A few years ago I made a comfy videogame music collection using songs posted in these threads. I think it's a good time to make a new one. I'm uploading the old list I made with /v/ years back at the moment but it's over 1000 songs and 5+ GBs so it's taking a while to upload (though it needs some cleaning/quality control).
Anything vidya and comfy is fine. Even upbeat music, jazz, and easy listening tunes that relax you. This includes arranged music and fan arrangements/doujin music. If you can, then include a download link to the song or an Invidious link. If you can't do any of those then include the whole song's name and the game it came from in the file name. That way I can try to find it and add it to the list.
Starting off with Dragon Quest and a arranged version of an already comfy FFIX tune.

>Water dungeon filled with giant snapping turtles that are slow as shit.
>Can easily get around them. Why they're even there is beyond me.
>Block off a steam exhaust hole with a rock to proceed. This causes the dungeon to freeze over in this frigid mountain.
>Giant snapping turtles are now sliding across the ice at break neck speeds to eat you.
For such an absurd stratum, it had very comfy BGM.

As far as I know, the oldest ones available in official English, the Iris trilogy, are pretty different compared to the main style of the series, and probably why they were the first brought over. The PS2 remakes of Marie and Elie, the first two PS1 games, have been fan translated though, but I'm not entirely sure if they're considered a good starting point or not either. That said, I can't speak from experience on them yet, so maybe someone else can guide you. In the past most western fans would probably advocate for Rorona Plus or Ayesha Plus as the start of their trilogies and playing how the series is meant to be focused (rather than more standard JRPGs or alchemy school; I do hear the Mana Khemia battle system is fun), but neither are particularly old.
065d0f No.16139762
>>16139587
You basically start with the first in a sub-series. People usually recommend starting with Arland (Rorona > Totori > Meruru) because it's closer to what the series is today, both in gameplay and aesthetics, then keep going in release order, which is Dusk (Ayesha > Escha&Logy > Shallie) and Mysterious last (Sophie > Firis > Lydie&Suelle).
You can start with the PS2 games too, they're easy to emulate. Mana Khemia was my introduction to the series and has arguably the best combat in it, but none of the time management and cute girls doing forbidden things that define the modern games. Haven't played Iris trilogy yet, supposedly they play more like traditional JRPGs.

The game was enjoyable. It felt like they had wanted to do so much more than what they released.
For example you're stuck with the same 3 characters the entire game with no extra party members, but it was pretty obvious that they had originally wanted the other girls you meet throughout the story to awaken as magical girls and join the story. But, I'm betting due to time constraints or budget they couldn't get to that point

I do not have a Mega or anything if that’s what you’re looking for, though maybe I ought to consider making one, given how much I like both the music and the series itself. Actually, what's the upper limit on a free mega? 5GB? In the meantime, I might mention khinsider has every official OST and arrange album I'm aware that the series has, and is where I got the music myself. But while it's very workable for individual song downloads, you can't download entire albums in one go without an account.

I might look into it. Series has a lot of music, but I think it should fit easily within that limit. I suppose the bigger concern is whether or not it being slapped with a possible DMCA would just get the account/folder terminated or get on the ISP's case over copyright (not sure if Sony's as aggressively protective of their music as, say, Victor Entertainment; khinsider seems to have had zero issues hosting WA music though).

It's too short, and it straddles the line between 'lol we're SJW's!' and actually feeling like they treated the characters respectfully as far as Mid-West Americans can be. Nick Rye is my favorite character because he's as American as you can get.
>Can you join Joseph Seed?

It's easily the high point. It's about five albums worth of music, and it's a pity they didn't bring the guy back to do the sequel. The music definitely goes a long way to identify with all the characters.

Mechanically speaking is the best Far Cry game but it lacks a proper challenge curve, because of it the game feels like going through the motions and at times very shallow. Such thing wasn't a problem in 2, 3 and Primal as character growth was more or less tied general progression, FC4 was hit or miss in this regard (I don't count BD since it was an 80's power trip), there simply isn't a general sense that the odds are stacked against you or that you need to improve or be careful, the only time this sorta happens is when the game takes control away from you and puts you on a scripted sequence. On the visual department I still prefer 4 but your mileage my vary. The plot and characters are a bit of a mess and it feels inconsistent with Joseph Seed being a joke of a villain and Jacob feeling like it belongs in a different game. To me this game would've been much better if John Seed was the main antagonist and Faith being the second in command, John truly sells the image of a charismatic televangelist cult leader and Faith compliments it with her "innocent" way of sweet-talking people. One thing that bothered me was an interaction with Joseph where he's trying to reason with you about his doomsday cult and he says something along the lines of "We're at the verge of Armageddon, have you watched the news? did you see who's in office?" this moment came in such ham handed manner and was so obviously referencing Trump that it took me out of the game completely, I kek'd because this was about the same time Trump was in a summit doing peace talks with Kim Jong-Un. Also the nuclear ending is bullshit for so many reasons and all of the DLC sucks balls, with the Vietnam one being the least shit but it's padded.
Ok praise now, 90% of the supporting cast is decent, this is the first time I've ever cared for people other than the villain in a FarCry game (except for FC4's Amita, I wanted to murderfuck the feminism out of her), with Nick Rye being a highlight. It has the best music in the series. They stopped using a minimap and now opted for a compass this maintains the immersion and makes the game really comfy at times but they didn't go the extra mile by making the map a physical object like it was in FC2. The game feels really good to play, I don't know how to explain it but if you've played other FarCry games and then play this one there's certain fluidity associated with movement, driving and shooting, it feels really intuitive.

