How far are you into the game? As you go through you can get special moves which cost MP. They're not all that useful but they spice up the combat.
Also use guard a lot. Some enemies and bosses have attacks you can reverse back to them.

Even on Proud mode I was able to ignore all the other stats and go for pure strength. I don't think that's as viable in the second game.

Coded is a joke, you don't even need to watch a cutscene movie on YouTube, it's the only game in the series that you can ignore completely.
358/2 Days is fun only if you play it for 30 minutes at a time. The game is about 30 hours. It was designed to be the kind of game you play on your way to work, or on a break. Trying to play it in long 6-hour sessions will make you very bored.
X is a browser game, I don't think I need to explain much more. Actually I've heard it's quite fun and there does seem to be a lot of effort put into it, but I've never played it. I'll post some of the cute enemy designs for you to make up your own mind whether or not you'll want to check it out.

Make strength your priority. Magic is useful but it's not as useful as your raw damage output.
Fuck health, health doesn't matter. Don't bother trying to get 100+HP Why? Because mega-potions only heal 60HP and curaga only heals you proportionally to your max MP, which means you have to have a high MP for it to be worth a shit. When you get an ability called Second Chance you will become impossible to kill in one hit, so health becomes even less important.

KH1 has very simplistic combat, but there are at least ways of fighting more effectively. Using certain spells like Gravity against flying or floating enemies makes your life easier. Also, summons and special attacks have their uses as well.
KH:CoM has a combat system that a few people like, but most, myself included, think is complete fucking garbage. At least it's a system that can easily be broken if you know what you're doing. I'd advise you to play 3 worlds and if you don't like it by then, just look up the cutscenes online.
KH2 has pretty damn good combat. Not Bayo, DMC or NG level, but still good. It really is a shame most people just play it on normal and just mash x throughout the game. It's got magic that can be used in combos and even powers up when used as a combo finisher. The magic system is even designed to discourage using it solely to heal, since the cure spell will drain all your remaining MP regardless of how much of it you have. Drive Forms that changes your fighting style, giving you different ways of attacking or even changes the properties of your spells. Limits that use up all your remaining MP for a series of devastating attacks. Summons that act as temporary overpowered party members, complete with their own Limits.
The game admittedly does a poor job explaining why and when you should use these skills and exactly how they work. My advice is to play on critical mode (or at least proud mode) and try to experiment with every ability you get. Or just look up guides that properly explain them.
Days has bad gameplay and isn't worth getting. Just watch the movie version included with the collection. You miss out on some plot points, but it's not worth it.
BBS has different gameplay that isn't as deep or fun as KH2, but it works just fine. All magic and special attacks are equipped in a command deck with limited slots and run solely on cooldowns. There is more to the combat, but it's still all largely limited by what you've equipped in your command deck.
Re:Coded has a watered down version of BBS combat. Not worth playing. Again, just watch the movie.
DDD has pretty much the same system as BBS. There are some other minor changes, but the only major difference is that you now get to forge mons that act as your party members.
KHUX is mobile trash that is completely brainded, but used to be at least playable. It was always pay to win, but if you were dedicated enough you could hold your own against people who payed. Then they buffed the enemies and made it so that the only good medals(attacks and spells) were the ones you can only get by paying real money. Only download for the minigames if you really want Starlight in KH3.

You left out the two biggest problems with Days: it's way too fucking long and it's way too fucking repetitive. More repetitive than CoM and Coded and longer than KH2. I said it earlier in the thread, but the game was designed to be played in very short bursts over a long span of time.

I've seen some new leaks for KH3 and I can tell that the game looks like complete and utter shit. KH3 is what Brawl is to Melee. A good game in its own right but casual unfun floaty trash compared to its predecessor.
Based on what has been leaked this is what the game has unless the day 1 patch fixes some of these issues:

>no secret boss
>no Colosseum
>no post game
>no real exploration of final world

The "Xehanort Saga" should have ended with KH2. there was no need for Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Xion, or Master Xehanort to exist. Everything in KH1 and CoM was well and truly wrapped up at the end of KH2. Sora was reunited with Riku and Kairi, all members of Organization XIII were killed except for Roxas, who lives on through Sora, and Naminè merged with Kairi.

There are parts in '06 where you can literally fall through the level while playing normally, they just forgot to add collision to parts of the ground and never patched it. I get where you're coming from. I think the most fitting end for Xehanort so far was the fake-out death of Xemnas. Around 16:35 in the video. It fits with the theme of the games and actually manages to get you to feel kind of bad for Xemnas. When playing KH2 for the first time, I was convinced that this was the end of the game and of the entire Xehanort storyline. Then I was proven wrong about 5 seconds later.

