I liked 4, i don't think i played 2 long enough to make a honest judgement of it.
If you want to play the game with the Undine (Monster Rancher 2), you'll most likely have to use a save editor.
You see the main gimmick of the games was that you could briefly swap out the game cd for any other one to generate a monster based on the cd.
Now, Monster Rancher 4 has "disk stones" as random drops that you can turn into monsters so you're not dependent on CDs unless you want to fill the compendium to 100%.
But in 2 you can only either get monsters from CDs or from the market. The market only has a selection of six monsters total and only 3 at a time (2 are always available, and the 3rd changes with the in game season). Not only is Undine not one of the market monsters, but you can't generate one of her from a CD until you unlock her, which requires a different, non-market (so CD only) monster (a Hopper, specifically) and need to fulfill some conditions with it (that i don't remember), and then hope that your Hopper randomly decides to dig up a hot spring on your farm during winter. The good news is that the following event gives you an item that you can use in monster fusion to make the resulting monster an undine without a cd.
Or you can just use a save editor to turn a monster from the market into an Undine.
Also, you probably should use a guide for how to raise monsters efficiently.
