Played thru DaS1 and DaS2.
Then at a friends house, played Legacy of the Fallen, i think it was the name, a norse themed Dark Souls basically. In that game when you dodge, theres no iframes.
I can tell you, iframes in Dark Souls make it fun and the dodge mechanic make it beatable. LotF on the other hand is pure bullshit, nothing worse than to dodge at the correct time to the correct side and still get hit. Frustrating as fuck. Maybe Im a scrub and GIT GUD but, let me tell you, it felt like absolute cock playing that game.

LotF is a shit game, yes. But still, it shows how a simple binary decision (no iframes vs iframes) can change a good game into dogshit, but depends on the game. Mx4 has almost no iframes and is fucking mastahpiece.
Never played DmC1, played DmC2. Never got good enough to get the full extent of its mechanics but I knew there was a lot to chew and swallow.
You can make a case for buffering moves in the sense that avoids senseless button mashing and rewards planning. The MC of DaS is a corpse resucitated a few hours ago, in DmC is a pizza eating, dual wielding bad ass, so it makes sense if one is faster than the other.
To sum it up, DmC is good (never played it tho) DaS is great (beat it several times) but they are both different games. One is fast paced the other is an engagement ring to your input.

Ironically, if you upgrade your armour and shield you can tank through the whole game without a problem or a need to roll.
Rolling gets used the most because it is effective and you don't need to spend any time or souls polishing your armour to make it better when you can just dump everything into your weapon and finish the game faster.

Furi plays nothing like Hyper Light Drifter. The only way you would say otherwise is if you saw gameplay of both but actually played neither.
They're only similar superficially. You fight with a sword and a gun in both, you have a dash button, and you spend a large portion of both games walking through the scenery. But swinging the sword, using the gun, and dashing in HLD are purposefully slow. Furi is about quick reactions to highlighted attacks while HLD is about taking situations slowly and intelligently.

HLD was a bigger disappointment since they cut out the majority of the planned content just to they could push a release. What happened to challenge mode? Rivan the Tamer? Challenge mode AND online challenge mode? There are so many things they showed off in the trailers and promised in their kikescammer campaign that simply never came to fruition, whereas Furi was always a boss rush game from start to finish. The difference here lies in the fact that Furi frankly has better gameplay, which is sad when you consider that one is advertised as an adventure while the other is just a boss rush game.

Don't know about For Honor, but LoL and Smash both have plenty of dashes, dodges, and iframes abuse. You want to know what doesn't? Shootem ups usually doesn't. Contra doesn't. Classic action games typically don't. I don't think SF3rd strike had any outside of supers. Metal slug didn't have any. Cuphead only had iframes on a specific power up, otherwise, you were completely vulnerable during your dash. Old FPS games don't have any of that. I could go on, but if you aren't completely retarded you should get my point. That is, iframe based gameplay is a relatively new thing.
