansion packs. At one point in a development process, the game's balance was fucked up VERY hard, so the consensus between what players there are left is that it's better to play on earlier versions of the game. We are playing on a Classic version of the game, which is almost a 1:1 copy of the game back when it was released.
Server, in which we're playing right now is infested with Brazillians, Chinese and Russians, as it is often the case with free MMOs.
>Why play this? Everybody knows that all theme park MMOs are dogshit and EVE is boomer central/spreadsheet simulator/goonhive.
This game is rather unique in that while the base game is a themepark MMO, it forces people to play together to survive in the vast wilderness of the grinding fields - killing people and getting killed in turn is very easy if you have shit gear for your level and even with good gear it is still easy. Every death is a static -4% EXP penalty and on the later levels, generic monsters will only give out around 0.05% of your EXP bar. Quests are more or less useless in that regard, so fast-paced party grinding is the order of the day.
Top spots for grinding and money-making on top levels, however, are usually strictly occupied by powerful clans leveling in big parties that will kill you and take no prisoners in order to rake gigantic amounts of money in materials and make their +10 overenchanted staves into +12 ones. With proper funding made from excessive amounts of grind, however, it is possible for anons to gather one big party, apply copious amounts of strategy to find out ways to better kill the enemy without dying ourselves, have our clan claim the title of TOP JEWS, participate in a castle siege, strategically allying ourselves with BR's/chinks/хаха's, claim the castle to our guild and go around killing niggerfaggots inside previously mentioned grinding spots.
The main draw, however, ignoring most of the bullshit above is killing subhumans together in a big funposting squad. This is a team game and it is wonderful if you can tolerate the truly staggering amount of grind required to get there.
>Shieet nigga, how does the game work?
Download a client, make an account on the server - feel free to use temporary e-mail, it doesn't care - make a character and play the game. Using the wiki will be more or less required to learn specific mob loot tables and how to complete class transfer quests. After making a character, either post the IGN in the thread or level to 20 to escape the spam filter and whisper to one of the fags in the clan that can invite you.
If you want to find out what each class is good at in advance, below are some helpful links to the skill lists. Ignore Kamael entries - that race was added in the later update that fucked up the game. Only L2wiki can be trusted to be accurate with the loot tables because of server's expansion. Take note, however, that Lineage 2 enhancer classes - buffers, that is, can improve stats of a group by a LARGE margin. I've made an Overlord for clan buffs and one other fag is running a Bladedancer, so we're more or less good on that front, but do consider that buffs + DPS classes is how things generally work around here in PvP.

SERVER INFORMATION
We're playing Classic Club, one of the only servers where L2 is acceptable these days. Other servers either feature a heavy amount of P2W bullshit, have plain higher EXP rates which causes server's cancer population to intensify tenfold or go overboard with something else. Either way, this freeshard seemed to be the best option at the time. I can't find any indication about server's location, but it does offer multiple proxy servers in the connection menu.
Server runs a Lineage II Classic variation - for all intents and purposes it's C1 with some stuff from C2 added on like Alligator Island. Server owner fags are OBTing Zaken last time I checked. Multiboxing is locked behind getting a premium account, which could, potentially, be bought for in-game money. The game has an in-built auction house system, which is really glorified server-owned RMT bullshit. It is more or less tolerable though because in this game great numbers + good gear > poor numbers + greatest gear possible.

It is absolutely not too late to catch up to ride with us if you start now and because we've grinded a lot and made preparations right and proper, we've got hand-me-down equipment to give you fags to help YOU level faster if you plan to stay and possibly some C-grade equipment too. My alts, as mentioned in the previous thread are Shekelberg, WEWUZ and MAXCRAFT. I'm going to try to be on almost every day - will make sure to bump the thread with screenshots.

no, that's archeage. in archeage you build and pilot your own ship. in Lineage II its like a bus: you buy a ticket, stand on board the ship, and the ship navigates a route to a destination, and its real time, so you have to stand on the ship for the entire duration of the trip.

I have no idea about FFXI but grinding in this can go from clusterfuck to relaxed. You can aggro 200 mobs, stun them all at once and kill them or take it easy 1 by 1. There's also an inbetween of course.
Parties are pretty good when farming tougher mobs as you gang up on one or kite a small group while the party focuses on a single target.
Then it depends on how much you like repetitive stuff, again, i have no idea about FFXI, but with the grind in this my brain shuts down. If it's a positive or a negative thing i'll leave it up to you.

the grind in L2 was more power-level kind of grind. in XI you have to kill one at a time in a group, in L2 you just agro an entire area and then kill everything with AoE nukes, at least later on. at the beginning you kill one at a time as usual.

