you should only do the 10/20ap embers if you aren't strong enough to do the 40. Gold embers are by far the most efficient way to get exp. Plus, even if you can't beat the 40ap ember gathering, you might be able to use a level 90 support to get through it. According to some of the information people have posted in the past, after you're finally done exp grinding, then it becomes more efficient to grind 30 AP embers for mana prisms, but you're nowhere near that point anyway.
On the topic of not getting merlin, it might just be better for you to reroll your account a few times, he's that much of a boon that everything will be trivialised. Of course, this is only assuming you want him enough to warrant rerolling.

No, no rerolls. There's an entire week ahead until the banner ends, so I could probably get enough SQ to roll a 10-pull from gacha three more times, including what I have so far. If possible, I want to grail d'Eon and wait until GUDAGUDA reruns to get that 3-turn Target Focus CE so that it's possible to do a cheese Support Berserker/Tank/Berserker or Merlin setup to abuse long-lasting Target Focus. It's not strictly necessary to get Merlin for this setup, but it should very much help.

Gameplay-wise, both Herc and EMIYA are considered the best 4* picks from the tutorial rolls, since Herc is THE WORLD'S STRONGEST who doesn't ever die after you get his Bond CE and GARcher crits like a fucking god after his skill buffs. Siegfried is known as a meme saber, but he's actually pretty good because some people don't realize how legitimately good his Dragon Slayer skill is after his skill buffs, just pair him up with 2* Rider Georgios and he's good. Carmilla is a pretty damn solid assassin if you don't have Jack. Liz is a pretty alright lancer who's a pretty good support to females after her skill buffs. Everyone else goes from okay to meh. Avoid Stheno at all costs but she gets an NP buff longer down the line that makes her somewhat more viable at least.
However, if your waifu or husbando is within the tutorial roll, you could just roll with them if they appear; this game isn't that hard and beatable even without a 4* or 5*, since you can always borrow a friend's Herc or Cu Alter to kill shit for you :^)
Also, since you're just starting, I'd recommend you to finish the tutorial (Fuyuki) and roll in the Merlin banner until you get him, since he's one of the best and most desired support servants in the game even today in JP, and he's only come back for a few banners in the future (not counting paid gachas).

Get a strong support who can keep themselves alive (like Cu Alter) and eat the 40AP dailies for massive amounts of master exp, leading to a loop of AP for many levels. I want to progress in the main quest while getting AP refreshes from levelups simultaneously, because that's what gives SQ and I want at least two more 10-pulls from the banner. After AP cost to Master EXP ratio will get too low, I'm probably going to do free quests to get SQ while ignoring Master EXP to get a little further benefit out of that. Still gonna do all 40 AP dailies for the Mana Prisms though.
Picrelated is current progress. I'm only using bronze and golden on-class EXP cards, so all my stuff is really low leveled. I'm also deliberately not leveling some servants until the Merlin gacha ends just in case I get something more useful. Still waiting on Cu and Georgios, one for the evade spam and the other for 3-turn target focus on 7/6/5 cooldown.

You can make it through the first part of Camelot up until the Gawain fight as well technically. That's the first major wall you have to overcome and it only gets harder from there.
I don't know how we're defining "relevant" though. Technically all singularities are relevant to the overall plot but they all suck donkey dick until Okeanos and they don't get good until Camelot. If we define our endgoal as getting to Camelot you can cheat your way through the first 5 singularities with supports with constant ap refill in under a week if you're not stupid.

I've made an account like three days ago and got to America today. All my servants are underleveled (around level 20) and even though I have good CE's, right now they're not really that helpful. If you can get a good support herk and time Guts buff right you can make it through without leveling. You could also just take one with Bond CE, but in that case you're going to be building meter most of the time instead of doing buster cards to get through things faster while taking less damage.
To clarify however, it can take you less than three days to get to America if you don't do dailies/free quests before getting master level exp to AP ratio in order. To get through things faster, you will need to spend as much AP on story quests as possible until you'll have an AP buffer that you can spend on other things without harming your ability to get AP refills through levelups. Think of it like this - if you are one story quest away from leveling and you have AP over your max from a previous levelup, it's best to do other quests until you only have enough AP to do a story quest to levelup and refill AP. The reason for that is that your AP regenerates only when it's below maximum and that it sometimes takes too long to do quests. It's autism optimization, but this will make things faster.

