The overall fps gameplay. All of the weapons feel really solid. Weapon sounds are the best I've ever heard in a multiplayer game with the exception of Red Oechestra. Character movement is fluid, quick. Inventory system and the UI is good, doesn't feel cluttered or bogged down. They managed to nail down the gameplay of the game which is the most important. It really is a fun game, memes aside. I wont spend a penny on it for obvious reasons. They will probably kike it to hell though with the release of a season pass. DLC nigger tranny heroes will most likely be broken as fuck on release just like they are in rainbow six siege. Apex Legends is the best BR out now but that is not saying much. It all feels like stuff that should have been there from the start when the trend began, given that it stemmed from FPS genre. It does eliminate some of the BS BR stuff with being squad based but it still falls prey to getting ganked early game if you don't find the right equipment. Also, if you don't have friends to squad with, you'll have to deal with randos questionable skill level which is unlikely to win consistently. Still has high numbers even after a week but the longevity of it will be determined by what is added within the coming months.
Probably won't appeal to people who don't want to be in squads so they'll add standard solo BR later if there is demand. A lot of BRs current and future will look to copy from this game. Can't really say that is a bad thing, but I still thing BR is better off as a mode in an FPS game instead of a singular genre.

You can go very fast by sliding. The abilities are also super situational, but the gun nut negress has this busted ability where if someone shoots at her she gets a double speed boost, and the mutt girl can call in supply drops. The guns arent hitscan thank god but they have a really strong arch to them so at longer ranges you need to lead and compensate for bullet drop. The most effective way to kill people is by punching though. It does more damage than most guns and you run extremely fast since your weapons are holstered.

There's a technique you can use with the robot guy by using his grapple on a nearby object and strafing in the opposite direction while reeling it in (or at least that's how it's been described), and it basically makes him fly like fucking Spiderman. The players that have mastered it can cover obscene amounts of ground really fast and have incredible movement advantage over other players when engaging at medium range. I'm sure this will get fixed/nerfed in the very next update because it's hilariously OP, balanced only a bit by the fact that the robot really has no good abilities beyond that.
Also, arcstars are also absurdly OP. 'Splodes in general are completely useless in most games, mere annoyances in others; but in this they're amazingly powerful. You already have a huge advantage because when you throw a grenade it shows an arc so you can pinpoint where it lands, but the arcstar STICKS, so you can plop it right in the middle of a squad (or stick it on someone). Then it does both damage to shield and to HP, as well as causing a "stun" effect.
Honestly, melee attacks don't seem all that useful. If you get close enough to punch someone, you're close enough to shotgun them in the face, so why would you choose to punch unless you're out of ammo?

From what I played so far even if they left wallrunning in there would be no way of using it properly. Most of the map is open space with a couple of bases and shantys but in close proximity there very little verticality even tho the height in parts of the map varies greatly over "large" distances.

They took all the existing mechanics from a far superior game and stripped it down to bare bones, there's all the polished shit left behind from Titanfall 2. No need to make weapons, animations, or mechanics for the combat, it's all good and tested. If you took Quake 3, took out the railgun and the rocket launcher and only let you play one game mode on one map, the actual core that made it function would still be there. It'd suck compared to what it was before, but that would still elevate it over most of it's peers. It isn't much, but it's better than the half-baked shit that's competing with it.

This game's biggest problem, worse than the godawful mic quality, the flat sound design, the dearth of guns and the overabundance of meds, is the absurdly long TTK. Getting the drop on someone means nothing. Being in a bad position has no consequence when you can always get away with minimal harm, and then chow down on your backpack full of meds. The only way anyone ever dies in this game is getting gunned down at the very start when they can't find a gun, or if they get focused by two or more people at the same time.

With low TTK in a BR game you'd only end up with people camping with snipers around the edge of the ring and killing you before you know what happened. Here the loop isn't 100% "walk around aimlessly for 20 minutes and die to some fag camping in the bushes". Newfags will immediately try to shoot any enemy they see regardless of the situation, and then complain about high TTK because the enemy had time to retreat and heal up in a position they could easily hide behind cover. Instead you want to stalk the enemy squad and only attack them when they're in a position they can't easily get to cover to, or just take them out close-range.

I don't know what it is exactly, but none of the other battle royale games ever looked interesting to me until apex. Fortnite in particular, the building mechanics and cartoony art style were turn offs for me (I'm not big on multiplayer third person shooters either). PUBG gameplay looks fine but the game itself looks so bland, same with cawadoody BR. Apex has the competent FPS gameplay of PUBG but the map looks more interesting/varied with some actual color. I kind of like the idea of it being more team focused with the character abilities like TF2/Overwatch and strongly encouraging you to stay together with the whole "jump master" thing. Meanwhile in fortnite, half the games I play with randos just have people completely ignore me and jump to other parts of the map immediately. Really helps that its FTP as well, I'm not dropping 60 bucks to check out cod br just to be disappointed
Only downside is you have to play on fucking Origin, which is complete AIDS. Hopefully some other company will put out an Apex Legends knock off without needing that shit
