I really liked Alien Isolation and hoped for a legit sequel. It was a great game and really truly captured the pre-Cameron schlock aesthetics and feel of the Alien film. The true horror of future sequels is that they'll all turn into mobile games. This franchise may be the current one but your favorite franchise could be next!

How can companies keep making the same mistake over and over again. First it was Dungeon Keeper, then Command and Conquer, then Diablo Immortal and now this. They might make a quick buck in the short term but they are seriously damaging their reputation and future earnings in the long term. The only one that seems to try to course correct that was Command and Conquer with an announced remaster. Not a new game but they knew they fucked up with showcasing a mobile game at e3.

<We created a similar system with equally-permanent ramifications on Aliens: Infestation, a Nintendo DS game based primarily on the 1986 James Cameron film. Cameron essentially just made a slasher movie with Aliens. It looked like an action flick, or even sci-fi, but all it really does is spend one hour developing characters that you fall in love with, then the next hour killing them off one by one.

<So we wanted to capture that essence in our game. Infestation features around 20 playable marines. We gave each character a unique name, rank, back story, portrait, color scheme, idle animation, and (above all else) rewrote the entire script in the voice of each character. That means whoever you were playing as at any given moment would have their own unique humor, mannerisms, worries, hopes, and goals. We wanted each character to be someone’s favorite marine. And then we built a game that would brutally kill them off one by one.

There are all these out of the way passages you can explore and almost all of them lead to nothing or garbage pickups. Presumably some of them would be used as areas to rescue team mates if they get downed, but if you're an autist you're going to avoid letting that happen. Mobile is only good for puzzle and turn based games. Squeenix's "GO" series managed to transform their action franchises into puzzle games, it's definitely possible to do the same with Alien.

The beauty of AVP1 is that it's an absolutely arcade FPS, like Quake. Interaction with the environment and story are borderline zero.

Every level is a race to the exit before the random spawns overwhelm you. When rebellion released the demos for each race in 99, they were stuck at maximum difficulty: people learned to beat every level on a single take, with no saves.

It did have a lot of potential, but it was dragged down by dumb characters and a sequel that was more focused on David than the actual aliens.

Tell me, what was the point of the scene where we see neomorphs crest a ridge to show a scene of a cloud of the bioweapon David unleashed on the planet swarming in the air? How did none of the scans of the planet detect this? Why did this scene go nowhere?

Couple that with the bullshit of David defeating and replacing Walter off screen just to set up the WHAT A TWEEST ending that everyone saw coming and you have a film that squandered all potential this trilogy had.

Prometheus being bad could have been forgiven if Covenant had delivered on its promises, but it didn't. We were given cool new aliens and they get dropped so we can get David playing god. If they wanted a movie about David playing god then they should have gone with something that involved Shaw still being alive and David experimenting without her knowledge after wiping out the Engineers. Perhaps having the crew of the Covenant arriving and being preyed upon by David.

It wasn't as good a horror film as the first one, and it was nowhere near as good as aliens in terms of action. It was a bit of a disappointment

A:R was somewhat actually good in a funny kind of way, albeit it was the least scary of all the films except for the body horror clones of Ripley. Its kind of fun to watch and laugh at, but apart from that horrible.; still better than covenant though

It ain't a bad game, though it does show that making a "grounded" Metroidvania (as in having no fancy fantasy items or bird alien magictek upgrades to advance progress), really does limit what can "lock" off an area to be quite mundane. For instance you have to upgrade a keycard multiple times to access different floors is pretty boring unlike getting a Chozo ice beam to freeze a bunch of floating enemies in place.

The only other thing I wish it could have had was access to all the marines from the start instead of just 4 and only 4 unless you start killing them off deliberately. The individual scripts for each character is nice touch which should aid replayability.

It really didn't, the Alien became satan and the film changed genre from a monster closet spook or a dumb action flick into existentialist terror. It's a complete change in themes and a reversal when it comes to the ending, in which Ripley sacrifices herself but that's a good ending.

It was supposed to be a kick in the nuts for redditors who wanted to see the continuing adventures of army dude, stronk womyn and the cute kid. The actors actually wanted to star in it but the script had no place for them. The scene where the beast is born and they hold the funeral is great and you wouldn't get that if they hadn't died at the start.
