I quit. Their stupid spell batching shit makes PvP a headache, on top of making everything about the game feel like ass. Retail vanilla/TBC were never anywhere near this bad, with animations going off and the damage showing up half a second later or with mobs dying and still getting abilities off. The last straw was entering a 70 WSG and seeing that the devs hadn't put in a limit on faction numbers. Normally if 6 Alliance join then only 7 Horde can join; on this server if 6 Alliance join then 10 Horde can join.

Of course those aren't the only reasons. A slew of broken core mechanics (Divine Shield not blocking everything, no summoning across continents), undertuned as fuck heroics, quality of life stuff stuff (guild bank issues, mailbox name not auto-filling), and general incompetence of the devs as we saw from how long it took them to handle the crashes and them pushing fixes during EU/NA prime time, and them not communicating outside of discord (would it really kill them to have recurring system messages to announce major issues or to just talk to players without needing a third party application? or use their fucking forums for more permanency on their messages and the discussions?). Netherwing isn't as bad as Sunwell, but it isn't much better.

Tanking early on is ass. You get no rage to handle mobs. Your best bet is to just barely hold the mobs off of people. Also, keep in mind that it's fine if people in your group take a few hits every now and then. If a trash mob is at 15% with the whole group nuking and it turns to the Rogue or runs to the Mage, it's fine to just let it go. All your rage should be spent on 1 Demo Shout as you pull, and the rest on Sunder Armor/Revenge/Shield Bash. Make sure to pool rage at the end of a pull so you can start the next pull with some rage; use Bloodrage between pulls to stop your rage from dropping if needed. Shield Block is useless if you're not Prot, unless you're fighting a boss and have a good threat lead and the healer is struggling on mana. Once you get Berserker Rage, tanking becomes super easy.

Have done a few. I'm not in the guild though. Worst offender are the Underbog Giants and Lords. The Giants are supposed to hit super hard, but it feels like they barely hit harder than a normal mob. The Lords are supposed to be some of the hardest hitting mobs heroics, hell they do about as much dmg as the Karazhan Skeletal Ushers, but they hit for about a third of the damage they're supposed to. And we're talking about tanks that aren't wearing pre-raid BiS and aren't fully gemmed/enchanted. They're supposed to be a nightmare to kill but they're just a speed bump here. Same with all of the other hard hitting heroic mobs, like the golems in Mech, Defenders in SP, Mortal Strike Portal Keepers in BM, Myrmidons in SV, etc. Quaqmirran's spit attack barely did any fucking damage, was hitting for like 800 a tick. They said their server was supposed to use 2.0 tuning, where shit was so punishing nobody brought melee to heroics and Prot Paladins couldn't tank because they'd fall over dead instantly without Demo Shout/Thunder Clap. This feels more like how 2.4.3 did after all the heroic nerfs: you can't just breeze through them but it's not really a challenge aside from a few specific things.

I was one of the first people to hit Outlands on Sunwell. Roughly one in every three mob had some sort of bug associated with it, some minor (slaves in Zangarmarsh not sharing damage with each other when they buff themselves), other major (ogre mages in nagrand not having a mana pool, and thus not casting spells). Instances were a buggy mess. In MT mobs were fighting each other and the Priest mobs were spamming PW:S non-stop. If you pulled group A and group A only, and there was a nearby group B with a Priest in it, the Priest in group B would spam PW:S on group A's mobs. Trash packs in OHF did non-elite levels of damage, Murmur's room wasn't scripted and just had like 30 mobs standing still, etc, etc. There were a lot of core class issues, especially with Shaman talents not working at all. Basically a really shitty realm. But the thing is that the Sunwell devs are PAID. The cash shop and donations are meant to act as a means to pay for the dev's employment. And they did all this PR crap pre-launch saying everything was "110% scripted" and flawless. So in other words, they knew everything was fucked, made false promises, and accepted money. That's called a scam.

If the BB is anything like other private servers, there should be another 2 great farming spots for ranged DPS. One at the top of the mast you can access by rope near shops, located to the right of your screenshot. Useful for sniping passerbys, though extra range talents are recommended for maximum utility.

Second spot is even better as you can snipe auction & bank users from there. Near Horde Flight Master go on top to the tiled roof on the right and jump on the protruding wooden beam. Extremely useful for sniping and safe from guards with correct positioning.

