Its been a year or two since i played Layers of Fear, but I remember the game forced you to face your fears, it gave you a real sense of dread, the environmental horror was great, things were constantly changing, and the ghost bitch was terrifying.

Yeah, its a good horror game. Granted, I'm a walking vagina when it comes to horror games. It has fantastic atmosphere though, and never deliberately throws a jumpscare at you.

Top down perspective makes it a bit hard to be scary. Still a great survival horror game though. Great atmosphere and interesting locations to explore. The story felt a bit too vague and 2deep4u but I kind've just ignored it and enjoyed the overall vibe.

Babby's first scripted corridor walking sim. There is literally zero player agency in that "game", you just walk through a prebaked path of generic spooks and have no choice in anything.
Get some taste faget, at least Amnesia had some basic gameplay and exploration, hell, even SOMA is more interactive than that crap.

Dead Space
The very best HUD I've ever seen in a game, fantastic dead wasteland of fuckin spaceship mining planets, monolithic pulsing obsidianish obelisk transforming people into insane meatabominations.
It also pushed the Resident Evil 4 approach to survival horror gameplay while retaining the horror part; you could move while shooting, slower than normally, but could.
Great game, will play again.

It's a decent survival horror game with some level of uncertainty that adds to the scary parts. In that regard the following games go to gore horror and then to gore action
