The maps in 99 are smaller, with 2k4 it feels like it takes forever to get across some maps and some of those hall ways in 2k4 are as wide as the beach in Vice City. Though I guess they were going for large flat zones in an attempt to even he odds or they just really wanted to tech demo Unreal Engine 2 with these xbox hueg maps. I also prefer 99's soundtrack, which was done by the same guy that did Deus Ex's soundtrack.
I do prefer 2k4's handling of the Flak canon though. Also that convoy map that came with the demo.

I played them plenty. I also played the fuck out of invasion too. You do have a point on Onslaught, it works better with more people. Host here, mapvoting is fucked up because it'll try to force players to download maps they don't have for some reason, which takes longass times because shitty transfer speeds, so unless you want to spend 20 minutes downloading a map you'll play on for 5 seconds, that's a no.

I don't know why exactly, but I really prefer the vehicle handling in UT3 over 2k4. To me, the vehicles in 2k4 feel like some kind of superweapon, unwieldy but overpowered. In UT3 they feel like a more natural extension of the normal weapon options.

I just want to thank you fags for this little bit. I grew up playing UT2K4 but never had human oponents so I had to settle for Bots all the time.
I got good enough to practice using Masterfull Bots and even could hold my own against Inhuman Bots, but it does get a bit too predictable and boring once you get used to them.
Some of you are pretty at the game but even the worst players here were more fun than the bots. Far more unpredictable and creative, which is par for the course.
I hope we do this again some day and that I can at least get a better connection the next time.

I remenber following updates on that and there were some interesting changes there, like sprinting that was used to get you into combat faster, not a toggle you could use at will or some of the crazier movement mechanics they had in mind that I never got to actually try for whatever reason. The simple fact they gave Dodge a dedicated key was alone a reason to try the game.
I just wish they focused even more on movement and made something closer to Hover\Jet Set Radio to combine with the weapons and really set it apart from other shooters.

One thing that always upset me was the menus for cosmetic items. They were incredibly half-assed for something that reeked of micro transactions. Even in UT3, where you could somewhat customize your character, it was already something so incredibly basic and uninspired.
