What are some relaxed games to play in these harsh Winter months? I feel like playing vidya but honestly I don't feel like putting a lot of effort in.

Of course I immediately gravitated to life sims but I've been burnt out on Harvest Moon, Rune Factory, Story of Seasons and Stardew Valley for a while now. I've been playing Banished and Ayanami Raising Project but I feel like I can do better.

Any ideas, /v/?

Kirby and Animal Crossing.

Hat in Time.

Starfy.

I always found seeing orc blood in Majesty snow maps to be soothing. The original Majesty, of course. Alternatively there's something therapeutic about Civ4 and the Dune mod.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

>>15996282

I've done everything but Deathwish in a Hat in Time which doesn't make me feel that comfy, but you right. Animal Crossing is good, but only for about an hour at a time until I run out of stuff to do. I'll check out Starfy, since it feels like I should have played one of them by now.

I actually just replayed Spyro 1 to 100% recently so moving on to 2 would be a good idea.

The Long Dark. Not comfy when you're freezing and/or starving to death looking for matches, but it really hits the spot when you barely survive a blizzard and get a nice fire going. Especially if you're going for the winter theme.

14651a  No.15998354

Think of it more like time compression. Almost every game does this to an extent. A "survival game" that was realistic would mean your character could survive without water for several days, and without food for weeks if not months. It would just be impossible to make a game that has a manageable day/night cycle that is expected to last for 20+ in-game days before food becomes a major need.

The thing that annoys me the most are the wolves, and largely in concept. In reality, wolves will never attack humans. They just DON'T; that's a shitty Hollywood meme. Could have at least been slightly more realistic by making it be grizzly bears instead.

It doesn't have to be 1:1 but when I played it was just ridiculous.

The solution to the issue is to make food harder to find so the game can have some difficulty without expecting you to cram granola in your face every in-game hour.

Also the process for making bows and arrows is the most retarded bullshit I've ever seen. Yeah let me use to coal to power the furnace of a beached ship so I can smelt down metal and perfectly smith my own arrow heads instead of, I dunno, just cutting up one of the billions of tin cans around or using flint or even just fire-hardening the shit.

cdc14d  No.15999392

The day/night cycle was fucking bullshit, as was a lot of other things. It took such a short amount of time you couldn't get anywhere. If you wanted to be set out, explore a place, then go back, then that place needed to be within sight of your base, or you just wouldn't manage it before nightfall. Wear and tear on the shit you wore was also similarly abysmal, as was the hunger and thirst rate, but at least those were countered by the abundance of food and material that the game threw at you (the moment you learn to poach rabbits and get some knife to kill wolves with is the moment you will never ever go hungry again, and there's clothing lying everywhere).

It's very similar to 4. You have more of these small missions (like exporting stuff for his majesty during the colonial era), which I think 3 didn't (or had only a few) and have more foreign countries than just the US and USSR (which are still the only two that may invade your glorious island to force democracy/communism on the poor tropican people). As another anon said it isn't as laid back as the previous games. I don't remember the differences well enough to say which one is the better one though.

i couldnt never get into Tropico 5 as i did with Tropico 4, now citezens dont have individual ideologies and needs, they removed the factions and also no more factions leader advices, Tropico 5 more on advancing eras than devolping the island, also they mixed the population happiness whit the loyalty, now in 5 we just have loyalty that is now approval (inb4, in Tropico 4 happy citizens from unhappy factions, like religious whit no church access, will not rebeld or protest, but this depends how prioritary the religious need is for the individual citizen and how this will impact his happiness).

Also Tropico 6 comes out in March, i think they want to replicate what they did whit Tropico 5.

Was it the severe drop in map size? Suddenly all the buildings are big but the maps are tiny compared to 4, or even the earlier games.

Also, you can get fucked in the missions if you do the wrong thing too soon (like using up a natural resource just to help your economy then getting a "export X resources" mission later). That's the most subtext heavy intro Tropico has ever done, and yes I've seen one and two. Hell it's pretty much the only Tropico intro to have a subtext at all.

This is the Tropico 4 intro https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Y6Oq_kzwzk, it has no signalling of the current political context it is little more than a sweep over an Island and presidente saying he has big plans.