There are other spots that deserve honorable mention but are more situational and thus of limited use such as middle floor of the BB tavern and Alliance FMaster's hut. Happy ganking!

Demo Locks aren't that great in BGs. They don't just have enough dmg to kill stuff fast and their extra survivability doesn't help when there's 3-4 people beating up on them. Not having their DoTs protected by UA or dispel resist hurts them quite a bit too. Aff Locks are crazy strong once they get enough resil to not die from being looked at since they just do so much damage and apply enough pressure to fuck over 2 full time healers during engagements. Destro Locks are great once your gear reaches Sunwell levels and you have S3-4 PvP gear on top of it.

Rogue vs Warlock was always a messy fight both classes preferred to not engage in 1v1 (played both).

The rogue needs to open with a a garrotte following with a kidney shot stun right before it wears off. If he feels confident, using vanish offensively if an option (the Rogue can still escape with sprint against a Warlock in most cases). It's absolutely vital to kick their fear, if you get hit by their instant AoE fear, instantly pop medallion as to not give them time to cast a proper fear and instead kick them in their face. If everything goes down according to plan you can usually take them down.

But if the Warlock isn't a retard and has a succubus summoned which is the best PvP pet for them (except against druids), he can simply charm the Rogue after the opening get positioning, cast DoT's and fear, forcing the Rogue to disengage with shadowcloak and vanish or sprint. The Rogue is now unable to safely rengage the Warlock without his CD's, unless the Rogue managed to hurt the Warlock enough before the charm that he feels confident on taking him down without defensive CD's.

On the other hand as a Warlock, he has no way of killing the Rogue unless they've fucked up and have both vanish and shadowcloak on CD. If they wish to escape with only sprint, it's doable but generally requires having medallion equipped.

Especially MS Warriors were really strong since they countered the 3 strongest PvP classes (rogue, resto druid, sl/sl warlock). The latter two because they fuck up their sustain which is what makes them strong, Rogues because they can tank their damage, don't care about silence and the Rogue can't purge rend and escape with vanish.

But a decent Warlock definitely has more than a chance against a Warrior unlike Rogues and Druids. Again it comes down to the Succubus. The Warlock needs to kite the fuck out of the Warrior and make good use of charm and fear spells to buy space.

If the Warrior charges you, cast charm. If he's dumb (most Warriors) he'll purge it with medallion. Now the Warlock casts his instant AoE fear followed by a proper fear spell and dots. Now it's a long drawn out sustain fight the Warrior can't win.

If the Warrior is smarter and waits for the charm to break and charges the Warlock, he'll cast his AoE fear which the Warrior purges. Things start to get dangerous for the Warlock, if he casts his dots then casts immolate to bait an interrupt (and then fear) or simply rolls the dice on the Warrior mistiming their interrupt and casts it immediately and either one of these succeeds, the Warlock has the encounter in the bag. If he gets interrupted he'll have to hope to get another charm in (low CD) or his second fear hits when the Warriors interrupt is on CD.

I wouldn't say either one has a huge advantage but it's probably the strongest Warlock 'counter' for the simple fact that Warlock beats most other classes without it getting too scary for them.

Here's how a PvP fight goes with good Lock vs good Rogue: Cheap Shot > Kidney Shot while waiting for the Succubus to cast Seduction. PvP trinket and Blind the Lock once Seduction lands, Cloak of Shadows if he trinkets the Blind, and then go kill the Succubus. Vanish/Restealth, Sap the Lock, open up on him again and just spam /laugh emotes because you're a Rogue. If the Lock Fel Doms another Succubus, use Prep to Vanish and repeat once your PvP trinket is back up. The only way to Lock can win is if he lands a CoA during the Cloak.

No. 70% Crippling Poison means the Rogue will win unless there's a huge gear/skill difference between the two. Even lolOrc Warriors with 45% stun resist can't do much except pray for back to back to back stun resists. Hell, the best Rogues will rage starve the Warriors by kiting them around out of combat and forcing their rage to decay, force them to Berserker Rage a Sap, kite some more, restealth again and get a full duration Sap so that they can bandage. The best a Warrior can do is make the fight last longer.

So what do you do after the Warlock trinkets blind and use cloak? If you go for the succubus he'll run away and time a fear for when cloak runs out, it will probably wear off before the succubus is dead and even if you kill it before you wont have time to run up and kick before getting feared. If you go for the Warlock directly the Succubus will charm you again.

