The best way to get better at Touhou is to practice on better and more challenging bullet hell games. Try the Shikigami no Shiro series.

Play through every game as many continues as is takes. Just because you won't 1cc it doesn't mean you won't get experience with the more advance levels. You will also be training yourself to deal with tunnel vision and fatigue. As soon as you can practice spell cards do so, every day. Ignore score file whores arguing over which maiden combination will yield the best score. Work with a Reimu standard until you can 1ccNB lunatic reliably, then you can worry about chasing scores. Aspercream really does help with the cramping and arthritis just make sure to give your hands ten minutes rest so the medication can absorb before washing them. Despite what the faggots on /v/ say Mountain of Faith is not the easiest Touhou to get into. They are a bunch of secondary trash that only jerk off to touhou pics and then parrot the adivce of a very dumb and very shitty waifufag to try larp like actual players and impress each other by having the "correct opinion" as if this is reddit and they will get asspats. EoSD is the first in the windows games. It serves as a soft reset of gensokyo. Many things were carried over like Alice and such with differing origins or backstories but many things were never mentioned again leaving their canonical status up in the air. From EoSD forward you can consider everything official.
Imperishable Nights is a good place to start because it is a lot more forgiving gameplaywise to new players. While your advancement is tied into your performance, with failling to reach the last stage by 05:00 being a hard loss, it is easier to capture time orbs than you would think. It also features a more forgiving PoC than previous entries as you just need to fly up and focus as opposed to needing full power. Also IM serves as a good training game for stream grazing so as you move on with the series you will have developed your skills.

Anon I feel that Imperishable Night is not the best starting point to try and point someone at and say 'clear this'. With the Human\Youkai switches that effect enemies familiars and how the true stage 6 is locked until you do a normal 1CC I feel it's more of an intermediate title.
While I don't understand the hatred for Mountain of Faith some people have, it's personally the one I really dedicated to and 1CCd first, the one I would recommend the most would be PCB as long as you don't pick Sakuya for that stage 4 boss opener, but again that's just me. More or less everything else you've said is golden.

I wouldn't start with IN because it has a fuck-huge deathbomb window and it'll train you to rely on that shit, leading to bad habits. Start with any game you enjoy though, they're all basically the same thing with a gimmick painted on the top. Not saying that's a bad thing, 2hu does what 2hu does quite well.
Shoot the Bullet and Double Spoiler are great for danmaku training in short bursts. Probably Double dealing character too, but haven't played that one yet.

DDC has weird shot types if you choose the alternative weapons, and Sakuya is broken, but the patterns are alright, and the stage 3 boss teaching you that hugging the bottom of the screen isn't always the best move is a refreshing lesson.
Personally I'd go with PCB.

If you want the best way to get into the series, finding a patched version of Embodiment of Scarlet Devil is the way to go, since the gameplay is as close to 'pure' as you're going to find, the shot types are featured in most of the other games, the bosses are almost all relevant later in the story/fandom, and "Scarlet Beyond a Crimson Dream" is the absolute perfect introduction to the feel of the entire series. PCB over a good choice if not this, though, since the gameplay remains mostly similar.
It sounds like OP already played a few of the other games, though, so from here it's probably best if he goes to SA or LoLK

I collected 540 2hus so I can have every 2hu in every available style and each one wearing a different outfit. Hecatia and Flandre took a very long time, not only being very rare, but also being in areas you can't use your bike. Koakuma and Sagume, while not particularly rare, were extremely annoying because they can run away. I've already given up on manually leveling them up to 100 and am just going to use the save editor for that as well as for the PP to edit them. Should I use the save editor to give them all S-ranks too? Is there any way to unlock the wedding dress for other puppets than your favorite, in-game?
