So a family member just came into a little bit of money and is looking to get into PC gaming with a prebuilt. They know nothing about PCs and have a budget of a $1000. I haven’t built a PC in years so any advice on what they should get would be greatly. appreciated.

Slap together a cheap piece of shit for her and pocket the rest. She probably won't be able to tell.

This. If you want to be elaborate, show them some shitty pre-built that costs $1000, build the same rig for less than half the price and pocket the rest

Come up with an excuse not to do it because once you do something for family they will be calling you every time they break it and will blame you for it.

Oh I’m not gonna build shit for them. They just want some advice from me but like I said I haven’t built a pc in years. I’m not sure what cpus, GPUs, or memory even are out now.

OK… Medium use. 1050ti with 4-8gb ram and some i3 or i5 cpu. that should be ok

SSDs have gotten a lot cheaper over the years. For a 1k budget at least get a hybrid drive or something.

Scroll down and get the "Great" computer.
You'll be able to run any current gen game such as GTAV with ease that way and will have infinitely better parts than any prebuilt computer by default.

That's true. They're obviously still more expensive than HDD. But now they're actually worth buying. The difference in performance is crazy.

After getting the parts look up a jewtube video about how to build a PC.
Then you are set.
Make sure to plug the HDMI cable in the CPU port when first starting up your computer, I personally was putting the cable in the wrong port and I was just about to have a fucking panic attack because of that.

Oh yeah and OP, is a Monitor, Keyboard, Headset and a Mouse within your shopping cart too? Or do you already have those? You should adjust the parts your getting if you plan on buying those too. A cheap keyboard, headset and mouse would be fine, but a decent Monitor would cost around $90-$100 bucks.
I payed around $950 for my current pc, monitor included.

You meant the GPU HDMI port instead of a motherboard integrated HDMI port? I could see someone making that mistake and thinking their monitor was broken, if they didn't understand what any of the hardware did.

Tell them to fucking google how to build their own PC. It's not difficult. There's a million and one websites that do this. Make sure to tell them that getting a "prebuilt" that costs a grand will be like getting a $600 PC they build themselves and will have a cheap Chinese knockoff PSU that will probably either fry the motherboard or explode in a few years.

Pre-builts are a really bad idea but there are sites that let you pick from a list of parts and put them together for you. Use one of those.

If you're not retarded, don't ever buy a prebuilt. They don't last.
You can use a third of that money to buy an equivalent in pieces.
They have shitty plastic cases that gather dust and limit ventilation. They charge you three times for underpowered parts. They come with pre-installed bloat making it even slower and bothersome to use.
You might find it a hassle, but you'll save money and stress in the long run.

If you want to future-proof your PC, the case should be the size of small house. You never know.
