You need to plug a controller if you want to play properly and if you press ESC it closes the game no questions asked. The game itself is terrible; the music is uninspired and boring, the levels are bland and don't have interesting alternate paths remember how optional paths in previous games took you to an island where old japanese soldiers attacked you with shitty "tanks" and "airplanes", and another where you fought gigantic worms and snails with a special vehicle that had a drill and machine guns mounted to it? There's none of that in XX, it's just generic military bases, there are absolutely no new enemies, just a reskinned rebel army, the bosses are generic machines and leona is broken as shit her moon slash can reflect/erase many projectiles and it's so powerful and fast it shreds most things in seconds, even console warriors didn't fall for this piece of shit, Metal Slug Anthology always ends up in PS4's top 15 best selling games while XX doesn't even reach top 100.
Skip that piece of shit and play Advance if you haven't already done so, i got XX and the leona DLC for $3 in a xbox sale about 4 years ago and i still regret it.

>But minimizing shooting in Batrider is not quite as big a deal as it is in Battle Garegga.
No no it's just as important, the main difference is Batrider wants to lull you by kicking it in late. You don't get benchmarks like the first Black Heart fight in Garegga until you're balls deep, the closest thing is the "wall of doom" when you're fighting the CEO.

Trust me, it really isn't. I've done considerable amounts of experimentation measuring adaptive difficulty before and after all sorts of different ways of playing the game. As long as you do a good job getting points and avoiding giant bomb icons, you really don't have to worry too much about shooting so much you make the game harder. With some practice one can enter stage 6 at pretty much the lowest adaptive difficulty quite consistently. It helps to adjust your shooting speed at frequently to kill bosses faster or keep enemies from flying between your shot gaps during stages, but it's not really so much for the purpose of controlling the adaptive difficulty.

Do you have a write up of your findings? Put it on pastebin ok? I'm curious how you can get to stage 6 at minimum rank and not see a difference in Grubby's patterns after trying out different ways to clear that stage. I mean, you can get to stage 6 in Garegga on minimum rank consistently if you know exactly what to do (and what not to do), but it's a quirk of reactivity in the rank system and while it shows good understanding of the game it does not translate to a high scoring run. If you're getting there at low rank with a decent score then I'm really at a loss.

Nope, if that was the case it would have disappeared in japan to. What happened in america was nigger gangs started hanging out in arcades, and made the area unsafe so the paying customers( mostly white woman, and their children) stopped coming back. Eventually almost all the arcades had to shutdown because of the gangs.
676bc7 No.16104474
>>16104392
No, the other anon is right. Arcades were mismanaged, preferring to chase after the quick buck rather than long term repeat customers. Redemption machines were a huge symptom of this, along with things like arcade owners jacking up difficulty, not bothering to do repairs, and so on. Combine that with a western industry that couldn't make games for shit, and when they did they made shit like Gauntlet that epitomizes "quarter muncher". The whole gang thing being pushed by (((media outlets))) of the day didn't help either. In the end arcades as a business mostly self-destructed though.

Tetris: The Grand Master and TGM2: TAP Plus are both playable on MAME. You probably want to use shmupmametgm, which is a fork of SHMUPMAME (which is a fork of MAME) designed to correctly run the TGM games without input lag and at the correct speed. In normal MAME versions the TGM games would actually run a bit slower than normal, though newer base MAME versions may have fixed this by now.
TGM3: Terror Instinct is a bit different because it runs on Type X hardware, which is really just embedded Windows XP, so you can run it on Windows directly. However, you need to apply a patch to eliminate any input lag. Embed related goes into detail how to set up all three TGM games.
Alternatively, you can look up freeware TGM clones for PC like Texmaster or Nullpomino.

And this.
In my area, arcade machines were most common in pizza restaurants, malls and bowling alleys.
I remember my friends and I going to the bowling alleys after school and playing games for hours.
In time the niggers began to visit the malls and bowling alleys, because with so many white kids hanging around, they had an excuse to be idle around those places.
The pizza restaurants stayed mostly free of that shit though, until a bit later when obese single mom niggers realized they could go get some cheap pizza and then have their kids go crazy while they drank alcohol or talked on the phone.
The last place I saw with arcade machines in my area was a local bar, nothing crazy, just some classics and shit like golden tee. And lo and behold, niggers moved in, idled around the machines and became a nuisance even there. The bar owner removed all the machines except for golden tee after some nogs broke into one of the machines and stole all the quarters.
Arcade machines provided a cheap excuse for niggers to loiter in otherwise normal business establishments. Full stop.
As for any of the other theories about business owners ramping up the difficulty and stuff, it's just not true. At 14 I got a job at an arcade shop in my local mall. The manager taught me how to open the cabinets, change settings, etc. Very few machines were being abused by being set on high difficulty. Only the very newest releases would be set on max difficulty, and even then they'd be lowered after a couple months. Literally no one gave a shit either, as most kids would just share their quarters or share continues in order to see the ending. You went to those places with cash to spend, it was as much about the games as it was about sharing strategies, watching the games and just hanging out. Basically, for you young guys, arcades were basically irl /b/ and /v/ for us old fags.
Niggers really did ruin it all, because arcades require a high trust society to work. It was as much a social thing as it was a gaming thing.