Very true. That would had been even better for adapting the events at hand, considering that 90% of the combat was pretty much filler content.
It's avaliability would also clarify Roxas' relationship with Axel, which was extremely rushed in KH2.

If you acted like a person enough you got your heart back and went back to normal (Lea situation) but Xemnas, under Xehanort directions convinced Organization XIII that they didn't have emotions so that he could put his heart inside them instead as waiting vessels.
Tbh Yen Sid has said a bunch of stupid shit and almost gotten Sora and Riku killed at least once so I don't really trust the guy anymore.

Here's a "helpful" video. I got an aneurysm at the 3 minute mark before I even got to the stuff I recognized from games 1-2 and Chain of Memories. The stuff I didn't recognize clearly were from after what I had played but somehow went back and edited stuff I should have known as straightforward plot of the first 2 games. Time travel, multiple xehanorts, Xion being there, digital sora to understand the erased Namine adventures in the journal, every heart being inside another heart. Donald's Graviga spell is very very useful in 1 and the way he dishes damage. both a stun and half their health and spammable. the issue is the commands for KH1 are outdated so if you place "use advanced spells only" that means he will also spam stopga and the enemies won't die when their hp hits 0 and you have to wait forever for the effect to wear off so you can get out of combat/receive xp/loot enemies. Donald is really shit in KH1 and gets better in KH2. Vanilla Goofy is really broken (Whirly Goofga is broken) but in Final Mix it gets nerfed

There's something called revenge value. Basically when it reaches cap the boss insta-counters you off and breaks combo. Know the revenge values so you can maximize damage. in KH2 Firaga has no revenge value but its short-ranged aoe and used to extend combos and damage. Some attacks have a lot of revenge value others don't.
Some summons have a lot of utility good for combos (lilo and stitch for endless mana) while others are flashy but not useful (genie)
in general you don't use summons for combos but early game some are useful.
play around with the different abilities and their frame data to see which one you like (explosion is slow and high revenge value but its an excellent combo finisher with lots of hitbox. Magnetic burst is good for AoE, splash damage and switching targets when one is about to be destroyed)
There's no Score like DMC, but rather your aim is to maximize damage and DPS, which is more gameplay centric
KH2 has tight and fluid combat which is really enjoyable. The osaka team's BBS and so on are floaty trash. play 1 and 2 if you only care about gameplay. BBS and DDD are easy and flashy but don't prioritize tight and fluid gameplay
Also, bind elixirs and ethers to keep the mana high and the combos going. Firaga is good for this since it has no Revenge value and it stuns them.
You might as well play BBS, DDD and Fragmentary Passage for the story and just to check them out. They're still fun, but they're not combo-based action games, just spam thunder surge, balloon, and shot-lock

Ever since KH I they abandoned this premise and it's fucking retarded. All of the stories that took place in the worlds were completely independent. For instance, we arrived with Alice mid-adventure. We don't meet her as soon as she is there, we don't stay with her until she leaves, we're in, we're out. Atlantica has meta-bullshit going on with King Triton not only knowing their are other worlds out there but laws that bind them, we don't just get "The Little Mermaid" but with Sora and crew, it's a new story. Cut to KH II and everything is just (insert movie here) + Sora. It's most obvious with Olympus Colosseum but the worst problem is Aladdin, since we're not actually in Aladdin one, we're in Aladdin 2 for god's sake.

You have a point; there's no telling how big Scala ad Caelum is, although the leaks I've heard said it was short. Also, they made a mistake with the subtitles for the recent Graveyard video. At 1:32, the VA clearly says keyblade but the subtitles say x-blade. Also a lot of weird phrasing from VA. They remind people of a simpler time when they could just play a game and the world wasn't so complicated. Where the only thing that mattered was what was going on in the game. Ah, you must not have seen the earlier scene with Ansem the wise where people star questioning him about a mysterious girl that disappeared during his experiments. This is why Lea and Isa were trying to break into the castle back in BBS, to look for her. There is definitely a plot about a missing girl and we don't know who she is yet, but there are plenty of theories. There is a theory that it's Namine but it's kind of a far-fetched one (though I guess with KH it's par for the course). Mostly that Namine was actually based on another girl who was real who through some mishap got her heart stuck in Kairi's (like Ventus with Sora) and that's what Namine look so different from Kairi despite technically being her nobody.

The only thing I can think of is that The Power Of Waking he used might have some consequences that were explained earlier that wasn't in the part the leakers showed. Honestly, we've only really thoroughly seen the ending so there are plenty of cutscenes from earlier we haven't seen that could give us more context. But I will say the exact state of Sora and Kairi in the ending is pretty unclear. I guess that's what the epilogue will be for, hopefully among other things.
