pretty good list, although I prefer earlier Rush rush 2049 felt like a lame ripoff version of Motorhead which itself is was a early Need for speed knockoff set in generic california speed future world
Driver76 remake never ever
Simcade is best, midnight club 2 had it pretty close to peak balance with arcadey elements in gameblay like nitrous and drafting being basically mario kart mushrooms, in midnight club 3 cars feel like unstoppable bricks that brush off cars like you hit a traffic cone, MC 2 cars got unstable and lost traction when you went on unstable terrain, theyd understeer or get squirelly and loose round corners, if they RWD you could gracefully glide like keichi, when you went off a jump you werent some magical instrument from the force of god that was going to land square on the ground at 160 mph and drive off like nothing happened, your car at least pretended it just had all 4 of its wheels of the ground and was airborne and you hopped and lost traction and if careless would flip or spinout after landing

As for my favorites, pic related. As for what I liked, I'm a sucked for the speed sensation, one cool thing about Jak X is that everything granted you blue echo to boost your speed, from hitting enemies to drifting and at point you could have your blue echo bar full while turboing and the speed you reached felt fantastic. Another thing is customization, I love making a car to fit what I need or want, one of the reasons I didn't like Burnout 3 was because all models were preselected instead of having a degree of modification. But the speed was present.

Burnout has some cheeky moments where traffic rides in through the corner, like through the invisible walls that forbid you from going straight or in the opposite direction of the turn, and you can end up T-boning them if you're too close to the outer wall. Burnout has some challenge to it since it has plenty of spots in the track itself where you can get crash your teeth straight into at high speed, like pillars and wall corners.

It's just straight up fucked, since there's a challenge on the same track that require one lap in 40 seconds for the gold but that one requires you to do three damn laps in 1:30 and the best I can get is 34 seconds on a single lap and that's already fucking hard to get at all, 3 in a row gets hairy but I just did it but going 4 fucking seconds faster per lap is just not doable.

The game Need for Speed World already combined the overworlds of Most Wanted and Carbon together. (It also works via a private server now). I doubt people will care enough about porting over missions from either game though.
What this will allow for that's more exciting is fully integrating Olympic City (UG1), Bayview (UG2), Rockport (MW), and Palmont (Carbon) together in 1 single world with MW/Carbon's police. People have done mockups of it already. Or potentially even more ambitious ideas like porting San Andreas to Most Wanted.

That's not the same as what Burnout did. On the original Xbox, in games like Takedown and Revenge your custom music would sound integrated and mixed in the game. A new track would play whenever you switched menus or start a race. The volume also fluctuated depending on what was going on in the game. It also helped that the series had mostly awful emasculating pop punk and emo songs playing by default and it greatly improved the game when you had a custom metal playlist instead.

I decided to replay NFS Hot Pursuit 2. Are there any essential mods like High Stakes' Expansion Pack?
Also, are recent (post MW2012) NFS games worth playing? I never paid much attention to them so I have no idea if they're any good.

There's no reason the devs couldn't have added support just for free codecs such as ogg and flac. Probably they're just greedy kikes and made some kind of deal with Spotify, or maybe they were just too lazy to add custom soundtracks and it would only be polishing a steaming turd anyways.

Probably a little bit of all three. They made it Epic store exclusive and the game is just OK.

>the game is just OK.
The mere abscence of any form of soundtrack in what is supposed to be an almost direct sequel to Burnout 3, is more than enough to make it not OK at all. And that's far from being the only problem with the game.

Maybe I'm just too burned on recent game licenced soundtracks recently, but not having one is better than an outright shitty one.
Fuck you Forza Horizon 4.

