English is not your native language, is it? Look, you'll have to provide more information than that.
1. Make sure you have an up to date copy of the game (version 1.17.2)
2. Make sure you're using an up to date version of the mod (version 2.0.2)
3. Make sure your copy of the game was not previously unpacked by another utility, (i.e. you want a fresh copy with no prior tampering or modification, no DSFix, etc)
If you're pirating, then you'll have to find a torrent that will give you access to version 1.17.2, then try again. Then, follow the instructions as listed on the mod's description page:
1. Make a backup of any saved games. (The tool should not modify or delete these files.)
2. Install and set up DSFix or other .dll-based mods. Some users have reported that installing these mods after unpacking causes crashes.
3. Download UnpackDarkSoulsForModding and place the executable file in your Dark Souls DATA directory.
4. Run UnpackDarkSoulsForModding.exe by double-clicking on it. A command prompt window should appear.
5. Do not close the window until the prompt indicates that the process has completed. Make sure you read any prompts carefully before answering.
6. If you are not using a standard installation, the tool will prompt you for input if it discovers irregularities. Choosing to continue will attempt unpacking, but may crash or produce incorrect results, especially if the archive files are non-standard. For best results if this occurs, re-install / verify cache in Steam, installing .dll mods as above if needed.

Read Daughters of Ash posts and bug reports on the Nexus. One of the comments made sure I'd never never touch this one. There's a lot of mods out there for different games that do exactly that that dude's talking about, and they all fucking suck.
"Sorry, you're an amazing programmer for being able to do this, but you're not a great level designer, the item and enemy placement is just straight up awful, reminding me of the worst parts of Dark Souls 2 and Nioh, with ganks after ganks with the mook shooting you from afar again and again. I do get curious what went through your head when designing those enemy positions and if you really thought that would be fun, if you really thought anyone would bother fighting these encounters instead of just running through everything, especially the bone chimney made me think "what the hell were they thinking".
I feel like what bothers me the most is that most changes feel like they were done for the sake of changing, not for making something better. Some specially good bonfire positions in the original were changed for no reason besides to say "I changed it". PtDA made changes, but also kept what was good and I can count in a single hand moments where I felt like an area was worse than the original. In case of this mod I can't find a single instance where I prefer this over the original."
Apparently the Prepared to Die Again mod is going to have an update "in a couple of weeks", so I'll give that a shot then. But for now I'll try a playthrough with the item randomizer.

I never played any DS games. My impression from what anons say, Dark Souls is the only good one, with 2 being a let-down and 3 irredeemable trash and/or a bad bloodborne clone.
I like medieval settings and I'm interested in trying out DS1. Any things I should know before playing? Can I play with just a mouse/keyboard? My gamepad stopped working a few months ago and I still haven't bought a new one.
Also is the combat good or just bullshit rolling spam? From what I understand you can parry attacks, and use the shield to block, but bigger enemies still damage you even if you block with a shield?

DaS1 has an amazing first half, and an average second half; game has decent replayability and build variety. DaS2 varies from average to good in the base game, and from good to great in the DLC areas; but there's a lot of different builds and weapons to dick around with. Haven't played DaS3, so no comment.
You CAN play with mouse and keyboard, just like you can plug in a banana or a toaster or a Guitar Hero controller to do it. Doesn't meant you should. Get a gamepad.
Combat is good. Rolling and block cost stamina, which you also use to attack. Very few enemies bypass shields, but shields only block based on their "resist" stat, a shield with 80% Physical resist is going let through 20% of the damage, same with elemental damage. Parrying is more for non-boss humanoids, and helps you deal a metric fuck ton of damage, but carries a huge risk where if you fuck up you take the normal hit and don't do anything back.