If you Vanish without killing the succubus the encounter is reset and the Rogue has longer CD's to recuperate.

If the succubus is dead, cloak is on CD and both players trinket is on CD the Rogue might stand a chance depending on how low health the Warlock has. But if he fails he's dead.

I have to admit that I'm less familiar with Rogue vs Warrior as I didn't play Warrior but kiting a Warrior wasn't without its problems. Their bleeds would do continuous damage and combined with charge the Rogue wasn't always guaranteed a re-stealth by simply walking away without using sprint.

Face to face the Warrior is superior but stunlocking did play a big part in taking them down. The problem was big bursts from MS when they weren't stunned and continuous ticking bleed even when stunned combined with high physical resistance.

A Rogue can definitely take down a Warrior if they're about the same ilvl but a Warrior wasn't helpless and relatively speaking it was one of the harder classes for a Rogue to kill.

Warrior isn't going to hit the Rogue unless he 1) resists a stun or 2) is able to pop the Rogue out of stealth. Even then, the Warrior isn't guaranteed a crit during their window of opportunity. Warrior doesn't get to Charge/Intercept the Rogue because the Rogue isn't outside of minimum range. Warrior doesn't get to melee the Rogue because the Rogue is outside of melee range. It's the same thing as dead zoning a Hunter, except there's no pet to hit the Rogue. Past a certain level of skill, and assuming equivalent gear, Rogues will always effortlessly beat Warriors.

90% resist rate during Cloak, odds are the Rogue won't get feared. Kill Succubus > Vanish > CC the Warlock to death. A Rogue can Cheap Shot > Kidney Shot > Gouge > Sap > Cheap Shot > Kidney Shot > Gouge > Sap. Forever.

As far as Warriors go, the best case scenario is for an Aff Lock is to juke the pummel and kill the Warrior with dots after he himself dies. Berserker Rage > Intercept + Hamstring > Death Wish > keep pummeling the Lock to death.

I'd sort of agree that counting the lacklustre rewards given by those rep grinds is a bit unfair to use as a means of describing the game as a wholebeing more grindy, but you are definitely expected to have consumables for raids.

Also TBC attunement reps were pretty easy, the only ones which were a a bit of a pain were the optional reps which only granted cosmetics such as in Nagrand, nether rays or nether drakes.

Expected to have consumables, sure. But the expectations that players seem to have on private servers is completely different than what the expectations were during retail. Have reagents, have a few health pots, enough cheap mana pots for the harder bosses and in case of emergency, some Major Mana Pots if there's progress on a hard boss, have some bandages, maybe a few elixirs if the guild is close to downing the last boss of the raid, your gear repaired, and enough money to repair your gear throughout the night if it's progress night. My limited first hand experience with private server raiding guilds along with my second hand knowledge is that flasks and elixir stacking is mandatory, along with always using the best mana pots (sometimes even for trash for speed clearing - what in the actual fuck?), and some guilds even want their raiders to show up with world buffs. From my point of view, putting in that much time for raiding when the game doesn't require even a tenth of that effort is just moronic. It can't even be for e-peen since the content they're doing was easily cleared by guilds before all of the basic game mechanics were figured out. Maybe it's a generation gap thing and I'm just too damn old to figure out how kids who grew up in a world of instant gratification think and operate.

In any case, TBC dungeons reps used to require Revered, which was eventually nerfed down to Honored. At Revered it meant players had to farm dungeons a bit before being able to key themselves for heroics. But then again, heroics in TBC were originally hard enough that you needed some gear to tackle them initially. The dailies factions were a long grind, which took more overall time than getting heroic keys, but the amount of gold you got out of it was humongous. I also don't think the argument is dumb, there's a big difference between some gook shit MMO 1/100000 drop chance bullshit tier crap they shit out, and grinds like TBC dailies where both the grind itself and the end goal are rewarding the player but without needing hundreds of hours' worth of investment.

Sadly does not really work in reality. Its like shaman tanking in vanilla, technically possible but useless in practice. VW taunts are shit and the threat it does is negligible since unlike Wotlk you cant just have Rogue artificially inflate it with Tricks of the Trade. MD is not valid solution either due to CD. You also very quickly find out that resilience on its own is not enough to tank even heroics unless your party is overgeared anyway which renders it for memes. Ferals use partial resi gear at the beginning to offset their lack of def rating, not because RESILIENCE STRONK but because of the lack of viable alternatives.

tl;dr: possible to meme with in right conditions with overgeared party carrying you, but especially then you run into the issue of overaggro if the lack of def rating being vulnerable to crushing blows doesnt wreck you first.

