Dragon Quest I-IV are the best ports you can get, designed for phones, and old school rpgs, so perfect for "popcorn" play. Also somehow not terrible ports like most of what Square does

Kairosoft games are pretty good, as are basic solitaire card games.

Got a few that I play when I'm on the go or waiting, though the availability of the games will depend if you're on android or not.

A game where you have a random team of 3 heros and go on quests. Gameplay is you moving the 3 heros on the 9 tiles and avoiding the enemy attacks.

/v/ love to talk about their amazing taste but the ones that play mobile games talk about gatchashit rather than standard games that feel like a PC online game. Here are some good non p2w games of different genres

CCGs. Eternal (the one i play and very similar to MTG) Shadowverse and TES Legends are also good games worth trying. Avoid Hearthstone as it is too p2w for new players

MOBA/ASSFAGGOTS. Vainglory and Onmyoji Arena are both amazing games that are as good as the PC games (argueable better than LoL because how shit Riot is) Mobile legends is a p2w shitfest where it take ages to get a single hero and Arena of Valor is ok but have less depth while also having pay only heroes that you can only get with real money

Battle Royale. PUBG Mobile is great if you like BR games, i dont but for what i played this is a really good game if you do like it. Cosmetic only cash shop and wellmade so it is easy to recommend. Knives Out and Rules of Survival is a PUBG clone before PUBG mobile came out but they have some differences as well, they are not as good as PUBG mobile but they are still good games as well

MMORPGs. OSRS is great but it is a love it or hate it kind of game. AQ3D is also worth playing and if you want something similar to WoW with 40 man raids that feel like WoW and can deal with some p2w stuff (it is not as bad as other mobile MMORPGs) Crusaders of Light is worth trying

Finally if you like Day by Deadlight and want the official mobile version of it (or just want a 1v4 game/2v8 game with a fair cash shop that dont gimps you if you dont spend money) Identity V is a great game that unlike DbD is not peer2peer based

Sadly /v/ only talks about gatcha shit when there are several fun online games for mobile that are not pay2win and have real gameplay. I think it is sad as i enjoy a lot of those mobile games i listed but people perfer talking about gatcha shit.

I forgot Art of War red tides. It is Desert Strike for mobile. Wellmade graphics and gameplay but it is grindy to get max level runes as f2p. But unlocking units takes little time and it is a good game otherwise. Was on PC first but the devs are retarded and did not make it crossplatform. sad because the game itself is really good.

There are several actually good games, but I'm not going to list them because anybody playing on a phone is a retard.

My mom pushed the smartphone meme on me and it was nothing but pain. Crack it, blacklist ad servers, delete default apps, then realise you've been wasting time and need to install a custom android OS; piracy is more bothersome, google pozz is everywhere… and so on.

I feel you, my parents also forced me to get a phone so they could send me shitty pictures on whatever instant message program they're using at the time, so i grabbed the cheapest one i could find moto g, rooted and flashed a custom rom that shit ASAP, occasionally reading manga with tachiyomi is the only use it sees.

They also recently replaced their 2009/2010 bravia flatscreen and massive wega CRT with two curved samsung smart tvs that don't even have component, vga or optical inputs, i'm still fucking mad they just threw away all that shit instead of dumping it on me, i could have made good use of both, especially that CRT, i'm tired of playing PS2, xbox and wii games on a LED tv like a cuck, even with component cables and upscalers it looks blurry and washed out as fuck, and i'm not paying $100+ for a tiny pvm piece of shit.

If you really want a portable emulation device, get one of the community made android devices with buttons or a peesspee. If you are going for the latter, I would reccomend a psp GO. Not like anyone buys psp games anymore

Thanks to the touchscreens, cellphones are unable to multitask, because changing windows is simply too clunky to be usable in the real world.

And every time you try to do anything they have to pull up a fake keyboard which takes up space in the screen because of course the keyboard is the only input device that actually works.

The touchscreen made it a necessity to have expensive highly refined glass on the screen because the user will be constantly poking it, yet the the screen still gets all cloudy with skin oil, and it's still easily scratched. At the same time, the average touchscreen today works by having small electric charges running through a grid over the screen which requires complex circuitry, is a dust magnet and burns through batteries.

Touchscreens make whatever device they're attached to objectively inferior in every single way possible. Be it price, quality, performance, usability, it all goes downhill once you chuck in a touchscreen.

The average phone touchscreen is so tiny you can't even get more than 1 finger on it without giving yourself carpal tunnel with the claw grip, which even then limits you to 2 fingers, until you have your entire hand hovering over the screen which blinds you from it, and wrecks your wrist even more from having to imitate those shitty games where you have to pick up teddy bears with a mechanical claw, except with no chances of winning at the end of it.

Touchscreens limit your input to as fast as you can move that singular finger which you have to constantly move away and into screen as you give it your input because it's constantly registering touches. It's too complicated and becomes a barrier between you and the device.

How the fuck can you say something which so specifically handicaps a human was meant to be used by a human? It's like trying to sew while wearing oven gloves.

Basically what you're arguing it that it isn't as good of an input method as physical buttons and so it's not as good for advanced users therefore it isn't meant to be used by humans.

Touchscreens are good for basic users because they can handle a lot of different functionality with little training. Obviously physical buttons will outperform them in every single case but they're meant for the most basic user. And for someone who isn't familiar with it, it's easier. That is being designed for humans. You want to activate something? Just point to it and smash your finger against the screen and magically it works. That's completely designed to be used by humans.

Hades's Star is neat imo. It has it's the option to speed up everything with real money but unless you want to fork over a hundred bucks for a single action then you won't use that. No on one does.

Android phones, at least, have a lot more emulators available to them. The ports and native games to android aren't there yet, in terms of console experiences, at least. It really depends on you, but I don't have a desire to buy a OnePlus 69 to play dolphin games portable, so I just stick to a vita.

It really comes down to what you're looking for, and unless you get a powerful enough phone, you're better off with a buttonened handheld that has its own library of exclusives.