To anyone wondering why there's 500 dwarves with similar names selling overpriced shit, it's not donors with premium accounts. Apparently you can set up an offline shop for free at giran harbor and you don't need the offline item from the p2w shop.
The command is ".offline_shop", so if you ever need to sell something just set up your shop at GH and type that. It will disconnect you but you stay logged ingame with your (((shop))). When you try to log back in later it might give you a "this account is already in use" message but just keep trying to log in, you'll get in eventually. If you wanna afk fish on the other hand you must stay logged in with your PC on, so sure you make more money in case you don't sell anything but you're wasting electricity.

Played this in past for many years in an Arabic server until I got sick of it. PVP/PK and castle siege were so much fun and having small numbered sever with a few hundreds of players makes it more fun since there will be people that you will see much and remember their names and want to destroy etc. If not mistaken mages were top in old versions depending on server enchantments balance. I mostly know about Russians but Chinese? Don't remember encountering them in other private servers. Waiting for raid boss respawn time is painful though and time consuming. Anyway good luck.

As for the best class to farm shit, our totally not biased summoner told us summoners were the best class to play to farm solo. But since it's a party based mmorpg, every class more or less shine in a party, so don't feel obligated to take a summoner class just because you can easily solo with it.

However, you have to play spoiler to get money in this game, therefore my class is objectively the best class. You can't go wrong with money - it's needed for everything. The only downside is that you'll want to kill yourself from grind if you're not careful.
To be more serious, however, after 60 we're probably gonna see a lot of PvP and both summoners and spoilers will struggle with that. There's no magical option to go PvE only and to avoid that - most players join clans to protect themselves from PK and other clans and such. However, aside from the aforementioned two, archers happen to be good farmers because of their attack range.

There are four kinds of healslut right now.
1. Full-on healslut - Human Mystic -> Bishop
Maximum HP healing, no other class tops this. Premium in never-gonna-die science. Great in PvE because of sheer MP-to-HP ratio. Can increase MaxHP by a large amount, much like a prophet. Is pretty useful in large leveling parties and Raid Boss parties.
2. Buffer/Healslut - Human Mystic -> Prophet
Lineage II is a game where buffs are king - as in, proper buffs can make you do fucktons more damage, even more so than a mage. Prophet sacrifices healing effectiveness to make teammates hit hard for a limited time, take less damage, have expanded HP/MP bars, have more evasion/accuracy and so much more. After buffing, however, your mana will probably go to die, so he not only heals for less than an average healslut, but also can only do so much with what's left of his mana after buffing everyone. He also has a single-target root skill, which, predictably, takes even more of his mana than what he already doesn't have.
3. Recharger/Healslut - Elf Mystic -> Elven Elder or Dark Elf Mystic -> Shillien Elder
Mages are fucking overpowered in this game. They deal tons of damage and as a result, with proper gear, they almost always one-shot or two-shot mobs. They're also able to put forward absolutely retarded damage in PvP and if one stacks buffs and overenchants equipment, they're pretty much gods as long as nobody singles them out to kill them specifically. However, they run out of MP - both in PvE and in PvP at lightning speeds. All of them can convert HP to MP, to be fair, but that takes time and conversion ratio isn't all that good. Enter Recharger classes - their god-given duty is to supply mages their damage juice. Both of them have heals and both situational and very useful buffs. EE can buff Stun Resist, the most important stat that makes people less susceptible to losing to stunlock in PvP and he can teleport the entire party to the village near-instantly at high-levels to prevent unfair party wipes to PKfags. SE has two very important buffs - Vampiric Rage, which leeches life from melee attacks, extremely important and Empower, a 55%-75% (!) matk buff. Both of those can be acquired from fish stews, but those are extremely expensive. If you're there when it counts, you save 10k money per buff applied. There's also debuffs that make monsters take more damage from melee weapons.
4. PvP specialized Healslut - Orc Mystic -> Overlord
You get buffs, a Heal over Time spell, AoE debuffs and tons of CP healing. CP is consumed before HP in a fight, which is amazing, but because all your skills are supposed to affect clan members only it's a meme of a class. Is only source of direct CP healing. On this server, for some retarded reason, your party is affected by clan skills too, making this surprisingly viable. However, I'm leveling an Overlord already, so we don't need that right now.
I'd say to take whatever class that you want out of the first three points mentioned. Bishop is an all-around choice and maximum healslut mode. Prophet is best long-long term, but is farthest from healslut out of those three and is by FAR the hardest and the most frustrating character to level. EE/SE is magebuff and spoiler enabling machine and we already have 2 mages and 1 spoiler here from active people, so you'll be really welcomed. Just make sure to get to our level so that you'll be useful.

