I remember AQ having retarded amounts of content. I don't even think I scratched 10% of it back when I still played. The lore was also fucking nuts. I never knew wtf was going on, and it was cool trying to piece it all together through the portals and the timeskips, digging up old quests through the map, grinding until I could meet the level requirements for a certain spot. I had a lot of fun with Caravaneer, building up from a couple of mules on a three-town circuit to cruising the breadth of the desert in humvees with my army of ugly spic mercs. Then I still got my ass kicked trying to beat the bandito HQ because they had more cunts with RPGs than I had goblinos. Was cool that the game maintained difficulty til the end. Seems they finished a sequel a while ago, I wonder how it turned out.
Other memorable games were Mud and Blood 2, which was fucking awesome and also fucking garbage because of the shit RNG. I'd get mad and go look up some meta build and it'd still get fucked by some 90IQ Wehrmacht draftee throwing a stick grenade 140 meters into the pit of my trench or my five anti-tank guys missing successive volleys while the AT gun they were allegedly shooting at ravaged my asshole. The sequel seems to involve progressing up map by map instead of defending the bottom of one, dunno if I like the look of that.
There was a decent little fantasy card game, too. I think it may have even not been cucked by microtransactions. Elements.

Anyways Epic War 1 and 2 were probably the best flash games I ever played, incredible stuff though there's probably a few other flash games I'm forgetting that are very high up there. I'd have to think about it. i remember having fun with an IGPX game on cartoonnetwork forever ago as well.
iirc Warlords was pretty great, as was any derivative of it, including a sidescrolling ARPG type thing that seemed either to be an Achilles clone, or vice-versa but it definitely did a lot more than that game ever did. Pandemic was a classic. Capoeira fighter (3?) was solid, had loads of fun with my little brother playing that shit on a single keyboard. Tamale Loco was good.
There was this RPG that I somehow tolerated, Hands of War. I don't know how I did, but I enjoyed it very much.
There's a few games on the tip of my tongue that I can't quite say, and its frustrating since I remember I liked them a lot. It
Adventure Quest was cool and all for what it was, the attack animations and magics and special attacks felt quite satisfying (as did life-leeching) and the cool shit you could do in that game like become a werewolf or a ninja or what have you was fucking amazing and mind-boggling. I played it alongside Runescape when I felt like it, I can't remember how far I ever got but I know it was between late level 40s and 70s or so, more or less; I also remember using the Axe of Radiance way longer than I should've mainly because I liked how it looked so much and the fact that I loved axes.

It's still around and has a fairly active community. I just checked and they even released a community newsletter this month and are organizing tournaments. The developer is long gone though and hasn't posted or made any updates to the game in years.

Anon, you could advance the map in M&B2 by reaching the top of it. It gave you more points to buy stuff with and IIRC it also gave your soldiers more exp. With how few enemies spawned in the first few waves most strategies involved advancing until you either needed to stop to fight or good cover was spawned. I don't think it was necessarily an h-game but there were h-scenes with Shinobu if you could work your way through the game and make the right choices. It was a VN with puzzles RPG elements and it had a ton of endings storylines. It was better than any actual professionally made VN I have played simply in its depth and variety.

I read that Flash 2014.1 and up can edit swf files, are there any restrictions? I'm hacking a game to run offline but it doesn't decompile correctly in ffdec. I completely finished even after having to manually edit that p-code flash-assembly shit for stuff that wouldn't compile correctly (crashing the projector) or to get around the unimplemented opcodes in ffdec before realizing one of the functions in the game was fucked. So close to fully playable too. I opened the original swf to make sure it wasn't my own retardation and no, it was still fucked, confirming that it's a problem with the decompiler. Proceeding with ffdec would require starting over from scratch but with more manual p-code to avoid fucking up that function the same way with the missing opcodes, so I may as well redo my changes in a pirated copy of Flash if that would be easier and faster. I had my /tech/ fun, time to crank out some hacked games.
Hacking the p-code really was satisfying as fuck. I should actually learn assembly for the NES or Genesis at some point, get into romhacking, etc.