Valid point, but I meant it not even having the option of just setting up a directory with your own songs in .ogg or .flac. (((Spotify))) doesn't really count.
I know it's possible to just play your soundtrack in the background on a media player but it's not the same: >>16348339
Anyways, the lack of music options is far from being the only thing wrong with the game so it's kind of moot at this point.

so i took a bullet for all you faggots, here's what i think of DD.
>graphics are nice enough not to be too distracting from the rest of the game
>its fast
>most of the original burnout modes are back
-car models don't get crushed at crash, they only add some bump maps to make it look like the car is dent a bit but i don't any issue with that since the game was made by only 7 people
-if you're in a looped track your takedowns don't disappear, they stay on the track.
-no ost so i generally just play burnout 2 ost in the background
-traffic vehicles placed/spawn on random. in B2, 3, 4 traffic is placed so you can avoid it if you know where and what type of vehicles spawn, so you might be going through a turn and then there's a semi in your face and its unavoidable.
-tracks are OK at best.
<bloom… i mean the fucking sun bull blind you.
<cars feel floaty. it feels like im driving a hover vehicle. this is also noticeable during crashes. the second the car crashes it just comes to a dead stop, like the car his 0 momentum
<car goes though turns EASILY without drifting.
<drifting is retarded to execute, your car has to be turning hard then you tab the break button. in previous games it was either you turn and break simultaneously. or break then turn that works too or turn a tiny tiny tiny but and hit the break that would make your car drift as well, but in this game no no no your car has to be in full turn first then and only then it can drift.

This. Besides the abscence of soundtrack, these are the things that bugged me:
>tracks are OK at best.
- Track layout and design feels extremely generic and uninspired. The track layouts feel more like a modern NFS game than Burnout, with many segments not very suitable for drifting or takedowns. Landscapes/scenery feel extremely generic and lifeless, and mostly remain the same over the entire track - unlike Burnout tracks, which are full of unique areas/locations and once you're familiar with them, you can point which part of the track it is just by looking at the scenery in a screenshot.
>traffic vehicles placed/spawn on random.
- Yes, in fact one of the first things I've noticed when I started playing was the AI traffic RNG fuckery. It really bothered me a lot and they ruin some events. For the same event, sometimes you'll do races with barely any traffic, other times you'll be racing through rush hour traffic. Getting gold on lap time attack events is more a matter of luck than skill because of it, since after doing a perfect run, you have to keep praying that a bus won't spawn right in the middle of your racing line on the last turn before the finish line.
>bloom… i mean the fucking sun bull blind you.
- This also was an occasional issue in Burnout 3 and especially Revenge and Dominator, but only in a few select segments of a few tracks. In DD it's fucking everywhere all the time, obscene amounts of glare and bloom both in the horizon and track surface that sometimes you can't even see where the fuck you're going much less the incoming traffic. And it becomes exponentially worse when combined with the weird angle used in the 3rd person external camera, which is too low and close to the road.
>cars feel floaty. it feels like im driving a hover vehicle.
- Exactly my impression. Physics are completely effed up. Too floaty, almost like an antigravity racer. Feels like they have 0 contact with the track surface. Drifting isn't as stable, solid or fun like in Burnout.
- Hit detection when hitting guard rails / track walls also feels totally off. Sometimes I'd hit a guardrail almost at a perpendicular angle at very high speeds, and my car just bumped and redirected in the tracks direction without losing much speed. In other occasions I'd hit walls in a much smoother angle at lower speeds, and triggered a crash.
>car models don't get crushed at crash, they only add some bump maps to make it look like the car is dent a bit
- Also in road rage mode, your car won't suffer any sort of visual damage after you suffer a takedown, unlike in Burnout. Now that's a minor nitpick for me, but still, it adds up.
>if you're in a looped track your takedowns don't disappear, they stay on the track.
- Actually I liked this tbh, probably only positive thing I'd have to say about the game
tl;dr: game is very unfinished and should have remained in development for at least 1 more year, or released in Early Access status through Steam. So much for Epic Store supposedly having better quality control than Steam, this is clearly an unfinished game.

Specifically on this point they said it was because they didn't want to bother doing soft body physics because they knew they weren't gonna get a satisfying result and it would end up costing them way too much anyway