I have Dark Souls 1 and 3. 3 took some getting used to because everything is much more fluid and there are way more enemies, but I liked it a lot.
My major issue with 3 was that invasions are super fucking gay now. Invaders can drink estus (heal) now and every invader just hangs back and tries to bait you into enemies while throwing shit at you like a massive douche. If you ever get one of these guys in a 1v1 environment: you better hope you are using a very quick weapon or you will literally never hit them. Rolling has a ton of I-frames, can be spammed seemingly endlessly and stamina regenerates so quickly that you likely won't get a hit in even when they exhaust themselves. I was a strength build and my weapons were so slow I couldn't even connect after stunning them with a kick.
(Un)Luckily, the reverse is also true so you'll both end up rolling through everything and be locked in a stalemate until someone just gives up. Aside from that I think it's definitely worth a playthrough.
Anyway, on the topic of Dark Souls 1 knowledge:
I've heard mouse and keyboard are trash but I've also heard from some friends that they manage just fine. I think speedrunners use M+KB so it is definitely possible.
There are fake walls in certain places that you can hit or roll through. If you end up in a place where it seems like there should be more to it, or you go down a hallway and end up at a wall, try hitting it.
If you wanna run with shields that's fine, that's how I did my first play through. if you wanna block big damage though, you'll need a big shield. Heavier armor and weapons will sacrifice your rolling ability, but if you are committed to being a big boy then you will find that you hardly take enough damage to matter, anyway.

Online is dead and Remaster helps split both the communities. Remaster honestly has very little going for it.

>Magic and pyromancy effects are nice
>QoL changes such as UI scaling, being able to use multiple souls at once and the bonfire by Vamos
>New lighting looks good in a few places
I think that's it for the positives.
<Many bugs still remain from PtD, especially for online which was never that good to begin with
<Splits the DS community so if you are a PVPfag you will be missing out anyway
<Online has changed so more phantoms can play in the same host's world
<Overpriced for what it is
<Removed Prepare to Die from the store, so there is no longer a legitimate way to play it (biggest sin they committed in my opinion)
<Covenants, while never a strong point, are even more meaningless now, much easier to switch and switch back
<The lighting is fucked in some areas like Logan's hideaway in the library, the Darkroot Basin having a sun reflect off of the water while standing right next to a cliff that should block it
<The lighting makes some armour pieces/sets look like shit, main example being the Elite Knight gear, essentially the canon or poster boy armour
If stable 60FPS is that important, you should probably get Remastered. DSFix was fine for me. The rest of the changes aren't a big deal and some downright lessen the experience.

DS2 got an unfair treatment because everyone is going to compare it to DS1, which is a far better game. On it's own it's enjoyable but if you've already played the first one, then you have a very unfair comparison to make with enemy design, enemy placement, overworld design and it's infamous hitboxes. It did some cheeky things like being doused in water reducing fire damage but increase lightning damage and powerstancing, but it fucked up too hard in other things.

Okay, but I say it's bad. Several of the enemy designs are objectively bad (such as the giants at the dragon temple with seemingly infinite stamina, the ogres with their absolutely bullshit hitboxes, and those FUCKING ICE REINDEER), many of the hitboxes are objectively downright atrocious (I mentioned ogres, you can get grabbed by a mimic while fucking behind it, and literally every single boss grab attack). The only thing I can't say is objectively bad in that list is the enemy placement, and then only because it depends entirely on how much you value enjoyable difficulty against annoying bullshit, and all I have to do here is point to both Shrine of Amana and the FUCKING ICE REINDEER.
>>16084735
It doesn't matter how much it adds or how well it adds them if it can't even succeed at the basics. Powerstancing is cool and I was legitimately sad to see it go, and it's definitely better with multiplayer though that doesn't matter a fucking jot to me since I never summoned. And a few of the NG+ changes, like Freya attacking you on the cliffside, were actually interesting, I will give them credit for that.
But I don't see why you're bringing Estus Shards and Bone Dust into it, DS1 did almost the exact same thing with kindling and Fire Keeper Souls. Torches were utterly worthless outside of a few nonsense puzzles (setting fire to a goddamned iron windmill? Really?), Fragrant Branches of Yore were poorly thought out and at least in SotFS could fuck you over since one of them is behind a fucking statue, lockstones were used maybe a handful of times outside of what were probably the most aggravating areas in the base game. And all of this is still beside the point because they still couldn't get the basics right.