You missed the 1/2 AP story which will slow things down quite a lot however all you need is a maxed support cu alter to get through about 95% of the story content up til now. You support the cu with servants like george, mash, david and anything else is extra. That setup allowed me to clear all camelot bosses with the exception of tristan & tituria which needed a support nero bride instead. Took about a month of casual play for a fresh alt account to reach salmon's pillar boogaloo in time for raids.
Most of the plot isn't too interesting other than camelot/babylonia and parts of okeanos so there's no shame to hit that skip button every time nero pops up on your screen.

Camelot actually explored some interesting themes that fit in with the idea of time travel and the incineration of humanity being an actual threat. All the battles didn't feel like Gudako just getting bullshit help immediately when she needed it but actually having to run around and makes plans for shit.
Contrast Babylon which was just Age of the Gods meta-wanking and power leveling so inconsistent that I really couldn't care how hard the struggle was for Gudako and she kept getting shit handed to her left and right and the writers couldn't even keep characters consistent.

F2Pfag reporting in again. Just finished America. The game went from stale farmfest to "FUCKFUCKFUCK TIME DODGES RIGHT OH GOD" in no time flat. Already had to restart two missions, though both of them were thanks to complete incompetence - one because Zerker got three-shot since I forgot to put buffs on, second because I didn't put Evasion on Herk while he was facing a pillar with three DEF down debuffs, thinking that Guts may save him. It's likely that if I didn't have K-scope on Mashu I wouldn't even be able to finish Murrika - her defensive NP was just that good.
Now, onwards to more suffering. I can probably scrounge up for one more 10-roll from my remaining Free Quests, two if I manage to complete more story missions and get enough Login Bonuses.

I farmed Amon just for the Foolish Chains. I realized at the start that when you have fights like these with good drops you don't prioritize gold mats, you prioritize bronze ones. The event isn't special., it's just time limited for the specific part of destroying millions of pillars. What's happening storywise is that Gudako and co and trying to fix the final singularity and are getting stopped by millions of pillars in the story and they need to stop the bad guy before the calendar changes to 2019 as that means humanity dies. To reflect this in gameplay, the made a "raid" style event where everyone on the server has to join together to kill each of the pillars 2 million times before January 1st. After this event, you can still play the singularity, the only change is you'll only need to kill each pillar once. To encourage players to join in the pillars have incredibly great drops so people are just farming for the sake of farming at this point.

Support Herk's DPS alone is starting to not cut it anymore. This is understandable, and other fags in the thread had already said so. So unless I level something from list in picrelated, I'm just gonna lose AP and command spells over and over. So, here's our options.
One - grind today's daily EXP quest. Right now it's Lancer/Assassin. Leveling Hassan of Serenity doesn't seem like a good idea - thanks, x0.9 multiplier and shitty 3-star stats - but we have Cu and we can ascend him. This will reduce the amount of death that we get from getting nearly one-shot at this stage in the game. Take note, there's still no mats for skills and by spending AP right now, there's gonna be less AP from refills later.
Two - feed ALL the EXP cards from other classes that I have to one (or two) servants, including Mashu for a stable frontline. This should seriously fuck up EXP optimization in the long run, but at least this will allow me to push forward. Do note that my only 5* is a critgen and two of 4*'s are a literal trap and an unleveled crit engine. Cu might be good though.
Three - just push forward using command spells for Zerker NP while spending last of AP on free quests. This'll give me another 10-pull, but it'll take a lot of AP to make a second 10-pull in time. Or what's more likely, I won't even be able to make it because of free quests running out.
Four - use support Jalter and pray very hard to not die. I'll get balls of steel and use them to conquer everything or die in the process.

Don't give a shit about class-exp bonus, it's not worth it and it's a resource that is always available. It's only 20%. If you have a shit ton sure, use on the same class, but right now you need more high level servants than you can swing around. You should level up your taunters to help Herk survive, your best options are Mashu and Leonidas, George and D'eon are more Arts oriented and thus don't suit him as well.

