So my friend sent me these screenshots claiming that there is a Starcraft mobile game in development, by NetEase(the same company making Diablo Immortal). I haven't heard from them for a few days now, but it wouldn't surprise me if these were legit. I can't really seem to find any other information on this, so thats all I got. Maybe we can dig up some more info?

I wouldn't doubt that this game is/was in developement. But I doubt that they would dare to announce this after the diablo immortal backlash. They will probably cancel this and sweep any trace of it under the rug.

I think blizz is going all in on mobile shit. Thats why (((Morhaime))) left the company right before diablo immortal was announced.

If they're doing these mobile games for a chinese audience, is there really a need to announce and release it for the US? Could just release it exclusively to china
ce4e38 No.15850757
The funny thing is that could be a screenshot of some cheap knockoff and the rumor could still very well be true since that will be the base.

Chinese don't have gaming PCs at all. They do however ALL have mobile phones. Even the backwater villagers. They don't even use cash that much, they use an app called "We Chat" and do most financial transactions through that and even person to person using scanning QR codes.

Blizzard is cashing in the mobile shit as "the next step" in their "franchises" like EA
the supposed "devs who all moved to mobile naturally" are mostly executives and people sucking up to them
dont kid yourself, this is the end times for that company, they havent made a proper game since like Cataclysm
last game Blizzard put ANY effort into is probably StarCraft 2

It's just a veneer of loyalty to their home nation and original fans. They're trying to make it look like this is just what they think their pre-existing fanbase would enjoy rather than what they're really doing which is abandoning the less lucrative western audience.

Thinking about it at face value, multitouch controls seem like something that should work reasonably well for a real RTS game, even on a phone, assuming a competent dev actually attempted such a thing.
Did anybody ever take a shot at an RTS on the DS, for instance?
ce4e38 No.15850939

Not a traditional RTS but there was a Blue Dragon sequel and FF12-2 that played like rtwp style RPG with RTS sized armies.

Nobody gives a shit about the bad goyim you shmuck, it's the pay pigs who don't hesitate on throwing away thousands of shekels every day on pixel garbage they are preying on, and it's exactly because of them devs would rather make shitty mobage cashgrabs than proper fucking videogames so we end up getting harmed for said paypigs' atrocious behavior.

the real question is not whether it is bad but how it will be bad
my bet is that it will be like hearthstone and have units trapped behind lootcrates or something, I'm not sure how else you could go whaling with an rts

Yes, Lego Battles, it was basically a simplified blizzard RTS, but was really good, with 90 levels spread across 6 factions.
My only complaints would be that the max unit count was low (~20 combat units per player), factions were a bit too samey in how they played, and there was no online multiplayer, only local.
At the very least it is proof that the concept could be executed there, but I don't know about phones. Lego Battles still had buttons for quickly scrolling around the map, and the stylus allowed for precise unit selection, controlling an army with phone controls seems annoying.

This one is probably too obscure for many people to know of but here's a game that was basically a C&C clone if the name doesn't give it away for you already.
Aside from pure rts there are very few but the nds had lots of experimental stuff, a couple fps come to mind and with touch screen controls they sort of worked well too. Some tower defense games as well which is the closest you'll get to the rts genre realistically and there are a bunch of them out there unlike pic related.
