There's a 7 frame input buffer. I think it's something they put in to help online play. Which on top of being annoying, is used by level 8/9 CPUs to read your inputs and beat you.

Also, there's differing input latency depending on your controller choice. Wired controllers actually have the highest latency while wireless controllers have the least latency. So melee faggots got super butthurt to learn that the wireless pro controller is the most optimal way to play.

A buffer means that if you input a command but your character can't do it at the moment you input it, it will come out instantly if the character is free to use it within 7 frames.

Pretty much every single main character in Fire Emblem uses swords. A couple use lances, a couple use axes, but for the vast majority it's swords swords swords. Being a class-based RPG you of course get all kinds of guys that use all kinds of weapons. But those guys aren't the main characters, so they don't get into Smash Bros. Robin is the most distinct of them so far because he could use magic books (and swords).

I mentioned this in last thread but I found a side effect of B+A Smash. If you hold B to do a special then hold A in the middle of special then at the end of special animation you buffer into a side smash. With some smashes being tiltable this could be useful for not accidentally triggering up or down smashes. If you fall long enough you can N-air. You can do this with side special and F-air. Down special does down smash and D-air. Vulnerability state of up special overrides buffer most of the time.

I've got every jpeg spirit except for the partner Pikachu. I got the eevee one through my sister who has let's go eevee. Am I shit out of luck on that one unless I fork over money for the game? Since old thread dead I got some interesting rules for your arena game if you can set Custom Smash. If not then use this for LAN play.

First make a name profile that changes every face and shoulder button to Jump. Even C-stick. Put Attack and Special on the D-pad. No taunts allowed. Do not attack or special in the game. Don't worry there is a way to defeat your opponent with the following rules:

Set Custom Smash ruled to mini, back shield, curry, flower, high gravity, and angled camera. Then create a Stamina ruleset to 300-500 HP, 1 stock, Infinite time (flower is your time limit), Launch Rate to x0.5, battlefield only, and stage merge at random time. Turn on items to High but only include the following: Container, Bomber, Blast Box, Fake Smash Ball, Sandbag, Starman, Super Mushroom, Poison Mushroom, Bullet Bill (red herring), Bob-omb, Motion-Sensor Bomb, Soccer Ball/Football, Green Shell, Freezie, Gooey Bomb, Smart Bomb, Deku Nut, Hothead, Unira, Bombchu, X Bomb, Hocotate Bomb, POW Block, Cucco, and Beehive.

Do not attack nor shield at all. You can only jump and use ass shield to block. Items that blow up will be how you outwit your opponents in a game of cat and mouse.

Richter is one of my pocket characters.

The Belmonts are very good at controlling space and zoning with their whips and cross, have a nasty ledge trap with the holy water and are pretty good at killing early with some hard reads (if you are into that kind of playstyle).

However, they are much like most zoning characters in other fightans (think Dhalsim) in that they are slow and have poor options when pressured. Their recovery is pretty easy to punish, but it isn't that bad since they have the longest tether recovery in the game. They have awful matchups though, especially against fast + small characters like Inkling, Pi(ka)chu, Isabelle, etc.

When I said "games", I didn't have platformers in mind. The N64's strength was multiplayer stuff, and shit like Snowboard Kids and the Bomberman games get overlooked quite often. That being said, Mario 64 is the best 3d platformer ever made simply because of how much freedom it gave you with the controls. The rest of the Mario series has been bogged down by needless gimmicks, and if not for the shitty transformations and poor mission structure, Odyssey would be better. Conker did everything Banjo did but better, having an actually charming cast, actually funny dialogue, actually creative locales and being all around actually fun. It's still too slow for my personal tastes but the level design seemed more compact to accomodate for that, whereas Banjo was far too spread out. I've heard Tooie has far bigger stages and I can only imagine how miserable that must be to play. Kirby 64 was great. Glover and the Leaked Glover 2 are quite damn good. Gex, while I thought was weak, I still liked more than Banjo (was better on Playstation though). Rayman 2, and there are several that I've never played, like Rocket Robot on Wheels.