Combat is party oriented real time action. Players (yes, plural; most of the console entries aside from Phantasia SFC and Legendia offer four player local co-op) control the character in the slot of the active party associated with their controller, while AI control the rest. Tales AI is usually acceptable, especially as the strategy settings allow for better programming, but some characters have worse AI than others, and a few games have the AI so integrated to the particular combat that playing with four players is actually detrimental compared to just one or two.
Combat has traditionally used variants of the LMBS (Linear Motion Battle System) at its roots. In the entries that use a 2D field, this manifests simply as sidescrolling combat, wherein all party members and enemies share the same line. In the games using a 3D field, each party member and enemy establish their own lines with their targets, though like the 2D games you move left or right toward the enemy to approach, and away to retreat. The line of approach in the 3D games can be adjusted via changing targets (the only way to do so in Symphonia, the first 3D entry), or via the Free Run feature (Abyss onwards) which sacrifices speed compared to standard linear to adjust exactly where the character is. Zestiria and Berseria however go for a non LMBS route, with full movement. Beyond that, the player has access to a dedicated standard attack button, a defensive button (hold to block, hold and move toward enemy to quick step, hold and move away/down to backstep; a few games allow sidestepping around the foe), an artes button (essentially special abilities), a menu button for item usage, adjusting AI, changing equipment, and remapping and issuing direct arte usage. Combat generally relies on knowing how to maximize combos with both the same character and your allies and staggering the enemy, as well as arte flow and hitting potential weaknesses. Some people do decry combat as being button mash (or artes spam) to win, but overall is a rather fun battle system throughout in the opinion of fans (myself included).
Each game usually has at least one unique aspect to it that none of the other games (at least non numbered sequel ones) will have, but in the background do build upon particular bases. Phantasia SFC and Destiny PS1 utilize a very similar engine, and both can feel rather slow due to spells, summons, and particular physical artes outright interrupting combat. Phantasia PS1 improved the fluidity somewhat for most physical artes, but the spell (non-novice ones, anyhow) and summon interrupt remains. Eternia ("Tales of Destiny II" in NA) proceeded to make the bulk of artes and spells entirely fluid, whilst relegating summons and other high end artes to "Hi-Ougi" status (generally known to westerners as Mystic Artes), where they do still interrupt for the sake of emphasis, but aren't able to be used frequently enough for said interrupt to be annoying. Eternia set the roots in terms of fluidity for much of the series going forward as the first truly fast paced Tales, with Symphonia adapting the improved fluidity into a 3D field, which Abyss added Free Run to to make combat truly 3D, and introduced the Skill system (passive boosts and additional utility), both of which have become mainline features.
As such, Tales is a series where on the combat alone, starting with a more recent, further refined entries can make going back to the older ones a difficult task for some, but at the same time if one of the older ones feels archaic, consider one a bit further along.
Sage since this is more series related autism than focused on vidya music. Have a comfy song from Eternia though.

>True love is something created out of the idealist society that Romans wanted, and their idealogical sons made.
More like a projection of what the sex wants most from love. In romances target toward men, the woman doesn't change while the man sacrifices himself for her and protects her. In romance targeted toward men, they earn the woman's trust and companionship through hard work, self reflection, and self improvement. The woman usually just comforts the man through his struggles and gets him back on track when he falls off. Men and women love each other in different ways. Which is why being cheated on matters way more to a man than a woman.
>You don't see niggers having negative birth-rates.
All birthrates world wide have been going down. However, you will see them dramatically drop when women get more rights. Liberating and empowering women is the key ingredient to lowering birthrates and creating a welfare state. Because they know children will hold them back from advancing their careers and they can just rely on the government for resources. However, once they want to settle down. They're past their prime when it comes to beauty and men simply go for the younger women. If you want whites to get a positive birthrate and make marriage vows matter again. Then take your women's rights away.

I decided to make this into a full bash script. (I thought was a bit long to post here. I hate long long one-liners.) Just paste this into a file, make it executable, and optionally place it into a bin folder.
It takes a song and optional image for embedding. The title is taken directly from the song itself. The bitrate is set by a variable which I lowered to 128 as default to get a smaller file size. (Opus compresses better than mp3, so it still sounds fine.)

New Leaf was nice for the sheer amount of content and improved QoL features (saving at anytime, reducing weeds, etc), but it will never beat the N64/GC versions for atmosphere. I easily invested way more time in GC than NL until the memory card corrupted.

A big issue I've always had with the GC animal crossing is if you leave your town for a few months and come back you're basically aesthetically fucked. Your town is covered with weeds and unless you get Wisp who is not easy to find to help you the only other option is hand picking them. I understand the motivation is to remind the player to keep actively playing the game but damn. Fantastic game otherwise
0667a9 No.16542452

I once found the Wisp and caught 4/5 of the spirits within 10 minutes. After 3-4 hours of searching for the 5th I gave up and finally went to bed. (I didn't know it existed at the time considering I rarely played the game that late, so it was a nice surprise at least.)
I also thought it was interesting that the game was so small (due to being an N64 port) that it's the only GC game that can be removed from the console while playing. It just has to be re-inserted when saving the game or doing any kind of transfer. (quitting, visiting towns, visiting island, etc.) When my family got a Wii, my brothers and I used to play at the same time using the 1 disc I can't think of any other console game, aside from demos, where you can remove the game and play like that.