As someone who owns and has beaten that game multiple times over the years, I can say that it is a pretty decent game overall. It's not furry in the slightest and no romance is ever even hinted at. I've played the full version of antwar back when I was a little shit. Game becomes pointless once you reach mid-late game since all you can do then on is just hope an event doesn't trigger that makes you lose minutes of progress for no reason. At that point on the game just becomes an idle simulator since you've probably purchased everything you needed to. Once you get access to all the locations you've pretty much seen everything the game offers. I also remember the event sounds being insanely louder than everything else in the game.

I'm still fucking mad what Ben(Jew)Leffler coped out with Exmortis 3. I was so fucking immersed with the lore behind 1 and 2 and remembered how excited I was for 3. The mysteries behind 1, and how the entire theme was you can't escape fate. Exmortis 2 diving deep into the whole post apocalypse while being manipulated by Lord Vlaew the entire time. Holy shit did 3 take a dumpster dive, with one of the dumbest fucking endings to what could have been an epic flash trilogy. What pissed me off the most was how lackluster Lord Vlaew's final boss fight (when 1 and 2 really projected him as a powerful malevolent corporeal bad ass).
If this series was taken over and remade properly, I would legitimately play the fuck out of it and even go as far to watch a movie adaptation of it. Since Ben Leffler the flash shekelmeister still owns it (Exmortis 3 is still fucking $20 for fuck sakes) I doubt that will happen anytime soon.

Flash games were still big until at least 2012 to 2014. Just look at happy wheels or that escaping the prison game. They did have a decline in popularity once people found out about Minecraft though. I remember originally playing that game on some cracked client called mineshafter, and occasionally when there was free time during computer class a few people would play it. More once they updated the game to make LAN easier to set up. Then sometime during high school, I put Quake 3 on most of the computers and that class pretty much turned into nothing but quake multiplayer instead of actually doing any work.
I can't believe it's been almost a decade since then.

There were two matanui games. The one you showed a screenshot which was more like Myst. And another which was more like a traditional P&C adventure game. Both of these games have since been re-released as freeware by the original dev and have been bugfixed by fans along with a bunch of other Bionicle games. Even more interesting is that an alpha and beta version of the original Bionicle PC game was leaked sometime last year. This is the game that was advertised pretty heavily in all the instruction manuals, but it got canceled in October 2001 due to development delays and persistent bugs, as well as not living up to Lego's standards. Considering that the game ends with a teaser for the Bohrok, it would've been a little weird to have it come out in 2002 or something, but I don't think it would've been that big a deal.
Luckily, a group of fans has been working on bugfixes on these leaked versions, so they're more playable now. I installed the beta and started poking around, and aside from random crashes from time to time, it's playable for the most part. There's no listing anywhere of what the controls are, so there's a good deal of trial and error. I did have one instance where I missed out on picking up the mask of night vision, so I couldn't go through a dark tunnel area without stumbling blindly. When I tried to go back, I found that the barrier that had opened to let me pass in the first place was back, and there was no way to open it again because the boss was on the other side and impossible to attack. Had to cheat and give myself the mask to proceed. There are also issues with the grappling hook mechanics, including one hilarious bug where jumping while firing the hook causes you to float upwards until you let go, which does come in handy in letting you skip the somewhat buggy platforming sections.
At any rate, it does feel like closure to finally play it over seventeen years later. You can download it here (download the launcher installer, you can download the alpha/beta from within the launcher and it will automatically download patches):

Also, those NekoGames titles. The ones that all have this color palette. Some puzzle titles, some non-action exploration games, mostly arcade stuff, and two or three of these RPGs. Kind of Ys-like combat with just walking into things. Kill things, get supplies, level up, buy and find more equipment, find secrets, move on, try to finish the game before you kill too much or the shop doesn't let you back in. There's an unexpectedly large amount of content for what is a single screen game.

Sherwood dungeons was a shit sequel that killed the superior previous Sherwood game which was all about shittalking clans full of 12 year olds and killing them all with combo moves they didn't know how to do.

I actually started to download flash games last year because muh nostalgia, and host them on my phone with IWS.

You never had to "abuse" cheat engine. The save file was local, you could easily modify it and give yourself 100000000 gold and never worry about money.
Honestly the most fun thing about flash games was the ability to hack them. I enjoyed being scum.

If someone could help me out, i remember a game where you played a girl running away from a bear and if you got caught by it you got mauled to death. It's just kinda gory now but back then it was pretty grim.
