Vampires are one of those characters that can easily justify different styles of gameplay. You can be a tank that soaks bullets and cuts and powers through on supernatural strength and accelerated healing factor, a skulking presence in the dark that slithers from shadow to shadow and preys upon human fears or a master of the arcane that boils the blood of mortals, breaks their bones with telekinesis or cuts them apart with blades made of blood.
It would be incredibly easy to make the game into a supernatural Deus Ex. Instead of augs you get mutations (some generic for all vampires and some unique to respective clans/bloodlines), then skills both mundane and arcane, and all taking place in a single city that acts as a hub.

These players are the Gaia Online type, they want a story about a totally unique Mary Sue that is infinitely flawed but also infinitely mysterious/cool/powerful. They care less about game mechanics or creating a character story that is interesting, they just want their character to be cool in their specific way all the time. I did not get too heavy into that scene but one of my long time gaming group members did and he tells me that WoD was his favorite setting and he preferred White Wolf's dice pool system, but the worst part about that game was the players. This is possibly the worst possible trailer for a VTMB-style game that they could possibly come up with. Well, I’m not hopeful. The first thing they did wrong was not use music from 2000’s era Buffy the vampire slayer and nightclub music at the time- there's no point of reference in the slightest- really. Sound direction in VTMB featured work from artists who composed my sanctuary for the angel opening, and the downtown theme directly sampled from the ending half of said theme for the song in general- as well as it's own OST. After seeing the steam page for this game I knew you fags would have something to say on the subject, and shit, I guess I was right not to get too excited there and then I did shriek out loud but VtM:B is one of my favorite games of all time so go figure. and what disappointed me a little as this doesn't seem like an actual continuation of the series, more like something unrelated wearing the skin of VtM:B and MASQUERADE-ing had to do it as a sequel. I'm glad they got Rik Shaffer back, but if they can't capture that Troika magic, we're fucked. This reeks of Deus ex HR type overtones, and whilst that wasn't a bad game by any means it changed a lot from the original formula because it was a different team dedicated to creating it.
I guess we'll see how it plays out, but like anything it's going to be a hard nut to root for when so many of the devs and representatives look like Tumblr university drop-outs and societal chattel. The fact that they seem to speak quite ill of the first game also implies they lack the vision of what made it such a fantastic game in the first place. I'm worried, anons.
