I've got a steam accout but I've spent less than 40 bucks on it because their prices are retarded, so I wait for sales. I play Minecraft on the Xbox 360, because I like the controller better than the mouse and keyboard for it, but I play Terraria on the computer for the reverse reason.
I played Pong and Space Invaders and Pac-man and everything else back in the arcades. I owned a Colecovision with the Atari adapter. Every console I believe was worth having, I've had. I believe the death of hard copies is not only sad, but dangerous. Steam could up and decide one day that you're "problematic" and fuck you over.

I primarily stick with games & franchises that I'm familiar with unless I see something new that really looks interesting. Most new things don't look interesting to me at all, however. The only games that have really grabbed my attention in the last decade were the Soulsborne games. Other than that, I just stick with what I know. REmake 2 was a big deal for me because the original RE2 came out when I was in high school. I used to really love Soulcalibur, but fighting games are the one genre that really makes me feel how much slower my reaction times have become. Aside from that, I play FFXIV. I don't care for the game itself, but I have a group of friends there that I've known since we all played FFXI together in the early 2000s so I log in once a week to keep in touch.

Also been trying to get into the Little Witch Academia game, but way it's handling time management for side-quest triggers just doesn't sit well with me, and the side scrolling beat-em up sections are poorly crafted so far. I don't think the kinds of games I play has changed very much from when I was younger, the graphics have just improved. 40s here. I tend not to play too many things from my "younger days" because I'm not some faggot with nostalgia goggles superglued on my head. Older games were fun for their day, but most of them don't stand up to time. That doesn't mean, however, that I play every new game that comes out. I wasn't really looking forward to the RE2 remake because I played it 20 years ago and sixty bucks for an upgraded experience really doesn't ring true for me.
As I get older, I find myself wanting to play games that require thinking things through and employing strategy. The Hitman games are fun for this. I also dig L.A. Noire, though I wish they had released more cases for it. As for old stuff, Doom is always fun, and I started playing The Guardian Legend again for NES, for the first time in years.

To further answer this I'm pretty much done with old games, sadly, played everything I've ever given a shit about and have no backlog or desire to revisit anything from the past, all those itches have been scratched. Gaming atm is purgatory, you're given the tiniest scraps of progress and barely competent titles to stew in for what feels like an eternity before anything half decent comes along. I don't get much nostalgia from /v/ itself but video games were my life because that's what I did with my few treasured friends and that's all I had to do when they weren't around. Before meeting them I received a Sega Genesis one Christmas at around age 4 or 5. I lived in some neighborhood without any kids and I had no siblings. I remember begging for a playmate as if my parents could pull one out of a hat. I never asked for video games. They just showed up. Maybe they felt bad for me leaving me in that house with my senile grandmother while they went to work or maybe they heard me talking to myself in my room.
Later I moved and the happiest years of my life came. Video games had been entertaining. Now they were fulfilling because of player 2. Those days were so good to me, it's probably the only reason I've kept going. When I moved away I kept running on that steam but playing for nobody at all. I had grown this limb and forgot why I was moving it. I played straight through high school and some years afterward. One day I turned my computer on as usual and just stared at the wall. I was thoroughly addicted right till that point, playing day and night. It was like a spell had been broken but I never asked to be set free. Video games came on their own and left on their own.
The sudden silence made me face myself and my life. I fell into despair and struggled. I don't know how made it through that but I was "reborn" in more than one sense and my brain had some sort of reboot. I think I want to make a video game now. There's not much else to do besides carry on and occasionally check in on places like this.

One thing I have come to believe after discovering Nietzsche's concepts of the higher man and the last man and then seeing it in action is that some people are born with what can be considered to be the potential to achieve something more than their fellow man.
