I just recently discovered the Game Genie of PC games: Cheat Engine. I love it. It lets me eke out additional replay value by giving myself insane stats on a new game. Is anyone a pro with this? What games have you used it with?

I used it to give Vivian in The Vagrant 99,999 strength so that she could blow through the game in record time, but I found out you could wreck the game if you edit the wrong value. Most recently, I used it in Mana Spark to give myself 9999 gold so I could buy every item in the game on the first level

In FTL to speed the game because repairing your ship or healing crew after fights is really slow
In the fighting game Killer Instinct to multiply the items on the Shadow Lords mode (a sort of survival mode with items like health regeneration, reviving team members etc ), then use said items to achieve the 1st place on the score boards because fucking why not, the first place seemed to have cheated as well, it still took me like a whole month of fighting waves until i decided to end the mode and get that first place.
A year later Iron Galaxy cleaned the boards and most of the high scores were wiped.
In Yu Gi Oh Tag Force Special to get all cards because fuck grinding.
In Dark Souls games to get a fuckton of titanite because again fuck grinding, however i only did that after i beat the game at least once.
There were a couple more instances but i can't remember right now, i mostly use it when i want to avoid grinding stuff like rare drops or speeding parts of a game that are very slow for no good reason.

I never use the memory editor but I use the speedhack function to speed games up all the time, especially in FTL where the early fights are tedious as fuck. I can tolerate a certain amount of grinding but I cannot tolerate going SLOW
Unlike fastforward in emulators it doesn't fuck up the sound either so if you want you can lock that shit to 1.5x or 2.0x and play the whole game that way.

The game UB Funkeys was a flash game where you bought magnetic toys and plugged them into a USB connected device. Basically a proto-Skylanders sort of thing.
Using Cheat Engine, you can play the entire game using only the hub. I think someone might have patched the game to not use the hub but I don't know for sure. The most interesting part of using cheat engine though was being able to unlock a few Beta Characters that were never actually released as toys. It's cool that a community of fans basically figured out how to preserve so much of the game for the future.

You are right about it's value though.
Contrary to the "hardcore only, no-cheats" fags cheat engine is actually an extremely useful tool.
It's surprisingly often over looked by developers who think they can fix cheating by adding an Anti-Cheat and waving it like a magic chicken in front of their games.
I've used it multiple times to bypass shitty AAA micro-transactions.
For example before they nerfed the renown gain in Terrorist Hunt, you could use cheat engine to farm mad amounts of renown in R6 siege.
I haven't play Goy theft Auto 5 in years so it could probably get you banned, but you could use cheat engine to change the price of cars and manipulate the games run speed in multiplayer.
I'd say that this program single handedly made me immune to the skin box meme because if I wanted something locked behind bullshit grind I could usually just get it without the bullshit.
Please don't turn into one of those script kiddies who uses CE to try and cheat at competitive games. It's better as a single-player tool, or a tool to hack in MTX monopoly money.

How much of an faggot are you to never have tested this on your own before? Every time I get a new game I check how much of it is stored locally and how much is handled server-side. Some devs are total jews and have singleplayer games handle everything online, others do not. In those cases you can get yourself free chests and shit like that.

Don't let the stigma fool you, this can improve some experiences by a lot when used corretly.
Some very handy uses I've found myself using is:
>Recoverig money/items or really anything else you lost to a crash. bug or other type of bullshit.
>Skipping grinding in otherwise very grind heavy games.
>Bypassing some sort of unfun mechanic that limits you, like some games that have unecessary "stamina" points that stop you from progressing, even tough it's a single player game.
>Re-unlocking stuff in a game you lost your save file or just reinstalled.

Oh, sure. You can give yourself 700,000 tanks and just sell them whenever you need to max your cash. With a trainer you can even cheat "unlocking" of some online-only items before you're ready to research them. The best thing about Cheat Engine is speeding up the game. By that I mean not only speeding up things such as cutscenes, but also to completely skip grinding either materials or experience points. For example, if I want to have one of each item, I would need to farm money for a long time, but I can skip that completely.
Unless it's to make the game easier, I think using it is fine.

You get that in tons of games. When I first played Dark Souls I enjoyed bum rushing around to get equipment with zero consequences because no souls. Then I immediately found the zweihander and as soon as I had the stats for it, spent the whole game as an untouchable ninja with a giant sword. Then in NG+ I did the same with two zweihanders.

My favorite use for cheatengine was a script for Deus Ex: Human Revolution that would make your energy regenerate constantly. Normally it would only regenerate to one battery, but if it detected that you were at full batteries it would add a tiny bit more, thus causing the next battery to regen. As such you could actually have fun playing the game and using utilities instead of being limited by how many protein bars and protein shakes you could find.
Got a lot of replay value out of it that way, tons of fun. Did a GitS playthrough that was all rifle, SMG, and melee, full lethal, from cloak. Like pic related, but with more arm blades.

A: not as challenging as the older games
B: not switched up enough to warrant a second go around
C: a linear retread with no way to go off the beaten path
DSII had the good idea of mixing enemy and item placement and it confuses me to why Miyazaki didn't follow that design. Demon's Souls pushed you to visit each world in any way you wanted so you aren't forced to go 1-1, 1-2, 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, I think you get the idea. Each game had something going for it so you could take a different approach or be surprised by the design even if you searched every nook and cranny while DSIII offers nothing in the way of alternate routes or revamped encounters.

I absolutely hated Borderlands at first, because of peashooters of a guns, but maxing out weapon proficiency with CE made gunplay actually good and satisfying. I'm not a pro, since I never written any scripts for CE, but I often use it, to skip a blatant grinding or some genuine frustrating bullshit, you know "when game plays fairly, I play fair" sort of thing.

I'm not sure that address stays the same. Basically you start with "0" value in the begining of the game for every weapon type and when you kill somebody with a certain type of weapon, same amount of xp that you earn for a kill, goes to weapon proficiency of that weapon type. It's kinda stupid mechanic really, fells that you're not getting better at using weapons from it;s type, but instead removing it's nerfs.
