But I will admit that Jojo would work best as an RPG, since most of the battles after part three are not slugfests, but more like puzzle battles where the opponents constantly attempt to outthink each other. Like the Ringo Roadagain fight from Part seven, how could you adapt that for an action game or a fighting game? It's essentially two men racing to adjust their strategy to out maneuver one another while one man resets time to compensate for lapses in his tactics. Sure at the end of the day its a man with a gun fighting a man who throws steel balls, but reducing it to that ignores what people love about the fight. Or what I like to call the Gambler fights, The D'Arby's in Part Three, Rock-Paper-Scissors Kid in Part Four, Marilyn Manson in Part Six, how do you adapt these to a fighting game except as minigames?

I am attempting to do just that but the AI is the biggest limiting factor, the combat is like Pokemon but instead of the type/supereffective system the person who wins in combat is the one who is best able to predict their opponent's next move, doing damage to someone can take multiple turns and if your enemy figures out what you're doing they can foil your plan. Let me give an example:
>John knows that Steve has a fire spell (sizzle), a wind spell (whoosh), and doesn't know that Steve has a shock spell (zap)
>Steve knows that John has a ice spell (fizzle) and a water spell (splash)
>round 1
>Steve uses sizzle, John becomes warm. If Steve uses sizzle again John will start burning.
>John uses splash, John and Steve become wet. If you are wet and cold you become frozen.
>round 2
>Steve uses whoosh on himself and becomes dry
>John uses fizzle on Steve who becomes cold.
>round 3
>Steve uses zap on John which requires the user to not be wet and for the target to be wet, and John becomes electrocuted, warm, and will be hidden by a steam cloud next turn.
Steve baited John into thinking that he was going to try and ignite him so John used splash to prevent himself from burning and freeze Steve, but he didn't know that Steve's real goal was to zap him. This sounds cool on paper but in practice I don't really have a way of getting the AI to think at this high of a level, and even if I did there's still the issue of needing to convey some of this through mid-fight dialogue which would need to be fairly procedural to account for the massive number of possibilities. If anyone has any interesting ideas let me know.

Heaven DIO comes from a Valentine universe where he defeated the Joestars, realized the full power of THE WORLD which lets him override anything that is currently happening and mindfuck people into submission, Valentine finds him (no explanation how he can also time travel but w/e) and he's made into his bitch boy, realizing that the security of America is at stake he goes full on keikaku and basically aids the Joestar group (and Akira) in defeating Heaven DIO's group. How about you set the game to learn from the player instead of coming up with your own AI? Simply, instead of making enemies tankier and tankier to defeat, you give them more options while at the same time logging the player's behavior and quite literally teaching your game how it should respond - which in theory works really well as a difficulty progression, as the game starts really easy with a braindead, random AI and keeps on adapting on the player's level of expertise, while at the same time it reflects the natural shonen and even moreso Jojo progression (as more enemies come to fight you, they learn of your strategies and relay the information to their superiors or comrades etc.).
I'm really fucking interested, gimme some more details on your game.

If you wanted to actually recreate the feeling of being a Jojo, I guess you'd need some kind of in-depth sandbox environment where your specific stand abilities can interact with any object. In order for Crazy Diamond to work right, all objects in the game world need to be breakable to begin with, for example. If you want Gold Experience, then every single object needs a living version it can transform into. It would probably be nightmare to get more than a handful of different stand abilities working in a setup like this.

Don't really see how 4-6 work as an independent trilogy. I guess you could call them the aftermath of Dio trilogy, or something. There's more of a distinct separation between the hamon parts and the stand parts though.

What if someone had a stand that wasn't really a battle stand and they didn't even know it existed as it was always active and present being partially created from the soul of the character's deceased father and carrying on that protective nature.
The effect would be that ANY fatal wound does occur and he does technically die in that dimension, but his stand allows his consciousness to transcend the multiverse and simply swap with a version of himself where the action causing his death either fucked up (instead of a glass shard falling through his head, he swaps with a version of himself where the shard fell right beside his ear for example.) This would also happen with any battle. The stand would activate upon fatal blow and transfer him into a reality where the guy attacking him missed and fucked it up meaning that even if he couldn't fight back, he could still never die from causes other than old age. The drawback is that this character is forced to grow old and can not kill himself because any suicide attempt with transfer him to a reality where even a bullet would not pass through his head at point blank range, and the gun would misfire or fall to pieces in his hand.
Just something I was thinking about on a long drive.

No because Valentine has to bring another version of himself to the present dimension. This character doesn't interact with his other selves, because they take the place of him and die in his body each time something horrible happens to him. He still dies in that reality and everyone around him there experiences it but he himself transfers into another version of himself where the unfortunate event doesn't happen the way it happened in universe a. b. or c.

I've changed it up a bit because having his other selves actually take his place and die defeats the purpose of his father using his own stand to kill himself and turn part of himself into his son's stand. So here's the deal. He would "merge" with his other selves upon each death but their consciousness would not die. It wouldn't really even matter because they are basically identical universes so merging with his closest other selves would be just like a series of "oh shit, I almost died" moments as he encounters and battles other stand users only because stand users are drawn to other stand users.

Dio is still part of the curse, and when he came back to life he made Jotaro's mom sick and linked the Joestar family to him. Plus by killing Dio they can finally put Jonathan's 100 year old body to rest, thus ending the curse.
I guess part 4-6 could also be called The Legacy of Dio, with 4 Morioth's problems stern from the stand arrows, that they got from Dio, part 5 is about his son, and part 6 is about his gay priest and the rest of the family.

Jotaro's mum got sick (along with Jouske) when Dio was pierced by the stand arrow and acquired The World, this caused all the direct alive descendants of Jonathan (Joseph, Jotaro's mum, Jotaro, and Jouske) to also acquire stands.
