Too bad Fatlus pulled their usual "one/two attempt(s) and we're done if it doesn't catch on", leading to Gainjinworks acquiring 2 and 2G, and no one bothering with the series here further.

Got a magnet, webms of gameplay, or at least some bit more info on this? Fatlus has been caught shilling titles here before, typically for smaller releases they publish and not develop.

I liked it too, but we're clearly never going to get the rest of the series. So we're stuck with the first two unless you want to learn nip for the others.

Played it, my only gripe is that traversing area's and gear progression is a masochistic grind. If the series ever improves on that I wouldn't hold it against them but I've played other drpgs that solved these issues and are still just as hard without being tedious.

They fill out my shelves nicely only illiterate pretentious faggots put books in those, no one buys books to read them and i can get about 30 games for 10 ameriburgers, i don't actually play them though, i've had a memory stick adapter with dual 128gb sd cards on my psp 3000 since 2012, and every game worth a shit is already loaded in it.

I tried both games. The 1st has randomly generated dungeons while the 2nd has properly designed dungeons. Honestly i hated the 1st. The 2nd fixed a lot but the starting grind and the horribly over complicated crafting turned me off. I'm going to finish it when i feel like playing a dungeon crawler again.

First game suffers from first game syndrome where it’s trying to find its footing
Second game is a solid dungeon crawler.
Third game is supposed to be where the series hit its stride, but sadly it was never localized.
Also, if you are into hunting down rare vidya the second game had a very limited PS3 release.

I just started it and it's all the most cancerous japanese shit crammed into one package. Random amount of stats on character creation, class requirements aren't listed anywhere, half the classes are hidden until later in the game, nowhere does it say that certain races have worse performance in one party because they don't like each other, stats aren't explained, apparently there's also random stat gains and losses, FUCKING HELL, I haven't even started playing and I'm already pissed off.

They are? Even if so, that's a positive for me.
>nowhere does it say that certain races have worse performance in one party because they don't like each other
Pretty sure Ms Yuno tells you that at the beginning of the game…or the other woman I forget the name of.
>stats aren't explained, apparently there's also random stat gains and losses
So this bothers you because you want the strongest character possible?

None of that info can be found outside of the game manual that I had to look up on the internet. You can't play Dragon Knight without re-rolling at character creation, because it requires a very specific stat spread.
All that aside, the game isn't even good enough to suffer the low res and generic japanese game music. Just as I started I got a quest to annoy a teacher and find steroids for some guy, peak writing right there. Gameplay is boring as hell, press attack 6 times, end turn, repeat. Should've heeded the 7/10 rating which means "it's OK if you got tricked into buying a console and you're into low effort grindy shit".

Don't worry about stats, as gear and skills/spells are what carries you through. Stats average out over time, so they don't matter all too much unless you want to change classes/majors. They might go down one level, but suddenly you get way more the next level. Not worth saving/reloading over unless you really need that HP boost.
>>15924065
You revisit the first games academy in the second game and see some familiar faces, but otherwise their is no large story-line. First one is bare in the story department anyways, second one actually gives you a reason for why you're running around doing shit.
>>15924807
Feel free to skip the first one as it's nothing more than a Wizardry clone with an anime skin. As you saw too, any helpful information such as affinity is either not told in game or the explanation is bare-bones and unhelpful. Second one is more manageable, but as another anon said, the series doesn't really start to become its own until the third game which we'll never get.
