I don't see how you could even suggest 3 being above Scholar, that game was not only a reskin of BB, but it fucked the lore into the ground until the DLC wrapped some of it up.
Also, Scholar had the widest build variety in the series, and powerstancing was great. 1 is backstab-central, 3 is Dex-ville, and even back in Demons anyone could show up with a scraping spear and the best option was often to literally jump off a ledge rather than risk even attempting to fight them.

Because, from a conceptual standpoint, DS2 sounds amazing, but its execution is trash-tier. All of your comparisons are in regards to pvp, which is inherently flawed due to the way netcode works (Suction backstabbing is present in all games of the series). but in terms of pve, DS2 may have more areas and more bosses, but quantity is certainly over quality here. Especially with its ludicrous gank mobs. All of that is outlined in the video I linked to much greater detail, which in itself references something like 8 hours worth of in-depth critique of SOTFS.
Repeatedly, I've found myself wanting to return to the game because it quite frankly sounds amazing on paper, but every time I find myself more and more disappointed by it.

I like grim dawn. Its nifty keen. Some eldritch and arcane nonsense mixed with a world that seems to be in early industrial era. Its an ARPG in the vein of diablo. At first glance it looks like a happy go lucky fantasy world, but in reality it's an unstable world constantly on the verge of war, where there is so much potential for a looming crisis that they're willing to recruit teenagers into peacekeeping organizations like the Bracer guild or even directly into the military.
Their governments are being subverted by a chuuni-tier version of kikes. The world itself is littered with vicious monsters and relics of an advanced civilization that died off from actual degeneracy despite being given gifts from god.

I really liked the world building and exposition in SOMA. You wake up in some ruined place and slowly piece where you are and what happened together. The MC doesn't really comment too much on what happened to the planet at first, you just have to read various files or reports and figure it out for yourself. And since it already happened, you get kind of an interesting insight of it, reading from when the event was first discovered to the event itself and then the aftermath. Plus the WAU and having to learn about what it was doing. It all just felt really cool to me.
