Zero knowledge and interest of Vietnam, was it even an interesting conflict? I'm real interested in WW2 and tactics and how engagements of the enemy would play out, the actual day to day operations and how battles would play out. Would they just lay in bushes and just completely unload and hope they die first? I got a good 200 hours out of Darkest Hour when the nu-devs started updating it, it lost a bit of the charm it had. They changed some gun sounds, added some shit tier voice acting and mechanics that don't really play well with the core design of the game like squads and creating camps to spawn on. I appreciate that they were trying to breathe some life into it but there was more than enough players. This was at the end of 2016, early 2017 I believe I wonder if it's still alive. Still I got a good 200 hours out of the game, kar98 only, never played other classes, I wanted the challenge of a rifleman, I got so good at adjusting the bullet drop, I sniped niggers fields away. Only regret is I wish I recorded all my footage. Thank you for reading my blog, I have no online friends to discuss with.

IF you're interested in history, the Vietnam conflicts (yes there were more than just the one with the USA) are increadibly interesting. From French Indo-China to the North/South split to the conflict with China. Tactics and strategy evolved so much, weapons and doctrine evolved at retarded paces. Hell you even have the crazy shit that is the Vietnamese not even hating Americans, but the fucking Chinese at the end of it.
Look up "Project Eldest Son" for a small bit of the crazy shit that happened in Nam.

Fun fact: Ho Chi Minh actually loved the USA and lived there for awhile. He preferred the USA far more than the Soviets and China. Vietnam was a very interesting conflict, actually. To sum up a lot of bullshit, the French really outdid themselves in treating the Vietnamese (and basically all their Asian colonies) like absolute dogshit.
Ho Chi Mihn grew up westernized due to working in France, U.S and U.K (and also having some education in the U.K). He drank the capitalist kool aid about freedom after WWII and drew lots of parallels to how the French were oppressing the Vietnamese, he tried to appeal the U.S and Western powers but of course France was an ally so they disregarded him. Which of course caused him to go to Russia for help.
After fighting the French from 1955-1964 and winning, the 'murricans come in with no clear goal of missions operation, in an effort to make an 'independent' country they create a completely corrupt and vicious government from local strongmen (because they literally know nothing of the people or culture they're actually trying to "help").
The house of cards naturally fucking falls as the Americans fail to accomplish any of their objectives and pull out of Vietnam.
Ever since, the people responsible for losing the war (the army, the generals, the government) have been astroturfing how they didn't actually 'lose' the war and it was 'everybody else's fault but our own'.

If you haven't tried VTE for Operation Flashpoint, it's real good. One of the few exceptional total conversions, like the FDF mod. Play with the config that keeps radio voices and the US side will call out enemies as "Charlie" instead of rifleman, AT soldier, etc.