Assuming the "best value" of 20 cents a credit a lot of games jumped to $1.29. I've never seen "fractions" of a credit used on machines before.
Miku Arcade went from $1.00 to $1.29
Groove Coaster went from $1.00 to $1.29
Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 5 went from $1.20 to $1.29
Dead Heat went from $0.80 to $1.29
Magicians Dead went from $1.20 to $1.29
Gunslinger Stratos 3 went from $1.00 to $1.29
I'm not saying anything about the quality of these games except Maximum Tune owns just the machines I remember.
But the biggest jump is Time Crisis 5. Going from $0.80 a credit to $1.40. What the actual fuck? That's almost double. Is there a Time Crisis bubble? Should I invest in Timecoin™?
And Halo Fireteam Raven just straight up costs $2.00 a play now.

Don't believe me? Check out how gamers were portrayed in 70s movies like Wargames and TRON: rowdy groups of boys mixing vidya and kids life effortlessly. Then jump to The Wizard (1989) aka the big commercial for Mario 3: suddenly gaming is one lonely nerd mastering a single title.

Evolution doesn't real, because it's anglo anti-science. Anglos have a hard time coming up with theories that actually work: so they throw their hands in the air and declare there isn't an actual underlying cause to phenomena, and it's all random.
Why do organisms adapt? Random mutations, dude, stop asking or I'll have you killed. This is the opposite of science, aka the pursuit of knowledge. It is the equivalent of putting a taboo on an entire field of research.
Once anglos are throughly replaced by the shitskins they imported, science will leave behind their curiously inept paradigms and people will laugh at how boastful they were with their cheap answers. Professors will show how organisms are highly advanced, learning machines able to self-modification over generations, sometimes more effectively than others: and in one corner, you will have a parody of Darwin dressed like a jester - spitting and yelling that no inherent mechanism for internal planning is necessary and all happens by pure chance, until something sticks.

The excitement of arcade games wore off with time even in the mid eighties before the NES. People had their favorites and one or two in a corner store would suffice. Having said that, the sound of an early 80's arcade was the greatest symphony never composed.

Today i found a metal slug X cabinet in some run down mall and i 1CC'd the entire game with some guy i didn't know, but swear must have been my soul mate because we never talked but still coordinated our slug/weapon usage. It's been like 20 years since i've played one of these games with someone that wasn't a family member.

There's a fucking Halo arcade game? And it uses the CE/Reach blocky artstyle?
>343 studios
Oh, nevermind.

343 is just the Halo company now. The game was developed by Raw Thrills. I mean I guess being the ONLY western arcade company it's kind of a given. Too bad they arent so great.
I will defend their Jurassic Park remake though. Very fun, very fair.

Well I just managed to beat HotD 1 & 2 with a joystick not 1cc though but I'll get there easily
It's just amazing the architecture of the second game, I still find it great to look at. Also the zombies in this look gritty as all hell, which I think was lost by 3 due to the upscale in graphics. A shame that I can only manage to play up to 3 due to 4 only being for PS3, but even then bosses in 3 took a very big nosedive.
Is the first time crisis arcade different to the playstation port? In the PS1 there's absolutely no music, which was also a case for HotD1 on PC.

Typing of the dead has music, the time crisis games at least time crisis 2 & 3 are arcade accurate? had 'features' that are most likely would be dip switches featured as unlocks, etc.

My state has this really cool weeb shit arcade that has free play all day for 10-12 bucks. I've been going out to it with a buddy of mine every week or so and its a blast. We've been grinding their DDR extreme machine trying to get better while playing pop'n music and initial d 8 for fun. Its such a wonderful feeling having an arcade that isn't that far away from me. Does anyone here have tips to get better at initial d? The language barrier can be a hassle at times and I'm sure there are some mechanics I'm missing if not minor.
