Once I made reatarded purchases due to being ignorant and and regretting them after falling for false promises I searched up what made the games shit, realized these companies were garbage and boycotted them all.

2011 was when I realized games had went to shit hard and that I had to inform myself or stupidly waste my disposable income on non entertaining products with poor design decisions.

I don't think I've ever dedicated myself to a "boycott", but I've refused to buy/pirate products simply on principal because of some egregious fuckup on the part of the devs/publishers. Even then, if I was ever even slightly interested - I'll still buy or play the game later - usually years down the line when it's bargain bin fodder. Metro: Exodus is one of the games I'm currently turned off of because of the bullshit practice of launcher exclusives. I mean - wider picture - I don't really buy or fuck around with anything that you need some dedicated launcher. I'll use Steam as a front-end because it's got some basic quality of life features and you can add whatever you want to it, and I'll buy from GOG, but other than that - fuck Epic, fuck Bethesda, fuck Ubisoft, fuck Activision, fuck EA, and fuck everybody else who wants to clog up my system resources and task-bar with basic-bitch ransomware because they want a slightly bigger slice of the pie. I'll never actually purchase I goddamned thing from them. Thankfully, none of those companies actually make anything that I really feel is worth playing anyhow. As for Metro, I'm also not going to buy it on consoles - but that's only partly on principle, and partly because I simply cannot handle FPS games on consoles anymore. I need a Keyboard and Mouse, full stop.

The last time I "cheated" on a boycott, personal or otherwise, was Mass Effect 3 on the 360 - and I really had no interest in continuing the series, but some friends kept bugging me to get it for the multiplayer. So I finally caved - a year and some change after launch, and I got it for like $10 used so that EA/Bioware wouldn't get even that meager pocket change. Haven't touched a modern Bioware game since.