Problem is that you only have one single-target aggro generating skill in Searing pain, and thats not enough to keep threat on you. And when mobs do get loose, you have no way of getting them back except trying to spam Searing Pain, which leaves you vulnerable for interrupts & silences. Also moment you get stunned you WILL get instagibbed by mobs. In BC even most heroics had plenty of mobs that love to spam stuns & silences which will wreck you hard.

Sure Wlock tanking may be possible with right class combinations and overgears, but so is hunter tanking most of Karazhan or 25 oomkins doing Gruul. However the end result will be far from optimal, slow mess only good for memes. Great if you want to have fun with friends, but be prepared to spend at least 3-4 times longer than run would normally take since you absolutely must have dedicated cc & interrupters with you everytime.

BoP does not wipe aggro, its just prevents physical damage and therefore gives other members chance to take aggro away from the BoP'd player. While that can be helpful, remember that poisons & spell dmg still passes through it so depending on heroic the poor wlock will get rekt regardless on places like BF or MGT where spell damage is plentiful. You could try to mitigate the threat issues by having Holydin as healer for Salvation, but that has issues of its own due to their lack group healing. Cleanse is handy thou, but for decursing & CC you would pretty much require to have at least one mage among DPS.

Difference between wlock tank & other tanks are their armor & health though. Sure, they won't benefit from their higher avoidances like dodge & parry which completely negate the dmg, but the passive physical dmg reduction from armor & spell dmg reduction from their talents is more than lock gets. Soul link & VW buff help, but PvE is not Arena. Larger mob packs will fuck you up really badly. Also most silences are not dispellable. Some can be cleansed by Paladin/priest and some can be interrupted while mobs cast them, but there are plenty of effects such as BF engineering bombs that have instant silencing effect which cannot be removed. Again, concentration aura helps, but you should not count on it. Shadow bolt on its own does not generate comparable aggro to Searing Pain due to its slower cast, especially when the wlock is tanking and liable to get slowed by knockback despite the help of Conc aura/talents.

Warr Tank has its strengths, but AoE tanking is not it. 3 bosses in fact require Warlock Tank with Fire resistance gear: Leotheras the Blind's Demon form in SSC, Illidan's demon form in BT & one of the Twins in SWP. Not tried it to see if it still works recently. GMs either hang out there now or have some sort of alert if there's a low level lock there, since I was getting banned within a few minutes and it wasn't automated (GM was fucking around waving at me). The exploit was that setting your pet on aggressive would make neutral guards attack whoever the pet attacked without you being punished. I don't think GMs were giving it a big priority at first because you can just one shot the pet owner to kill them without being attacked, which is easy to do when they've only got <100 health. So any rogues, druids or classes with ranged instants that weren't retards could kill you. Until I started standing on top of the inn and other unreachable places.

Fear will taking casting loss 100% of the time by default (no talents to fix this), so it's normally impossible to cast a fear when a dualwield Rogue is in the Warlock's face (unless you have really slow 1Hs, maybe, or the Warlock just sacrificed his VW for the shield). Mute demonstrated this in his World of Roguecraft vid. And if by some miracle that's not enough you can add Mind-numbing Poison.

Look pal, Rogue PvPing against a Warlock tends to consist of CC Warlock, kill pet, then beat the Warlock to death since reasonably speaking a Warlock can hardly cast shit with a Rogue in his face, esp. if the Rogue is stunlocking because why not. If the Rogue is feeling super gay, he can even casually change his gear for an extreme shadow resistance set before opening on the Warlock since Rogues always get to pick their fights.

It's lovely that you PvP against imbeciles who don't know how to play their class. Reasonably speaking just Berserker Rage will break fear and give them 10 seconds of immunity, and a Berserker Rage + Death Wish + Berserker Rage cycle will give them 40 seconds of back-to-back fear immunity. They can even pop Recklessness if they just want you to die (15 seconds of fear immunity and all their hits auto-crit for the duration). So all you have is a Succubus and Death Coil and in BC the warrior's PvP trinket now breaks Seduction too. Any sane Warrior breaks Seduction with the trinket because that is the only serious CC that works on him.

If you manage to Fear Warriors then you are PvPing against ultra-bads.
