I think you're grossly underestimating the problem. A few examples.

- Two people I know play one particular bit of mobileshit religiously and have been doing it for at least a year.

- That same game is causing productivity loss in the workplace of someone else I know to the point it's being filtered there.

- A third example who generally plays real games also plays the Fire Emblem mobage.

- In general, there are lots of people willing to draw fanart for gachapon crap, and I don't believe most of them are tertiaries either.

- There's at least 2 running generals here for mobile games. In fairness they're less accepting of whales but still. I only begrudgingly tolerate their presence out of a general hate of double-standards.

Even putting microtransactions aside mobile culture already conceded enough ground to things like advertisements and data collection. Mobile for whatever reason just attracts the worst types of scum.

People made fun of the PS3 for being a nogaems console but it didn't stay that way, and the 3DS suffered early too until Nintendo made a concerted effort to getting things to happen. Plenty of companies have tried what Google is trying and they've failed. Google has also invested heavily into failed technologies with no clear idea of how to make them work. This is just another misguided idea from a company that wants more power and influence over the lives of the average citizen without any clear idea of how to take it, besides offering subpar, lackluster services and apps.
