I wouldn't say it has the best art but it's probably the most classy packaging, like the thing was made in the game's universe itself.

Regarding Senran Kagura, I think I prefer the more action-ey covers, while the happy ones are a good extra. With the action covers, you can interpret at first glance that it's an action game with tits but still cute designs. With the more happy/fanservice ones, while it does get your attention obviously, some of them don't transmit just what kind of game they might be. Peach Beach Splash was a happy middle.

Something impressive with the US cover of REmake is how it's literally the in-game models and textures but the game looked so good that they could still use an in-game screenshot with just a higher rendering resolution for the cover.

I don't understand all the hate Golden Axe 2 gets. I hear people complain that the game is too much like the original. It is, but it takes everything the first one did and does it better. Same with the cover art. They got fantasy illustrator Boris Valjo to do the art for Golden Axe 2's cover.

Funny thing, Vallejo was contracted to make cover art for the cancelled North American cartridge release of Golden Axe III. While that got relegated to a Sega Channel release, Japan got a cart release of their own (which has an English translation in the ROM) and features cover art inspired by Vallejo's original illustration.

Fixed. Artwork by the like of Frazetta and Vallejo was considered about as relevant as a Ronnie James Dio album in the early 90s. It was a look that was in popular consciousness in the 80s and came into the 90s as backwash that was to relegated to toys and video games.
