The characters are shit. There's a Gnomish John Oliver, a mystical Negro trope with nothing to lose and the worst animal companion choice, a female fallen Paladin with the lamest most "LOOK AT MY COOL DMNPC!" sidequests ever, and a bisexual CG neurotic arcane trickster with a CE half-orc magus boyfriend that is also a (literal) cuck. The characters I've "liked" are only my preference because they didn't go out of their way to be insanely weird or diverse, with the possible exception of the LG cleric who seems to understand LG is not just healing and charity.

This game is fun but your companions are shit. Luckily you can generate all your party members if you so choose… but unluckily you still have to do "loyalty" quests for your "real" companions because they become advisors to your fiefdom. Some of the companions are gimped unless you shoot for a specific build like the depressed dwarf cleric with Chaos and Destruction domains. Others, like the Gnome alchemist and Arcane Trickster, cannot be bad simply due to the nature of their class choices but are obnoxious to have in your party for dialogue reasons. I would highly recommend pirating this game to see if you like it. Also, this game was utterly unplayable at launch – seems like they've gone a long way towards fixing those bugs, but they aren't quite there yet.

Sadly yes and I was hoping the devs, being Russian, wouldn't go full pozz but the bits that ARE pozzed (Regongar/Octavia, some NPCs around Pitax) are still quite noticeable. Compared to PoE or really any other modern RPG it's still not that bad.

I played through the game twice, and remember them being in the nature of 20-30 seconds most of the time.

I just started up the game now after 3 or 4 months to check how they are. The initial first time load from the main menu took 1 minute 17 seconds. After that, changing zones, loading the kingdom map and reloading an autosave all took less than 10 seconds each. Loading a completely different save took 15. All of this is "late game" where the save files are already pretty bloated.

Using RAW stats in a video game with save/load features and full control over all 6 party members makes the game-journalist-mode easy. +4 AC is nothing at level 16 but it gets fucking retarded at lvl 2. They "balanced" the game the laziest way possible. You can easily tell now that they added the inspect feature to NPCs.

I was more focused on things like the "Greater Enraged Owlbear" that has base stats on par with a dragon in RAW. Not the piddly +2 that the game adds to everything if you adjust the difficulty slider. Every enemy in the game has custom stats, and if they didn't the game would be piss easy.

Meanwhile, if they actually balance those custom stats properly to match character progression (this is a big if and basically impossible) then adding +4 to all enemies across the game should actually scale all those enemies with about the same difficulty boost. If you hit on a 12, class, gear, and enemy progression is supposed to advance so that you hit on a 12 no matter if you are level 2 or 20. If you add +4AC to everything you now hit on a 16 no matter what your level is, so long as you keep the same amount of optimization. Again, this is basically an impossible task, but in theory this is what they should be going for.

Pathfinder setting is pozzed but not as badly as, say, Pillars. Mechanics are implemented well enough, no complaints there. Story and writing are alright, certainly better than Pillars. Devs have made an effort to improve the game, it has come a long way since release.

Its probably the best isometric CRPG so far when compared to shit like Pillars 1 and 2, Numanuma or Tranny.

There's also a lot of sperging about the difficulty because it manages to be both too hard and too easy depending on who is playing. A random journo faggot won't make it through the first encounter after the tutorial, when the gloves come off, but anyone with half a brain can abuse the mechanics of Pathfinder to such a degree that most anything becomes a cakewalk. The only real issue is the lack of resources early on. It turns into a fucking retarded slog at the end though, with endless hordes of juiced up archer faggots.

The nature of the module they use as a basis also makes it so you're always on a very tight time limit and you can't even go back to the Stolen Lands after the final boss so you have to be moderately smart about how you spend your time. Sitting around and just building your kingdom is the worst way to go about it, which kind of makes the whole thing pointless. You'd think you might at least get some decent buffs or items out of it like in, say, NWN2 but nope, you get jack shit.

I've played tornment half a dozen times already, I found little bits of lore every time and the story is one of the best I've ever seen.

Spoiler: The answer to "What can change the Nature of Man" is "Nothing". Nothing can change the Nature of Men because their nature IS to change. To change their nature, you'd have to make them stop changing. It's a paradox and the story shows the many philosophical implications of that from many points of view.

However, the combat was boring as shit since most of the spells you get aren't that usefull early on (a little 2d4+3 damage aren't gonna matter, especially when casting them is a right-click spam fest) and later encounters boil down to "hope you found all those overpowered one-shot items and didn't use them before, you're gonna need to spam them now!"

The gameplay shines whenever it interacts with the story. Upgrading Dak'kon's silver sword made sense in-lore and gave you a decisive edge in battle, as do the latter stone discs you explore with him.

Vhailor locked you out of some actions, but in return gave you a very strong fighter.

At best, you could roll over early game as a warrior, switch to rogue for some very specific points and then go to mage for end game "fuck everything" spells.

Not to mention how much WISDOM dominated over other stats, since 16 WIS could give you enough enough experience for a full 3 or 4 extra levels by endgame.

It was passable as a game. That's the best you could say about it. It was fantastic story however.

Not well. You won't be roleplaying as a dark tyrant but you can for example make the Church of Asmodeus your state church, or make favorable deals with Lamashtu cultists. The overall results aren't anything to write home about though.

The most evil thing you can do is probably free an ancient lich and make him your lich-bitch so he becomes and advisor at your court. It's implied that he will eventually regain his power and do evil stuff on his own.

It's post-epilogue content from the module itself. After you got your kingdom back and now what? They presented three scenarios iirc. First is the reincarnation of the said conqueror as a hugefuck super-saiyan red dragon, second is the entire fey world is pissed with your kingdom and seek 'reparations' because you have caused 'troubles' for them like little kikes they are, the last being the most mundane namely Brevoy telling you be our ass slave or war, Restov will be your ally should you told those assholes to go fuck themselves like they do their relatives.

No, enemy saves are huge unless you set the game to easy, it's pathfinder so the "fuck you just die" spells are gone and you're with left the "fuck you I've turned you into a cripple so my friends can kill you more easily" spells that the monsters will resist every time. It's not a Bioware crpg so those lovely magic nuke spells they invented like Missile Storm or the "oops we forgot to set a damage cap on this one " Flame Arrow aren't around. Direct damage spells are useless unless you go into the magic sneak attack sub class that forces you to waste a useless level or two as a rogue. You have to waste two feats just to remove the automatic -4 range penalty. There's no scroll scribe or magic item crafting. And the UI for meta magic is pure torture. And the AI is generally the focus fire the MC kind.

You can easily get your spell DCs high enough that the enemies don't always succeed. You just have to fully specialize the character doing it with gear/feats/stats etc dedicated to increasing the save. If you didn't start the game with 20 int/wis/cha (depending on class) just forget about using anything with a saving throw with that character. Once you do get your save DCs to maximum levels, spells like Grease, Stinking Cloud, and Sirocco are insanely useful, with occasional use given to single target effects like Chains of Light or Enervate

You are right about blast spells. Enemies have too much health for your standard "1d6 per level per action" spell to even be worth casting. I think that's more of a problem with 3.5/PF as a system then the game. Might even be by design, Casters buff and debuff to enable Martials to kill, that you can't have one without the other makes it balanced.