Many things on this server differ from the wiki. The reason for that is because it's running an earlier version of Classic from official NCSoft servers, but some changes are also made deliberately for balance. This is one of those things - there's no set bonus on Moon Armor.

I hear it's generally parties only for leveling after 50-60 and most have buffers, so you're not losing very much. But yes, boxed buffers are extremely good for doing RBs over here. Well, at least you don't have to worry about absolutely everyone running 2+ windows as a standard.

It's honestly not as bad as you make it to be. Buffs are needed sure, but i haven't gone in a single party for a raid boss that didn't have someone with a buffer alt. And you don't have to pay for it. If you join a clan chances are there's a buffer multiple people share just to buff them, and they'll share it with you. As for the ">dozens of people to be online and ready" there literally are, server is global and it's always full of people no matter the time.

Also, it's a social game, i'd rather have p2w buffer accounts than a fucking NPC buffer, which makes the point of buffs completely meaningless.
For crafting there's dwarves sitting at the market, they craft pretty much everything and they're not too expensive, worst i've spent is a 30k craft cost for a 4kk worth armor. Seller alts you can make a free account, set up a character and mail it your stuff. make a shop at the market zone and go offline, while the shop stays up online indefinitely until you sell your shit. All this means you don't have to manage multiple characters if you don't want to, there's really no need.
Online auction/p2w items yes, it's kinda bullshit and i can't argue with that. There's gateways or something that should reduce the lag somewhat, as for high ping class a melee for sure so the soulshots don't get delayed like the mage classes. Maybe a tank class to survive even if you take hits while lagging.
That said it really shouldn't be that terrible, there's BRs playing just fine and also people from china, pretty much all over the world. Haven't seen anyone complain about lagging too much, beside those occasions where their internet simply gives up on them.

No, they're just PvP-oriented and nothing else. Daggers have Hide and Backstab, meaning that they can stack Crit. Damage and fuck over other classes by using Backstab while hiding to potentially one-shot people. They, however, run out of mana fast and daggers are shit weapons for armor penetration. There are some gimmicks for each dagger class, like Dark Elf daggers get Hex (physical defense debuff) and good self-buffs at 3rd prof, Elf daggers get a weak healing spell and Human daggers get a dash so that you can fuck up people out of Hide even faster, but yeah, against mobs they're a bit shit because daggers are a weak weapon type and you can't Backstab all mobs you see because of running out of mana.

Five of us are active right now - three supports, one cdl nuker mage and one dagger's catching up to us. We're grinding for B gear for those who are playing and leveling for it so that we don't have to do so later on - just today we've got top B armor for our SE. People log relatively frequently, but because lately I haven't been able to log and grind properly, things have been slow. If there's something else to add, it's that I haven't been able to level Ovelord that much lately because of how necessary having a spoiler is to a profitable non-aoe party, so there is that.

There's no mana potions, you have to sit to regen it or have an SE/EE follow you and have them recharge you. Mana is a big issue for mages if you're leveling alone but you can get to 40, even 45, alone with just raid bosses and sitting. After that you'll have to make friends or open party rooms in party finder for rechargers. You can also pay for a premium account and make an SE/EE yourself, but lmao >paying for games.

There's the shitty wind walk potions which give effect 1, if you wanna run faster you'll have to make a class that can actually run faster with self buffs or songs. Or have a buffer give you wind walk 2 which is +33 speed.

Unless you have a 1366x768 screen like some poor russian faggot the chat shouldn't matter too much, and you'll get used to the keys with time. God know i did when i was playing both this and grim dawn, but now pressing tab to open inventory comes natural. As for the rebinding it's personal preference really, i haven't rebound anything myself.

World is empty at the start because leveling from 1 to 40 maybe even 50 is super fucking fast. Once you get to the "average" levels, around 65, you'll start seeing many more people at places like ancient battleground, blazing swamp or silent valley (which is also a good place to pick up money from the ground if you're poor)

And if you level reasonably quick you'll get to play with us when you're 55 or around, and it's not gonna take long. Considering we'll help you with free gear that by the way took us a fuckton of hours to buy for ourselves starting from scratch, plus i can check "cams" to quickly find raid bosses (cams are level 1 character you park at a raid boss location to see if it's alive) so you can level up superfast by doing those.
