So I gave Diablo 3 a shot.
And Im pretty dissapointed.
I got to what I think is supposed to be the first boss. And the fight was fucking yawnfest. I just spammed one skill and moved a little bit when he started his combo, which was like 4 times during the battle. Otherwise I was just standing still since his DPS was too low to actually do anything, what the fuck.
I though these games get heavy praise all the time. Am I missing something ? Does it get better ? I was looking forward to this and now I dont know if I even should buy the game.
The only thing I sorta enjoyed were the random "elite" mobs you come across from time to time. But even they werent much of a challenge. So far it seems more like some mindless chink grindan game rather than something good.

Yeah Ive been pretty much ignoring all Diablo related posts and news since what little I knew about the gameplay didnt intrigue me.

Diablo 1 has a very grimdark atmosphere, top-tier music, excellent enemy design, a very strong yet compact world with lots of lore, it also has a good set of quests and interesting enemies and NPCs
Diablo 2 has a lot, period. It has a shitton of new skills, the ability to sprint (which necessitated completely changing the level designs as a result), more classes, more locales, more weapons and types, and more multiplayer focus with builds and all this other shit
It doesn't have the same traits as 1 does namely in its grimdarkness, worldbuilding/characters/interesting quests/NPCs, and sound design, but its still very fun with what it does; its combat is very different-feeling from 1, a lot more freedom but as a result there's a lot more open spaces for you to do shit in usually

Diablo 2 is a game that has been tweaked for ages and it is a game that, on the surface seems basic, but is extremely good just because the fundamentals are so fucking good. Diablo 2 is to hack and slash RPGs what Super Mario is to all the shitty platformers that came before it. The loot tables are perhaps the best of any RPG game with loot. Seriously, it's even fun to play solo, but top-tier is playing through the whole game with friends (preferably not random fags).
D1 is much more like a graphical roguelike without permadeath. It's a slower paced game where you have to think about engaging monsters like a roguelike. It is cool in that any class can learn magic and learn spells; D2 is more traditionally class based, HOWEVER there are magic items you can get which grant you spells from other classes.

I like Titan Quest but I find Grim Dawn to be better, they've improved upon pretty much all concepts from TQ. The only thing you could argue is that TQ's setting is more appealing. I enjoy both settings but I have to admit that I lean more towards TQ's, but not enough to consider it the better game.

Something that really sucks about D3 is that the horror element of it feels thrown away. I remember playing through it and it wasn't scary at all. The music, the art, the gameplay, none of it was really satisfying or unique. All of it was dull. I remember being so scared of the setup screen I made my brother install D1 on the computer for me as a kid. 2: you don't have set item like diablo.
set item is really a very stupid shit in hacck and slash game because it the end you just end up collecting them because they are so much better than anything else. So it also limit your build choice, 1set = 1 build. not using that set for that build = shit performance.
PoE is a huge, HUGE, H.U.G.E grind however. But that's to be expected. And unlike the D3 "day that never end"kind of grind aka same thing but with bigger number PoE grind is all about gaining a few % and be abble to build much more crazy character with super expensives item that allow you to do ridiculous stuff like beating shaper by being AFK or tons of cast on crit masochist.(embeded)

I tryed it when they released the crusader: i am immortal kek i can't die, but i also can't kill them because i don't deal enouth damage. So i am forced to play boring, easy, low torment because in T10+ althought i can't die, i can't kill either. D3 "higher difficulty" = moe time to kill. It's awfull
Saying this also made me realise one other different with PoE: PoE is made in a way that you can't (unless you use some e.x.t.r.e.m.l.y pricy item) facetank something.

I played up until GR78 or so and cleared just about everything with a buddy on PS4.
Modifiers on equipment and monsters has a very limited pool. End-game is just running greater rifts over and over efficiently for blood shards, and then dumping your bloodshards into a vendor who you can buy unidentified gear from and hoping you get what you need.
And that's it. That's how you gear. Skills don't really matter since you're pigeonholed into builds via set bonuses since everything else is inferior. At most you'll be fishing for some uniques to complement some sets. It really doesn't feel like you have much control over your character progression or build. Char balance was also pretty dumpy from what I remember.
