My wrists get uncomfortable these days when I WASD move. Are there any ergonomically friendly keyboard mappings I haven't thought of, or am I cursed to become a controller user?

I think that could still strain me. I noticed it's the worst when I go from W to S. When I was a kid I used to use sdf and then shift to go back so my fingers were always resting. I should try that maybe,

I've never had this problem unless I'm mashing shift or control for months at a time. I've always had my keyboard in my lap. Try relaxing your right hand in the most natural position on your thigh and placing the keyboard where your fingers rest.

Get an ergonomic keyboard. Or just turn the keyboard a bit to make WASD straighter to your hand.
Also, get a trackball before the other wrist starts to hurt as well.

Going slightly off-topic here, but does anyone else have issues with that nerve in your elbow getting fucked up that causes the entire pinky-side of your arm to go numb? What did you do to fix it?

If something like this doesn't help then you should probably go see a doctor. You have to do something really fucked up to deal nerve damage from gaming. I've also read that you can heal damaged nerves by massaging them everyday, so you could try finding the spots on the arm that stimulate it the most and just rubbing it. Of course you have to stop whatever it is that is killing it.

My sports doc recommended tractions after my wrist began acting up. You wrap your other hand over your pained hand, grab under thumb and pinky, and do gentle tugs. This helped with my wrist pain on some positions. Alternatively do >>15996310 (which i can't check now, it might just as well be as i described)

Either get a chair or table that ensures that you don't have to lean down to see shit. It won't unfuck bad posture by itself but it will make you less likely to keep falling back to it.

You should go see a doctor if you can afford it. Otherwise you need to work on your posture and exercises. I had wrist problems typing on keyboard for a while until I finally could afford a proper chair to adjust my height. Elbow position and distance is key to preventing corporal tunnel. I don't play PC games often because I have a potato. I mostly write fiction and draw in my spare time which can kill your hands just as quick.

It's from resting on the nerve in your arm. I was alarmed when this started happening to me in my mid 30s. Looked online and talked to dr, not a big deal. Change the way you lean/put pressure on your elbow. I find at the desk it helps to have my elbows hanging off and use my forearms as the point of contact. Build your forearms muscles up too, it helps. Get a hand gripper and use it.

That is the worst angle. You don't what your nerves stretched around the outside of your elbow. Optimal arm posture is a split between shoulder and elbow with straight wrists, like a pianist.

Not really in my opinion. They wear down and when the plastic casing punctures or fatigues even once, they leak all of their gooey gel shit all over the place, and it's a bitch to clean up. You can make a much better alternative for a fraction of the cost, probably without even having to leave the house.
Get a sock, fill it 2/3rds with rice, lentils, corn kernels or a similar dry grain, then tie the opening. You're done. PROTIP: Since dry grain tends to sustain heat for almost forever, you can leave it overnight next to the chimney or radiator, or stick it a minute in the microwave, and it doubles as a heat pad for your wrist or for whatever. Corn kernels are ill advised for this purpose. I should have known.

I gave myself a wrist palsy for about a week playing Wurm for too long the first time I joined, had my arm out to the side with the palm bent back for 6+ hours barely moving from the spot so the next day when the numb/pain kicked in I was mighty pissed off cos I was gonna do the same again. Sitting cross-legged, the only way I could operate without aggroing it was to tilt the keyboard up my leg so my hand just fell onto it naturally.
Even with /fit/ you may still be prone to twanging a nerve through prolonged extension but strengthening ones wrists with stretches and hammer curls is a good idea anyway.
6679e0 No.16018328
Make sure your chair and desk are at a good height. Once you have that fixed consider the keyboard.
Don't fuck with that or you'll ruin your wrists for life.
