What are some golf games that have crazy cartoonish things happen in them like they do in Mario Tennis?

I have a stupidly specific itch I need to scratch.

Seconded on Golf Story. I played through it. It really isn't that bad, but it's far from great. I wouldn't even call it good, to be honest. It would be better if the actual golf mechanics were worked on.

It's like a 4/10 all in all.

+ The graphics are really decent, and the character design is fine

+ The RPG mechanics have interesting potential

+ Some of the humor is alright

- The story sucks. It boils down to just doing what the game tells you to do in order, and your character doesn't even give a shit about what he's doing

- Aspects of the RPG mechanics really fucking suck. One of the stats is spin, so when it's underleveled, the ball curves left, and when overleveled, the ball curves right. Not only this, but you can downgrade all stats for their points back except for power, so if you're experimenting and don't know this yet (because the game never tells you) you can fuck up your save by making the ball curve hard left and dump all points into power so you can't undo it.

- The sound effects suck

- The rumble pumps to max for next to no reason. A character saying something forcefully makes it feel like you're holding a lawnmower

- Random mandatory side quests. Most of the game is spent on annoying fucking fetch quests.

- The humor is fucking awful.

- Tons of bugs and crashes. I had the game crash at least 3 times on me and had at least 3 other serious bugs that made me have to reset the game.

- The actual golf mechanics are mediocre at best. Wind has way too strong of an effect. A 3mph wind throws your ball off course by like a dozen meters. You can't actually view the entire course, just a limited view around yourself and where you can shoot. There is no course map. The ground slope can't be viewed as a whole, you can only see the slope at the point where you are aiming (this is the worst, because tons of courses have heavy slope, and it's common to drive a ball, have it roll out of reach where you couldn't check the slope, and have a heavy slope take it), and there is literally no visual distinction for slopes.

- No fucking multiplayer

- Very few interesting courses

I was excited for the game. I love golf games and RPGs, and this game was a big letdown. I don't regret playing it (I did finish it, after all), but I wouldn't play it again and I wouldn't recommend it to anybody else.

Most of them have flashy shots if you get perfect swings or if you make special shot/score

How is this even possible?

I only had golf story hard lock a few times and that was at the mini golf and galf some of the worst 'anime'-styled art I've seen within the manual, the rumble is so weird, either I'm being confused easily or the rumble sounds like an actual sound. I didn't think wind was too crazy, if it's below 5 metres, it's basically nothing but as soon it's over 10 and 20, you have to sort of guess or play a bit safe, you can get around the retarded slope shit by just cheesing with a wedge and dunking/bouncing your ball in as long the flag pole is up, ironically, making spots like sand actually a viable way to get birdies.

Just use the driver to look around :^)

I must have gotten unlucky. My most common bug (the "soft" one that made me restart 3 times) was that when you move the right stick around too much at the end of a projected swing and then return to yourself, sometimes the overview will be way off of your character, to the point that they are far offscreen and you can't see what you're doing or where you're aiming. I couldn't figure out a way of undoing it, and tons of the golf challenges have no way to early exit, so you couldn't hope to sink a shot that you can't see. I had to reset the system every time.

>either I'm being confused easily or the rumble sounds like an actual sound

It does. A few games have actually made use of it, most notably Kirby Star allies (video related). Most games try to avoid the rumble sounds when they're just trying to do rumble, but Golf Story just used the max force for prolonged periods so the sound was incredibly obvious.

I may have been exaggerating with the wind. I haven't played it in a while, but I do remember that there's a point where wind basically does nothing, then 1 mph higher it kicks in incredibly hard. Wind basically has an exponential effect as the number increases.

I forgot about the flag pole shots. It's retarded, but yeah, in most courses, it's easier to just hit the pole and drop the ball in than to putt it normally. The flag pole always stops the ball dead in its tracks and drops it directly in like 80% of the time. They really didn't think that through.