Use support Cu Alter instead of Jalter, who is basically 5* Heracles. Level taunters like Leonidas and Mash to keep him alive longer and buff him. Jalter is a meme who only does well if you're using the other two memes, Waver and Merlin. On her own she's 'okay' and needs more support than you have right now.
None of the options you've presented are going to help you with Mordred though. For her you'll probably want to run two lvl 1 1* and a support Bond Heracles.
Also yes to leveling Cu but none of the KotR are weak to him (Tristan is weak to Sabers) so he's not going to help you in Camelot.

Waver is easier to use as he can get anyone to 100% NP charge as long as you have a 50% charge CE (something almost every single event gives out). Merlin is more specialized for Buster memes (as should be obvious with his kit) so you're not going to get the best use out of him unless you have Buster meme servants. In addition, you either need Kaleido or NP charge skills on the servant to make it to 100% on one turn unlike Waver, so that limits the pool more. For best results you should bring support characters that are Buster Critters (Raikou, Jalter, Musashi) and put a star generating support in the last slot (usually Leonidas because of his great complimenting of Merlin).

I've fought the faggot pillar over 200 times for the Lanugos and the dust, EMIYA has been critting like fucking crazy while Nero Bride and Waver were cheering him on and Liz autistically screeching singing in the back row; now I'm swimming on the stuff and I also fucking capped my QP multiple times. Started with killing Andromalius with the Stay Night cast and CEs. Well, more like Seibah, Garcher and Medusa since Medea, Cú and Herc didn't even need to fight, EMIYA stronk. I even recorded it but it's rather long for a webm, shame. I'll see if I can do something with it.
I went through with fighting Goetia with my star team of EMIYA, Scáthach, Bedivere, Lancer Alter and Herc since they're my favorites that I've raised and relied on all this time. Fuck the first Solomon fight, the nigger kept evading to the point where Shishou couldn't unload her NP in the whole fucking fight until the end.
I went to the second fight with the same setup, but with a support Mephisto (thanks Mordredfag). Even with it, shit didn't work so well since knight classes got fucked up rather fast (as I expected) and I thought I'd need a revive to set shit straight, but in comes fucking Herc securing the win at his last fucking life with support from Lancer Alter's NP seal, holy fuck that was beautiful to see. Herc truly is the world's strongest.
And at the end, I went with the same team to push the faggot Goetia's shit in one last time, with far better results since the double niggerfaggot didn't evade until invincibility near the end. Archer finally became a true hero of justice like he always wanted, just as I set out to do from the beginning of the game. Here's to you, my man.
And so it's finally over. I'm fucking burned out from all the grinding I did on the raids but damn, I appreciated this ending a lot. After many setbacks and shit, NA actually reached the end of Part 1 successfully and without much drama in the last few months (lel Korea). Thankfully the SEAniggers did implement subtitles for the final fights, I hope they continue to do this shit in the future. Now I'm just gonna have to wait until the Lostbelts come out in a year and a bit more, hopefully the EoRs will be entertaining enough to justify a year of mostly reruns. I'm gonna take a fucking break and grind hands every now and then for a few days.

Gawain can be a bitch to get past if you don't have access to strong archers. Mash got me through it with my David and Robin with a support Orion. It'll probably be easier with your Orion, support Merlin/Waver and Mash or another strong Archer. A strong support Saber should get you past Tristan if you bring a strong D'Eon as well. Merlin and Waver really aren't required as Mash can keep your team alive long enough to burst down bosses. Bosses will stop attacking for the turn once they kill a taunting enemy too. It helps when they get like 3 attacks a turn and you don't want them to follow up after a np.

Guaranteed gacha gave me Drake. Any rider but Medb is a win to me even if I was hoping for Quetz or Ozy. A random ticket on Musashi's banner then gave me CasGil, I figured he would spook me at some point so now I feel justified not rolling for him on the Babylonia banner. I can rest easy knowing that the anniversary 4* ticket pick got a lot easier to choose now.
Also remember there is an extra 5 tickets in the shop for new years.

If they don't refund their quartz after purchase then they are foolish indeed. To make f2p tolerable think of it as a special challenge mode where no matter how much SQ you save up you will never get the servants you wanted, people pay hundreds of dollars and still don't that way you won't ever end up disappointed!
Just plan out what your core team needs to get at least 9/9/9 skills and you're gonna do great. Whatever servants you have now is all you'll ever need.
