This would actually result in a crash, unlike some shit PC port or denuvo or a bad game being published.

This, vidya would end up like the auto industry, except no one is going to bail them out. I'm okay with this.

Good, now maybe these shitheaps will collapse all the faster and the Japanese game market will revitalize.

>crashing western (((gamedevs))) with no survivors

db9c44  No.16127761

Unions just want to work lesser hours and to produce lower quality products. For the same pay as before. AAA games like Red Dead Redemption 2's completion demanded 70-hour work weeks to at least be marginally playable. Imagine how much buggier it would've been without chinese sweatshop hours.

>Red Dead Redemption 2's completion demanded 70-hour work weeks to at least be marginally playable

Imagine pouring that much work into a game as boring as RDR2. I borrowed that shitshow and I have no idea why anyone praised it. Also notice after the "honeymoon" was over you don't hear a single thing about it anymore.

If the basic labor laws aren't already keeping these dumb faggots from working 100+ hour weeks with no paid overtime and outright abusive work conditions, a union isn't going to fix their problem. It will just add another layer of corruption to the shitheap. And the AFLC-CIO, in all their glorious commie faggotry, are only proving how fucking ignorant they are, because the games industry is made up of dozens of different disciplines with zero standardization or base level competence.

Vidya "industry insiders" are homosexual and I hope they loose their jobs as this creeps into the corperate structure.

873087  No.16127785

They really just never learn, do they? Remember when a bunch of voice actors tried to "boycott" the industry because they felt that they weren't getting enough royalties for reading words into a microphone, and nobody relevant gave a fuck?

>implying unions have a purpose anymore other than gatekeeping and guaranteed pay for well-connected retards

This is your brain on indieshit. Can't wait to see the articles about someone getting kicked from Indiecade and sued for not being union in a closed-shop state. And Activision-Blizzard employees are legally barred from working for 8 weeks out of the year.

Unlikely. The problem with Japan is that no one is interested in the technology anymore, and they just license Western middleware that they have no experience with, which is not made with non-Western thinking in mind. No body over there seems to want to make their own equivalent to the Unreal Engine (and then follow through with it by licensing it out instead of wasting it on one game and then shelving it).

I believe that this all goes back to how long it took for Japan to move over to using regular PCs rather than their homegrown solutions. They've been playing catch-up ever since, which is what post-2000 Japanese games have been noticeably behind the curve more often than not.

7ea195  No.16127908

>>16127890

Japanese devs are starting to use their own engineers. Capcom has the RE engine and Koei has the garbage that bloats all their games to 100GB.

1d0852  No.16127918

>>16127908

True, but no one wants to license them out. It's like the Fox Engine, that would be fine, but it was used for all of three games.

Crystal Engine? Used for one game I think (maybe Kingdom Hearts III as well?)

They need something that gets licensed out and used by a lot of people, so that it can properly grow. Just keeping it walled up at one company won't work.
